Chapter 83: CALL WITH ABIGAIL
Chapter 83: CALL WITH ABIGAIL
"Nothing, Mom," Terrence forced a smile on his face. He did not want Tiana to further worry about him.
"Alright," Even though Tiana was not convinced with it, she silently nodded and removed her hands on Terrence’s shoulder. She thought that he might not want to talk about his problem.
It’s better to leave Terrence alone.
"How about you help us with this instead?" Tiana showed a sweet smile. She pointed at the pots and plates in the kitchen.
Archer raised the wooden spoon that he was using to mix the food on the pot, as if inviting Terrence to join them.
Terrence chuckled and nodded.
"Fine."
Terrence placed his worry aside. It has been so long since he has spent time with his family.
Terrence helped with what he could. He cut up some vegetables that would be used for what his father was cooking. It was a simple beef stew with carrots and potatoes.
Tiana arranged the table. She carefully placed the plates and utensils on top. She arranged it in an orderly manner so that it would look special.
"Where should I put this, Dad?" Terrence asked as he pointed out the vegetable peels on the countertop.
"Put it in a plastic bag. We can use that as a soil’s fertilizer." Archer uttered.
Terrence silently nodded. The food was almost cooked, so it was his task to clean up the mess from the ingredients they had used.
Terrence placed them all in a plastic bag and tied it tightly. He then put it at the side of the sink and left it there.
When Terrence was done, so was the food and the table arrangement. It became faster since he was there to help.
Tiana and Archer were all smiles as they sat at the table. They looked at Terrence, who was confused why they were acting that way.
"Is this related to the good news?" Terrence asked. He squinted his eyes as he looked at them.
Tiana and Archer looked at each other in excitement. They clapped their hands and said the good news.
"Your sister belonged to the top class!" The two of them announced in unison.
Terrence’s eyes widened. His jaw fell to the ground.
"For real?" He asked in amusement.
He did not expect that from Abigail at all.
Tiana nodded. "Yes. The university’s principal called earlier and said he was satisfied with Abigail’s performance at the university. He said that if Abigail will continue performing that way, there will be no doubt that your sister will have a successful future ahead of her."
The announcement put a smile on Terrence’s face. It seems like Abigail was really serious about this. He was glad that Abigail was working hard and striving despite being in a new environment.
"And there’s one more!" Tiana added.
"What is it, mother? Did Abigail receive more awards?"
"Huh? There’s one more?" Even Archer was surprised by it. He didn’t know that Tiana was keeping something from him.
Tiana tilted her head to the side. "Wait and see," she answered with a big smile on her face
"What is it then?" This added to Terrence’s curiosity.
Tiana smiled. She took her phone from her pocket and clicked on something.
Archer and Terrene waited patiently as it seemed like Tiana wouldn’t tell them anything before she finished what she was doing.
A few minutes had passed, and they were just looking at Tiana as she seriously looked at her phone. It was as if she was waiting patiently for something.
"Hello?"
When a familiar voice sounded, Archer and Terrence both stood up at the same time in shock. They look at each other as if confirming if they heard the same thing.
"Hi, Abigail." Tiana sweetly greeted back to the voice that sounded. She wanted to laugh when she noticed her husband and son’s reaction.
Tiana opened the camera of the call and showed Terrence and Archer. "Say Hi to your brother and dad. They look like idiots right now."
Abigail laughed as she watched the expression of her family’s face. She couldn’t help but be happy as she looked at them.
Only a few days had passed, and yet she greatly missed her family. That was her motivation when she took the entrance exam, causing her to be part of the top class.
The school promised them that they would be allowed a 30-minute call with their family once the results went out.
"Hi Dad, Hi Brother," Abigail waved her hands at the screen. She showed a big smile.
Terrence and Archer quickly ran to Tiana’s side. They hurried over to talk to Abigail.
"Abigail! How are you!" Archer’s voice sounded. He wasn’t used to expressing his feelings, but right now, he couldn’t hide it.
Abigail smiled. "I’m fine, Dad. I’m in my room right now. My roommates went down to eat, so I’m alone here." she moved the camera away from her face and turned it around to give them a view of her room.
"Oh my! You should have called us after you te Abigail!" Tiana quickly uttered in a worried voice.
Abigail laughed. "It’s fine, Mom. I bought dinner from downstairs. I’ll eat it here. It’s been a long time since we last saw each other."
Tiana smiled. "Your brother is standing here, looking at you." she moved the camera to the side to show Terrence.
Terrence smiled. He silently waved his hand. There were a lot of emotions running through his brain right now.
"Hi, Abigail." Terrence greeted warmly. Compared to Tiana and Archer’s greeting, his was more relaxed and calm.
When Abigail heard her brother’s voice, she couldn’t help but smile and laugh for a little bit. His way of talking haven’t changed even though they haven’t seen each other for days.
"Hi, brother." Abigail greeted back warmly.
Tiana chuckled at her children’s conversation. She moved back the camera to her face.
"How long can you talk to us, Abigail?" She asked since Abigail didn’t tell her anything.
A sad expression appeared on Abigail’s face.
"For only 30 minutes, Mom."
