Chapter 64: BUMPING TO SOMEONE

Chapter 64: BUMPING TO SOMEONE

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?"

Edwin looked at Terrence with widened eyes. He didn’t expect what Terrence said a while ago. He thought that he was just trying to console him by joking, but he noticed the seriousness on his face.

"I mean what I said." Terrence smiled as he nodded.

It was a perfect opportunity for him and for Edwin. It was like hitting 2 birds with one stone. Both of them will benefit in this way.

Edwin’s jaw fell to the ground. "Y-You’re not joking?" He asked. He was in denial of the truth.

Terrence looked at Edwin and squinted his eyes before pointing to himself. "Do I look like I’m joking?" he asked back as an answer.

Edwin shook his head. "Nope..." He still couldn’t believe it.

Terrence smiled and leaned back. "There’s your answer then," he simply said.

Edwin was left speechless. He couldn’t say anything as a reply. He just stared at Terrence with a shocked expression on his face.

’Isn’t Terrence poor just like me? How come he has that much money?’

That was the question running through Edwin’s mind currently. He was in a state of confusion.

"How come?" Edwin mindlessly asked. Those were the words that came out of his mouth as he tried to come up with a reply.

"I am planning to make my own grocery store. I need employees and people who will handle

it aside from me. I know that you’re qualified for that position." Terrence explained it briefly to Edwin.

What he said was the truth and what he truly felt. Although he doesn’t trust Edwin enough, he knows that he could do well with the job.

"I am happy to get that opportunity then!" Edwin exclaimed. His face lit up instantly.

Edwin’s heart thumped in happiness. He felt a glint of hope arising from his mind.

"You’re hired, then." Terrence was glad that Edwin accepted his offer. It made it easier since he really wasn’t planning to back out.

He planned to convince and persuade Edwin to accept the job.

Edwin patted Terrence’s shoulders. A genuine smile appeared on his face.

"Thanks for this. What you did really mean a lot to me."

Terrence nodded. "It’s nothing." He answered.

Edwin and Terrence both finished the food after their talk. The gloomy atmosphere quickly disappeared.

Edwin was very thankful to Terrence. Only he knew how big the opportunity was for him. He was already thinking and worrying a lot since there was uncertainty when it came to applying for jobs.

It might take him months just to successfully land on one. And that wasn’t good, especially with what he was experiencing right now.

After they were done eating, Edwin volunteered to clean up and throw away their trash. He was ashamed since he used to be Terrence’s boss, but now Terrence was the one helping him and treating him to food.

He knew that Terrence did it out of his goodwill, but he still wanted to pay back. He was the kind of person who did not want to owe anything to someone. So, as much as possible, he wanted to do good at the job that was offered to him.

At least in that way, he would be able to pay back what was given to him.

"I’ll just throw away the trash." Edwin stood up and took the paper bags that were now filled with and stood up.

"Okay," Terrence nodded. He stood up and removed the few specks of dirt on his pants by shaking them off.

"I’ll go to the café on that side. Go there afterward. The loud noises here are distracting." Terrence pointed out to the café where he bought all the food items they shared.

"Alright. I’ll go there afterward." Edwin nodded. He left Terrence afterward to look for a trashcan.

Terrence took a glance at the building that was now almost completely demolished. When he thought of what William did, he couldn’t feel but be mad.

He also worked hard to restore the grocery store’s reputation. Still, now all of his efforts were instantly gone just because of it. He thought that William had gone too greedy this time.

Terrence already knew that William must be the reason why Edwin’s wife was now in the hospital. It was too sketchy that it happened the day after Edwin rejected William’s offer.

’Edwin must have known that it was William who did this.’ He tilted his head to the side and proceeded to walk. He thought that even though Edwin already knew this, he might be too scared to know more and fight back.

Terrence sighed deeply.

Terrence was lost in his thoughts as he walked away. He passed by the crowd that was still watching from the side.

He didn’t know what they would get from watching.

"Excuse me," Terrence excused. There were a lot of people watching, so he had a hard time passing by.

The crows quadrupled compared to earlier.

It must be because it was past lunchtime, so all the people in their town had nothing to do but to come here.

When he successfully passed by them, he stopped for a couple of seconds. It was tiring to go through the mass of people.

"Fuck!"

A loud curse from someone sounded as if something bumped into Terrence’s body.

"What the..." Terrence uttered. The sudden force took him back. That’s when he felt something cold on his lower chest and side. His forehead creased when he saw coffee stains on his shirt.

The bottom half of the side of his shirt was almost covered by it.

Terrence looked forward and saw a girl with blonde hair. She was wearing a skimpy dress and a pair of high heels. A large pair of sunglasses was almost covering half of her face.

A cup of coffee was in her right hand, and only a third of it was left inside. While her right hand was holding her phone on the right side of her face.

"No, Babe. That’s not for you. Wait for a moment." The woman said to the person she was talking to before dropping the call to glance at Terrence.

"Are you blind?"
