Chapter 205: TO THE QUENTIN FIEF
Three days later, Aristia instructed another servant.
"Deliver it to the address I gave you," she said, handing him a wrapped parcel.
The servant left and Aristia turned around, going to the back of the estate.
Lauren and the others were waiting beside a few horses.
Aristia went to stand in front of the horse she had chosen for herself.
The stableboys of the Hemsworth Estate helped each of them mount the horses and then climbed behind them.
"Ready?" One of the two Knights assigned with their safety asked.
"Yes." They nodded.
"Hya!" He kicked out lightly, and the horse began to move at a slow pace, its hooves creating marks on the snowy ground as they sunk in. The other horses followed behind.
While the first knight led the way and guarded the front, the other knight guarded the back.
There was a small mountain distances behind the Hemsworth Mansion. It had a narrow route that went round the mountain, making it possible to walk around the mountain to the top. The mountain was part of the Estate and a property of the Hemsworths so it as relatively safe enough for them to go to, especially since they had two experienced knights with them.
It took them a little close to an hour to reach the mountain on the pace they were using.
The mountain was not steep and horses could walk to the top. But they still left the horses behind on the ground and began to walk up the mountain.
One of the stableboys stayed behind to watch the horses, while the rest began to walk up the mountain pass.
"It’s becoming colder," Lilith said, holding Aristia’s hand.
"Yes, young miss. It’s even colder up the mountain." The knight replied, then he looked down at the ground. "Some of these paths are slippery and uneven. You have to be very careful not to fa—"
"Ahh!"
Before he could finish his words, Lauren slipped and fell. Thankfully, the part she was walking on was wider than the other paths and so she didn’t fall off the mountain.
"My condolences, young lady." The knight helped her up. They became even more careful.
"Sorry," the others said empathetically.
Lauren dusted the snow off her clothes and glared at the ground distances away before patting her chest in relief. Just looking down at the distance between the ground and their spot made her heart race. Then she started to tread carefully.
By the time they were halfway up the mountain, they were already tired.
"Let’s rest here," the knight said in consideration of the young nobles.
They sat down on a few medium sized rocks lying around.
Aristia took out some wrapped cookies from the animalskin bag she was carrying.
"I brought cookies," she said.
"Oh cookies!" One by one, her cousins and brother each took a cookie.
When she offered them to the knights and stableboys, they refused politely.
"Thank you, princess, but forgive me for refusing." They said.
Aristia shrugged internally. Oh well. It saved them extra cookies. She thought.
After resting for a while, they resumed their trek up the mountain.
"Shall I carry you, young miss?" The first knight asked Lilith.
"What about you, young prince?" The second knight asked.
Lilith and Alaric shook their heads.
"It really is colder going up the mountain," Lauren said, pulling her shawl closer to herself.
The higher they climbed, the colder it grew.
Finally, they arrived at the top. Snow crunched beneath their boots, and the mountain air stung their cheeks.
Wind blew across the mountain, sending a light shiver up Aristia’s spine. She pulled her shawl closer.
"It’s beautiful," Lauren murmured, looking out over the Hemsworth lands.
From where they stood, they could see the Hemsworth Mansion and even the surrounding lands in the Hemsworth Estate.
Even though the trek was tiring, the view was worth it.
After sometime, the second knight spoke. "I think it’s time we return." It was almost time for the sun to set. If they didn’t return now, it would be well past the time of evening. Then it wouldn’t be safe on the mountain anymore.
A bit reluctantly, they made their way down the mountain.
The knights carried Lilith and Alaric as they climbed down the mountain.
The stableboy that was guarding the horses untied them. This time, the horses did not trot. Instead, they full on galloped through the snow.
The knights helped them come down from the horses, before bowing and leaving, while the stableboys returned the horses.
Aristia dusted the residual snow off her clothes and entered the mansion with Alaric and their cousins.
"My feet are so tired," Lauren complained. They had been walking for a long time, after all.
"I need a foot massage," Aristia seconded. She’d ask Adeline to help her with one once she was back in her room.
They each parted ways as soon as they were inside the mansion.
Aristia went to her bedroom. A minute later, Adeline stepped into the room.
"Linny," Aristia groaned, holding Millie in her arms. "I need a massage."
"A hot bath will help you feel better, princess." Adeline entered the bathroom to prepare a hot bath for Aristia.
Millie crawled out of her arms when Adeline returned to the bedroom.
Minutes later, Aristia was soaking in a bath. She relaxed against the tub as the hot water enveloped her body.
After soaking in the bath, she left the bath and made herself comfortable on her bed. Adeline began to gently massage her feet and legs, bringing relief to her sore legs. Aristia almost fell asleep, but it was dinnertime so she left for the dinning room.
"Thanks for the massage, Linny." She thanked her.
Adeline nodded with a smile.
After dinner, Aristia went to meet her parents in their room.
"Tia, is there something you need?" Catherine asked once Aristia entered. Wilson was not in the room. He, Ross and Maxim had the mansion for reasons unknown to Aristia.
"Yes, actually." Aristia replied, her legs carrying her to stand in front of her mother.
Catherine nodded for her to go on. Her hand caught a strand of Aristia’s hair, gently tucking it behind her ear.
"There is somewhere I would like to go to tomorrow."
"Oh?" Catherine paused, but nodded. "That’s alright."
"Okay. Goodnight, mama." Aristia nodded and turned to leave, but Catherine’s voice stopped her.
"Can you let me know where you want to go tomorrow?"
Aristia turned back around and nodded. "Yes..."

The next day.
Aristia walked to the dining room in high spirits. She had slept exceptionally well today. She couldn’t even remember if she had a dream or not. Baby Valen was also relatively calm.
She arrived just at the moment the servants were setting the table.
"Good morning," she greeted. Almost everyone was present in the dining table.
"Did you sleep well?" Her great-grandmother asked.
"I did, great grandma." Aristia replied while taking her seat.
There was nothing special discussed during breakfast.
After breakfast, the members of the family separated. There were no social events to attend so they mostly remained in the mansion.
But Catherine and Alistair had left the mansion to sightsee.
Aristia went to her room to spend some time with Millie. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
’Millie, where are you?’ Aristia asked through their mental connection when there was no sign of Millie in her room.
’I’m meeting the Viscount’s daemon.’ Millie replied.
’I see, so you’ve formed a mental link with Uncle Ross’s daemon?’
’Yes.’
Aristia went towards the window and leaned against it.
She stayed like that for a few minutes, just watching the servants moving in and out of the mansion.
Two hours till the afternoon, Lauren asked her to join her for tea.
Aristia got dressed before going to meet her in the garden. When she got there, Lauren was not alone. Liam was sitting beside her.
Aristia passed them a small smile before taking a seat opposite them on the bench. A maid immediately stepped up with bow and served tea before retreating to a safe distance.
"Millie didn’t come with you?" Lauren asked, but it was more like a statement. She didn’t usually see Millie very frequently. Millie preferred to stay in Aristia’s room.
"No, she’s with uncle Ross’s daemon." Aristia said.
Liam’s eyes widened before his face fell. Millie had formed a link with her father’s daemon, had done so with Ivan, and now had formed one with Ross. That meant that they would be able to communicate with each other through their daemons, but he couldn’t because he didn’t have a daemon.
[Why is he sulking?] Aristia thought on noticing his expression.
"Oh, you’re dressed up. Are you going out?" Lauren only noticed now that Aristia was dressed in more formal clothes.
"Yes," Aristia replied with a nod.
"To where?" Lauren asked, now feeling curious. She was tempted to go with Aristia.
"To the Quentin Fief,"
Her answer made her cousins stare at her with surprise.
"What?" Liam blurted out. Then he frowned.
"You’re planning to meet Miss Quentin?" He asked.
"Mm," Aristia nodded.
"You want to talk to her about what happened?" Lauren asked.
"I guess I should," Aristia said with a sigh, placing her cup down.
"You’re really going to talk to her?" Liam asked, surprised. Lauren nodded in support of the question.
"Yes, why do you both look so surprised?" Aristia asked. "What I did was wrong."
Lauren and Liam exchanged uneasy glances but said nothing to discourage her even though they didn’t agree.
[Unbelievable! They all support tyranny, even at this young age!] Was what Aristia was thinking.
"Okay..." Lauren trailed off in slight confusion. "When?"
"As soon as we’re done with having tea."
