Chapter 60: Welcome Home

Taking the coat from the hood man, the man introduced himself, "I the butler. Master inside. Follow me." His words came out confusing the hood man again. He spoke as if he was a toddler learning how to speak for the first time. What a weird man. The hood man thought.

The butler stepped aside for the hood man to walk inside, again he watched as the door closed on its own accord. He stared at the door in confusion, he shrugged again before he followed behind the man who introduced himself as the butler of the mansion.

They walked past several hallways that all looked similar to each other. The high ceilings and the marble floor shone under the lit wall lamps even though it was daytime. The ceilings and the shining marble floor reflected the two men that walked on with their shoes clicking loudly in the quiet hallway.

The hallway was deserted with not a single person in sight except the men. Where were the others? The hood man asked himself. And just like what the butler said, the mansion was very warm unlike the cold weather outside.

After walking a considerable amount since they went inside, the butler finally led the two of them to a double golden door.

The butler knocked on the door twice and a deep voice resounded from the inside permitting them to come inside.

The butler pushed the door open, he first walked in and after some minutes came out and gestured the man to go in.

The hood man walked inside the room that was the warmest compared to other parts of the mansion they had passed. The room was lavishly furnished with the most costly and sparkling things he had seen in his lifetime. The walls and ceilings here were painted white and on the ceiling hung a chandelier sparkling with the most expensive burning candles on it.

The furniture was not left out and neither was the marble floor that reflected everything in the room. And there in the corner of the room sat a man one would call the most gorgeous man with his expensive clothes. The man’s lips stretched into a wide smile when he saw the hood man walk in.

The man immediately stood up, his green eyes stared at the green eyes of the hood man who watched him with a smile too. And immediately, they held each other in a tight hug. The hood man patted the other man on his back and disengaged from the hug. He spoke with thick emotion laced in his voice,

"It has been so so long, Leonard,"

"Of course, it has been long, Fredrick," Leonard answered with a laugh. He asked, "How have you been? Hope you had a good rest down there?" He asked pointing to the floor as an indication of what he was referring to.

Fredrick walked towards the sofa in the room and gently eased himself unto the chair. He nodded his head, his eyes holding a deep and mysterious glint in them. He replied, "I did have a good rest though it was in an unfortunate event that I was suddenly whisked into the grave by that stupid pureblooded vampire."

"It was an unfortunate event, Fred. The massacre was so sudden that we were not able to prevent it." Leonard said talking about the massacre that happened ten years ago that caused so much destruction.

"If you ask me, I would say the massacre was in a way good to us because it allowed us to rest peacefully. It’s a decade now and things have also changed." Fredrick held a thoughtful look on his face as he spoke.

It has been ten years and things have truly changed. Starting from this very mansion he was in and the kingdom too. The massacre was unexpected and happened so suddenly that it caused the death of so many innocent souls, and even them who were the rumored most powerful and great witches of all were not left out.

They were killed and buried, but it was more like they were put to sleep. Being witches and very powerful ones, they can not die no matter what they were subjected to. They had the highest lifespan than vampires and even more powerful than some pureblooded ones.

The pureblooded vampire thought he had the upper hand and will still be foolishly thinking he had eliminated them. What he didn’t know was that he had raised and trained them to become more powerful than they were before when they were hibernating in their graves. And now they were back, he would know what it meant to provoke a witch. There was going to be bloodshed in the kingdom.

"You must be tired from your journey, and you are almost looking ghastly." Leonard who was also in the same line of thought as Fredrick spoke up.

"I guess I am old," Fredrick laughed and continued to say, "A glass of blood wine will go a long way to refresh me."

"Of course, Fred," Leonard said and pulled the bell in the room. Immediately the weird butler emerged from the door with a glass of what Fredrick requested in his hand.

Leonard signaled for him to give to Fredrick who took the glass and gulped down its content." Immediately the wine flowed and entered the man’s throat and into his body, and his appearance began to drastically change.

His black and gray became long and more beautiful than they were before. His green eyes shone more brightly under the shining chandelier and his wrinkled face became smooth like that of a young man. He looked nothing like the old man he was before when he came in. He looked more young and handsome as Leonard.

During the transformation, the dead-looking eyes of the butler slightly changed in awe as if he recognized someone and he heard the next words of Leonard.

Leonard walked forward with a wine bottle in his hand and refilled Fredrick’s glass and said, "Welcome home, brother."

The butler quickly bowed and said too, "Welcome home, master."

Fredrick raised his glass and toasted, "To our great witch family, and our future revenge."

"To our great witch family and our future revenge," Leonard responded and clinked his glass with Fredrick’s and they gulped everything down in one go feeling the wine burn down their throats, affirming their thirst for revenge and bloodshed.
