Chapter 124: Chapter 80 Abnormal_2

The most critical issue was that these Alien Species now saw the three of them as Blood and Flesh Elixirs, all eyeing them like predators ready to pounce.

"Boom!"

In the end, Qin Ming still collided with a large bear once, using the long-handled Wujin Hammer to smash a bear’s paw into a bloody pulp before it finally stopped chasing them.

At the same time, this also deterred the other Alien Species.

Even so, the three of them were in quite a disheveled state, having nearly been trapped amongst the army of birds and ferocious beasts just moments ago.

"I thought we had hit the jackpot, but as it turns out, we’ve been down on our luck and nearly ended up in the bellies of beasts," Zhou Lin felt that things had been going too poorly recently.

"Are there really outsiders from Fangwai there?" Qin Ming asked.

Xu Cheng shook his head and said, "Not necessarily; it could also be a Blood colored Potion that drifted out from the Outer World, used by someone else to lure the beasts."

"Do you think you might have offended some impure entity when you were a traveling merchant, Xu Cheng? How come I feel like it’s bad luck every time I go out with you?" Zhou Lin said.

"How could that be!"

After a bout of fighting, Zhou Lin and Xu Cheng were both exhausted and decided to go back to recuperate and gather energy, planning to enter the mountains again tomorrow.

"Tomorrow, as long as we can find that kind of Spiritual Shell, there’s no need to fight desperately because its combat ability is very weak."

The next day, Xu Cheng and Zhou Lin led the way, with Qin Ming following them into a swamp area in search of a very rare type of shellfish.

This area had sparser woods with puddles everywhere, and a wide range of quagmires surrounded by faint black mist.

"Do you see that? The glowing substance in the quagmire is the trace left behind by Spiritual Shells," Xu Cheng pointed to the blue mucus in the muddy water.

"Be careful. We were ambushed here last time," Zhou Lin said.

This time, they were not sneak-attacked.

But an hour later, they began to flee in a desperate rush, a group of "Mud Dragons" chasing after them like hounding dogs, boiling the entire swamp area.

It turned out that deep in the seemingly calm swamp, there was a giant nest of Mud Dragons, which looked like crocodiles but had horns on their heads and much longer legs, running much faster than crocodiles.

Each adult Mud Dragon weighed several thousand pounds, with red eyes chasing after them, mistaking them for coming to steal eggs, as part of the Mud Dragons had already begun laying eggs with the arrival of early spring.

"Ahhhhh..." After escaping the quagmire, Zhou Lin screamed continuously in anger because her whole body was covered in filth, her hair and face all caked in mud.

A woman who was originally heroic and beautiful was now a mud monkey, and she was seething with rage, "Xu Cheng, there’s definitely something wrong with you; we’ve been constantly running into bad luck recently!"

"It’s not my fault, who knew that the trace left by the Spiritual Shell would lead straight into the Mud Dragons’ den!" Xu Cheng, too, was fired up with anger and even suspected someone was intentionally harming him.

Qin Ming was also quite frustrated; he had also rolled around in the mud pits, and now the three of them were in the same sorry state.

Without a doubt, Zhou Lin had once again turned into Sister Fenfang, swearing all the way from the mountain to the city.

"Don’t be angry, tonight I’ll go see my traveling merchant master and ask him where the Spiritual creatures have appeared recently, and where it’s safe enough," Xu Cheng tried to calm her down.

Many people in the city stared at the mud monkey Zhou Lin, making her even more infuriated.

"Brother Xu, why don’t you let your master check to see if there’s anything wrong with you first," Qin Ming said, wiping the mud off his face.

In fact, Xu Cheng himself started to doubt his life and nodded, saying, "Alright, I’ll have him check it out thoroughly tonight."

Early in the morning, Chixia City was splendid as the three set off again.

"My master said there’s nothing wrong with me," Xu Cheng explained right away upon meeting, insisting that it was not his fault.

"We’re going to Hong Wu Cave this time? There’s a huge swarm of Fire Bats, terrifyingly numerous, we can’t afford to provoke them!" Zhou Lin shook her head.

Xu Cheng said, "It’s not about provoking the Fire Bats, but there’s a cold pool in there connected to an underground river, where Spirit Eels have appeared."

Hong Wu Cave was situated within the belly of the mountain. The three delved deeper following a fissure in the ground. Inside, it wasn’t very dim, as there was a Fire Spring undergoing resurgence within the mountain.

"We won’t disturb the Fire Bats of Hong Wu Cave, will we?" Qin Ming was worried.

Shaking his head, Xu Cheng said, "Don’t worry, Hong Wu Cave is vast, we are now heading in the opposite direction of the bat nest."

They arrived near a cold pool in Hong Wu Cave, the black pool water bone-chillingly frigid, where a flash of colorful radiance could be seen disappearing in the blink of an eye, confirming the presence of Spirit Eels for sure.

"Bait, rods, harpoons, big nets, I’ve brought them all, fully prepared, it’s time to harvest!" Xu Cheng said confidently.

Zhou Lin was disdainful, saying, "Stop talking like that, I’ve developed a psychological shadow now just coming out with you."

Half a two hours later, the entirety of Hong Wu Cave was filled with the rustling of wings non-stop, as a vast number of Fire Bats mobilized, covering the sky and sweeping across different areas.

"Why are there so many?" Qin Ming felt horrified, as they were indomitable.

Xu Cheng said, "There are too many mutated bugs in the big mountain. These are the Fire Bats that the City Lord’s Mansion specifically instructed everyone not to touch, using them to control pests, leading to the numbers here growing bigger and bigger."

In the end, the trio found themselves cornered and jumped into the cold pool, fleeing along the underground river.

Along the way, they kept looking for exits, trying to get back to the surface, only finding a few spots to breathe, swimming out more than ten miles before finally emerging from a lake in the mountain.

"Ah ah ah..." Zhou Lin couldn’t help herself but to warn Xu Cheng again, urging him not to ask her out again next time.

"It’s not Brother Xu’s fault. I’ll go back and check!" Qin Ming spoke up, a cold look flashing in his eyes, as he felt it couldn’t be such a coincidence, seeming very much like someone deliberately targeting them.

Though they escaped safely each time, a slight mishap could have resulted in death.

Moreover, considering these incidents, if someone were manipulating things from behind the scenes, they would wish for them, or rather for him, to naturally lose their life in the mountains.

"Has an invisible big hand reached out from afar?" Qin Ming doubted, because if it really were those people, the situation would be ten times more intense and terrifying than now.

"Could it be some little bastard who’s come here, someone I handled back then, now trying to undermine me with these methods?" He speculated silently.

"What did you say, could he possibly withstand six or seven waves of Heavenly Light?!" In the City Lord’s Mansion, Meng Xinghai stood up abruptly upon hearing a report from a man in black.

That day, he had been drinking in the Mountain God Temple with a group of nobles, enjoying the spectacle above the Thunder Fire Alchemy Hall, unaware of the specifics inside the Golden Hall.

"Is the news reliable?"

The man in black said, "Corpse Collector Xu Hai vomited blood and died two days ago. Before his death, he told his family that he might have killed a genius due to his own greed. He deliberately allowed that young man to endure six or seven waves of Heavenly Light, and as a result, he met with retribution himself."

"That’s remarkable! Hmm, keep this matter to yourself, do not speak of it again!" Meng Xinghai told his confidant.

He waved his hand, signaling the man in black to leave.

Standing by the window, Meng Xinghai said, "To withstand so many waves of Heavy Heavenly Light without dying, such talent... will make the Cui Family regret."

He revealed a smile and said, "A group of the most outstanding Outer Disciples are competing for that legendary item, said to be in the spirit cave where Heavenly Light is unusually dense. It seems Qing Yue might succeed with a new Golden Armor Guard, and become the ultimate winner."
