Night Without End -
Chapter 221 - 142 Hell Level Difficulty
Chapter 221: Chapter 142 Hell Level Difficulty
Shenshang Plain, fertile soil, even a casual shovel could uncover trickling strands of fresh crimson Fire Spring, nourishing all things.
Despite the dense nighttime fog covering the vast plain, shrouding it in pitch darkness, the land was still lush with vegetation and rich in species.
"Little brother, you’re finally back!" When the people of Luo Family Village saw Qin Ming, they swarmed around him with a buzz of excitement, their hearts which were once uneasy now filled with anticipation.
"Don’t worry, the wolf disaster has been resolved," Qin Ming reassured them.
"Little brother, you truly are our great benefactor!" Some choked up, their eyes reddening, especially the few families who lost children, people young and old shedding tears.
The Newcomers in the village were entirely helpless against the Wolf Monster of that rank, and they had been living in tension and fear, each day feeling like a year.
Unable to decline their warm hospitality, Qin Ming stayed for a midday meal and took the opportunity to inquire about the Silver Wolf King from the village chief, feeling that without eliminating this old wolf lurking in the background, future troubles were inevitable.
"It resides in the Wolf Palace, commanding over a hundred Wolf Monsters."
Qin Ming contemplated making a move against it in secret when the timing was right.
He suspected that this Silver Wolf King could be one of those failed Silver Creatures evolution experiments mentioned by Zhou Tao, with its remnants of silver blood being extremely valuable.
At noon when the night was comparatively lighter, Qin Ming arrived at the neighboring village - Liu Jiazhai. They too had experienced a tragedy and had already reported it.
The place was very bright, also a Second-level Fire Spring, suitable for establishing a town.
"Little brother, are you here alone?" The people of Liu Jiazhai were somewhat disappointed to see Qin Ming, so young. Could it be they had offended someone and were sent here on a punitive assignment?
Qin Ming produced a string of Wolf Teeth, and immediately, the old village chief of Liu Jiazhai perked up, overwhelmed with excitement, and asked, "Little brother, you’re so capable, you’ve resolved the wolf trouble in the neighboring village?"
He didn’t beat around the bush, quickly recounting the details; a Bird Demon appeared from time to time, already having devoured four people.
"It’s too savage. Liu Dazhuang had undergone a Second Rebirth already, but when the Bird Demon flew down, one swipe of its claws opened up his skull right in front of his house. It coolly sucked out his brain and then devoured more than half of his flesh."
The old village chief suspected that this Bird Demon could have caused bloodshed elsewhere, not exclusively focusing on their area; otherwise, it could have been even worse.
"Do you know where its nest is?" Qin Ming was unwilling to wait any longer, wanting to take the initiative to search for it; any further delay might mean another human life lost.
"It’s likely in the dense forest about a dozen miles away..." the old village chief said, trembling as he pointed towards the old woods in the distance.
Upon hearing this, Qin Ming set off immediately.
Half a two-hour period later, he found the Bird Demon described in the dossier in the dense forest. Five meters long, with gray-black plumage, a human face, and a beak sharp as a curved blade.
Moreover, it was a pair of Bird Demons, nesting on a large old tree and had laid five speckled eggs. If these hatched into chicks, the calamity would be even greater.
Moments later, Qin Ming drew his bow and shot down one Bird Demon, severely wounding another, leaving it alive to learn more about the situation.
From the surviving Bird Demon, he learned that the pair couldn’t make it on the Shenshang Plain, so they came to the outskirts to breed and nourish their young, actually being the outcast weaklings.
Qin Ming smashed it with a slap, and then with a punch, the bird nest exploded, sending egg yolk splattering in all directions.
This was Qin Ming’s first time executing an extermination mission, leaving no survivors, regardless of "age or youth."
Qin Ming continued on his way without rest, resolving issues for four villages all in one day.
In the territory he was responsible for, there was only Shibao Village left, where the bloodshed was the most difficult to handle.
This involved an old monster with extremely profound Daoist skills, said to have lived at least a hundred years.
After learning the full story, Qin Ming’s expression was very grave.
The people of Shibao Village were gloomy, sighing in distress, because this old monster had some connections with their village.
"Is there some hidden backstory?" Qin Ming asked in detail, seriously.
"It’s an old donkey from our village who left. As they say, an old dog returns to the mountain, and this donkey became more demon-like with age, eventually running off into the depths of the Shenshang plain."
An old donkey from a hundred years ago, due to being "enslaved" in Shibao Village, endured hard labor day in and day out, eventually mutating and making a name for itself on Shenshang plain before coming back for revenge.
Two years ago, it had already wreaked havoc, killing more than a dozen people, all descendants of its former master. Now, it no longer comes to the village often but has abducted many people to serve it on Jilei Mountain.
Qin Ming was lost in thought, an old donkey on a revenge quest? After a hundred years, it still remembered.
The key point was, it also had three sworn demon brothers, the Silver Wolf King being one of them. There was also a giant beast and a terrifying Black Roc.
Qin Ming was grim, fearful of the hundred-year-old monster. He was wary of the Silver Wolf King and now concerned about the other two monsters.
Killing any one of them would likely attract revenge from the other three old monsters.
Always one to overestimate his opponents, Qin Ming felt this was a mission of Hell level difficulty!
He seriously assessed; even if a top mutant who had undergone rebirth nine times came here to solve the problem, he suspected it would likely end badly.
Unless one ignored the lives of the people in Shibao Village, managed to kill the Old Donkey, and immediately fled far away, leaving this place for good.
But that would not be solving the problem; it would incite an even greater blood disaster, with the other three old monsters certainly seeking mad revenge, possibly slaughtering whole villages or towns.
"Were the bloodshed cases Cui Chongxuan, Zhuo Ya, and Cao Wuji faced just as difficult?" Qin Ming suddenly felt that it wasn’t so easy to enter the Mountain Sect of the Six Imperial.
He did not act rashly, as there was plenty of time left; Elder Zhou Tao of the Six Imperial Ancestor Court had given them half a month to return.
In the following two days, Qin Ming quietly entered Shenshang Plain to learn about the four old monsters, carefully approaching their territories, looking for an opportunity.
On Jilei Mountain, more than twenty young men and women dressed in tattered clothes were cooking and washing clothes for the likes of Donkey Demons, Dog Demons, Rat Demons, and such, preparing food.
The Old Donkey had dozens of underlings. On ordinary days, it was carried around in a sedan chair, sitting there solemnly with its donkey face stretched long, looking very imposing.
The Wolf Palace was not small in scale, and it was actually quite magnificent. Constructed mainly with Crimson Crystal Stone from the plains of Shenshang, its entirety was a vivid red that, under the reflection of Fire Spring, seemed like it was smeared with blood.
Although he was very far away, Qin Ming only caught a brief glimpse, but he felt that the Silver Wolf King seemed even stronger than Master Huang, truly a formidable opponent.
The key point was that it had over a hundred underlings, all of them tall Wolf Monsters.
Qin Ming most wanted to make a move on it because among the four old monsters, it was actually the weakest one. The two strongest were naturally the giant beast and the Black Roc.
Furthermore, if the Silver Wolf King was a failed Silver Creature, then the silver blood residue inside its body could help Qin Ming undergo rebirth seven times!
If he could break through again, climbing to a higher level of strength, he might be able to solve all four old monsters!
Qin Ming gazed in the direction of the Wolf Palace, quite covetous, but he knew very well that unless he could succeed with one strike, he himself would be in great danger.
After all, the territories of the four old monsters were not very far from each other.
Qin Ming loitered around Shenshang Plain, encountering many monsters and human adventurers. He had tried inviting others to join him in slaying demons, but as soon as they heard who he intended to face, they immediately refused.
"This monster likely has strange blood!"
Qin Ming had observed the giant beast many times; its body was covered in crimson scale armor, not the mountainous giant mutant beast of legends.
It was a bit larger than an elephant, but to ordinary humans, especially those on the outskirts of Shenshang plain, it definitely qualified as a giant beast.
The next day, Qin Ming saw the Black Roc, coated entirely in dark luster, flying away from the mountain it occupied, heading deep into Shenshang plain.
Instantly, he felt spirited, as if an opportunity had arrived.
During this time, perhaps the giant beast should be eating?
He wove through the forests, nearing the giant beast’s dwelling place.
The giant beast looked like a fire lion cloaked in crimson scale armor, with firelight within its gaping mouth and nostrils. It fed on various Alien Species, including mutated elephants.
Its feeding scene was immensely bloody. It sat there, gnawing on an elephant leg with its large paws, its fresh blood staining the ground red.
"It has eaten half an elephant. Judging by its habits, it’s likely to sleep for half a day. I must not let this opportunity slip away!"
Qin Ming disappeared from the spot, swiftly approaching the Wolf Palace!
This time, he was going all out, preparing to strike with lethal force.
In the night, Qin Ming drew his Mutton Fat Jade Iron Blade, silently waiting for the best opportunity.
The Wolf Palace, mainly constructed of Crimson Crystal Stone, was grand, towering, and as red as blood, exerting a profound sense of oppression.
Half an hour later, the Silver Wolf King came out for some air after feasting on fresh flesh. It walked upright, over four meters tall, and exceptionally sturdy. Its silver fur was flowing with a resplendent glow in the night, very eye-catching.
After shooting out four Jade Iron Arrows, Qin Ming didn’t wait to see if they hit their mark. Holding the Jade Iron Blade, he charged up with the speed of a gale.
The Silver Wolf King grunted. It took two arrows but avoided the vital areas. The blood sprayed on its silver fur as it was enraged beyond measure, about to howl towards the sky.
Qin Ming flicked an arrow straight toward its gaping maw as the Silver Wolf King swiftly shut its mouth and dodged with a toss of its head.
With a bang, a dazzling blade light erupted. Qin Ming closed in on the Silver Wolf King and a deadly battle ensued.
In this brief moment, a fierce exchange ensued, and the Silver Wolf King’s paws were left bare as if its nails had been clipped, dripping with fresh blood.
However, it managed to pull out the Wolf Fang Club. Its paws emitted light, wielding the heavy Weapon to counterstrike, continuously smashing at its adversary.
Qin Ming’s expression was solemn, facing a strong enemy, indeed very formidable. He fought with all his might as the Heavenly Light Force burned fiercely.
The Silver Wolf King was struck by his blade but did not fall, showing remarkable tenacity.
Phew!
Qin Ming held nothing back, using his strongest move, and once again inflicted a wound on the Silver Wolf King, nearly splitting its throat.
This time, the Silver Wolf King was startled, roaring in rapid succession, its entire body erupting with silver light, fighting desperately.
Many Wolf Monsters approached to assist, but none could block the fearsome blade light of Qin Ming.
"Make way!" A cold voice came from the half-sky, and all the Wolf Monsters receded like the tide.
"Big brother, you’ve finally arrived. I never expected someone would actually come to confront us!" Seeing its savior, the Silver Wolf King immediately cried out.
Qin Ming’s heart sank on the spot as he looked up to see a raptor resembling a black sun, its plumage emanating dark light, fierce, and utterly terrifying. Its wings fluttered, releasing powerful energy waves.
The ground trembled as a giant beast covered in crimson scale armor, resembling a lion with elephant blood hanging from its mouth and protruding fangs, fierce and ferocious, emerged not far away.
On the other side, the fur-shining Old Donkey arrived, carried in a sedan chair. It lifted the sedan curtain and looked over coldly.
Qin Ming sighed. He never imagined that the worst-case scenario would play out.
The four old monsters, each more ferocious than the last, had all arrived, surrounding him in the Wolf Palace.
This was the most dangerous situation Qin Ming had encountered since embarking on the Newborn Road, nothing short of Hell level difficulty!
