Chapter 123: Chapter 80 Abnormal
Behind Qin Ming and Xu Cheng, Chixia City was as bright as day, constructed out of bluestone, the high and heavy city walls emanated clear brightness.
But in front of them was a night fog, with towering mountains standing erect, casting heavy shadows, the scene shaded and dark.
In front and behind them, it was like two completely different worlds.
Xu Cheng said, "After the first rumbles of Spring Thunder, the mountains temporarily dimmed, but in a few days, when the underground Fire Spring fully revives and surges, the wilderness will present a completely different marvelous sight."
Even now it was different, most of the ice and snow had melted, one could smell the scent of the earth, and even some old trees had new buds on their branches.
"Could our luck be changing?" Zhou Lin was somewhat excited, pointing ahead with her long spear.
At this moment, they had already delved deep into the mountain ranges.
"Could that be a Mutated Plant? Damn, my luck is turning!" Zhou Lin was only in her twenties, but she referred to herself this way, simply because of her bold nature.
"It seems that it really is that kind of plant enriched with strong Spiritual essence, just born; we might still make it in time!" Xu Cheng was also shocked.
No need for more words now, the three of them sprinted forward.
In the forest, a special ancient tree, adorned with silver flowers blooming and continuously glowing, gradually illuminated the dense woods.
Mutated Plants could cause various birds and beasts to mutate, and if humans consume them, they could enhance their physiques and experience a rapid rebirth.
This wasn’t Qin Ming’s first encounter with a Mutated Plant; once, he and Xu Yueping went to Yinteng Town and saw Crimson Butterfly in full bloom along the way.
Unfortunately, they were too far away at the time, and the petals had already been blown into the night sky by the strong wind.
"We’ve really made it in time!" Xu Cheng was ecstatic.
Ahead in the mountain forest, an old tree was sprouting and flowering rapidly, with a halo of light illuminating all around and a fresh fragrance pervading the air.
A breeze came, causing some petals to fall off, shimmering in the night like fireflies.
Mutated Plants, their "blooms" disregard seasons and have no regular patterns, making them difficult to actively seek out, and once the brilliance is over, they completely wither and die.
It was precisely because of this, Zhou Lin and Xu Cheng were so excited; it could be said they had hit the jackpot.
"Xiao Qin, don’t hesitate, don’t leave even a single petal!" Xu Cheng reminded.
"The Alien Species in the mountains will soon arrive, hurry up." Zhou Lin thrusted with her spear, and with a snap, a thick branch fell down.
"Roar!" Wild beasts roared, stirring the nearby creatures.
Although Qin Ming and Xu Cheng wanted to run away carrying the whole old tree, it was unrealistic; giant Raptors had already appeared in the sky, swooping down.
The appearance of a Mutated Plant always causes chaos; no one can monopolize it.
"Ah spit, why is there a smell of blood?" Just as Zhou Lin put a glowing flower bud into her mouth, she spit it out again.
"Ptui!" Xu Cheng also spat, his expression changing slightly. He quickly looked down at the root of the tree, feeling a bad premonition.
"The smell of blood is strong!" Qin Ming also spoke.
Xu Cheng’s expression became solemn, "This isn’t a Mutated Plant, it’s artificially induced; could it be that an outsider is attempting to lure beasts here for the purpose of medicine refining?"
Having once been a traveling merchant with broad knowledge, he immediately performed a salute towards the depths of the mountain forest, saying, "We apologize, seniors, we have intruded unintentionally and caused offense."
"Let’s get out of here quickly!" Zhou Lin whispered.
A large claw already reached out from the sky, grabbing towards them.
Zhou Lin thrust her spear, colliding with the claw, sending sparks flying everywhere. It was a giant Raptor, about ten meters long, with black wings as sharp as blades, cutting through some tree crowns while it flew low, its eyes gleaming with golden light.
"Roar!"
Under the night in the mountain forest, a massive number of beasts rushed over, the dense black figures soaring close.
"It’s only been such a short time, and birds of prey and fierce beasts have nearly covered the sky, hurry and break through!"
Their expressions all changed.
The last Mutated Plant that Qin Ming discovered was outside the large mountain, quite close to Yinteng Town, therefore there weren’t any strong Alien Species.
At this moment, they were in the mountains, and their situation was extremely dangerous.
"A fifth-level mutated python, coming out from underground in early spring!" Xu Cheng’s face turned dark, facing a python as thick as a water barrel charging at him.
"Is it a spiritual creature?" Qin Ming actively went for the kill.
"No, it has potent venom, beware of its poisonous fog!" Xu Cheng urgently warned.
The large python opened its mouth, and actually surged out a gust of wind, a burst of colorful light fog rushing out.
Qin Ming had Heavenly Light flowing over his body, and at the first chance, he dodged; there was no need to fight a non-spiritual creature to death.
The python was fierce; with one tail flick, it snapped some trees as thick as human thighs, coiling towards Qin Ming.
Thud!
Qin Ming smashed down with a hammer, the python’s tail instantly becoming a bloody mess, severing a portion.
Meanwhile, Zhou Lin clashed twice with a Golden Leopard with her long spear.
Xu Cheng, on the other hand, faced a four-meter tall black bear and angrily said, "I’ve been so unlucky lately, every time I go to the mountains something happens, even you blind bear dare to bully me, I’ll take your bear bile!"
He didn’t hesitate, going up and knocking down the black bear.
"Brother Xu, run quickly, there’s a bigger bear!" Qin Ming yelled.
Xu Cheng was initially startled, then his expression darkened, a bigger bear?
With a mighty roar, behind the four-meter "small bear" in the mountain jungle, a six-meter tall giant bear appeared, ominously looming over Xu Cheng.
"Roar!" The four-meter tall black small bear seemed to be tattling.
"Could it be a creature that has mutated six or seven times?" Xu Cheng felt his scalp tingle, a vast dark shadow lunged over, a horrifying bear paw smashing down.
He turned and ran.
If there was only one big bear, Qin Ming might still measure it, but right now fierce beasts and birds filled the land, they simply couldn’t stay here any longer.
