Chapter 50: Ripped Off
Chapter 50: Ripped Off
After Idah tested and tested. Looking to find the most suitable weapon for Tim. He eventually decided that none of the weapons provided were enough for his king.
"The weapons seem to be useless my king. I would advise we go to a smiths shop to purchase a weapon that is suited for you." Idah stated as blunt as a club.
Rose looked at Idah with annoyance in her eyes. Although the weapons were not of the highest grade. They were pretty decent, because the weapons were looted from a group of battle sage’s and the it is known by all that battle sages do not make use of inferior weapons.
"Ugh, so they are useless. Oh well I guess that is our cue to leave." Tim urged, but as Tim was about to leave Rose stretched forth her hands to grab his hands to stop him.
Tim saw the attempt but he gracefully removed his hands.
"Please don’t go. I have other items that you might like. Trust me they will really be helpful." Rose said, as she spread out another scroll.
And what appeared on the sheets of the scroll shocked Tim. He saw rings, but immediately he saw the rings he had an idea of what they were.
They were storage rings!
This was a thing that was common in almost all the fantasy books that he read about magic. It was a ring that was also a storage.
It could store inanimate objects and what ever is stored could be retrieved by a mere thought. It was the real deal.
Rose seeing that curious look in Tim’s eyes smiled again.
She just wanted to make sales and her market was known to be the market of the looted. It wasn’t that the other sellers in the market did not loot. It was that she was just unlucky and her reputation in the market was damaged.
Tim not wanting to be ripped off, looked at Ottis and nodded at him.
No words were needed, the instruction was simple. Buy me the best item here.
"I would take the best storage ring you have for a silver coin. I would not want to challenge my offer if I were you." Ottis said, in a threatening and a not threatening way.
Rose understood what Ottis meant. She had to comply with their price demands or they would walk away. Usually, the storage ring that was the best amongst the one she had was 50 silver coins and above in terms of cost, but because she had ripped Tim off.
She decided to agree to Ottis price of a single silver coin.
Tim seeing Rose agree to sell her best storage ring for a single piece of silver had a single thought in mind. ’Shit!’
He definitely knew at that point that he was ripped off. Because there was no way that a storage ring was far cheaper than a random cloak that looked to have no value.
If his memories were correct then a 100 silver coins were approximately one gold coin.
He agreed to spend 100 silver coins for a single cloak that looked ordinary to the naked eye. He immediately became disappointed with his decision, so he decided to get at least all his needs from Rose.
Since she was willingly to sell her other goods at a lower cost.
"Idah, Just select for me the best sword in her stock. We are going to buy everything we would be needing here." Tim said, as he looked around the underground market that seemed to be mysterious.
.....
"I don’t know what happened, but when he came out from the inn. He had another accomplice with him. It was Ottis sir." The guard who had reported Tim’s presence had comeback to give an update.
"Hmm, where did they go to."
"Me and the troops saw them go to the underground black market. We did not follow them to not risk us being caught. But we are keeping an eye on all the exit point of the black market."
"That is good. You do not want to raise any alarm. If you cant capture them in public, wait till is late at night to strike them or better still you can just wait for them explore a dungeon then you attack them.
That way, we would not be interrupted by the town’s mage.
I might even join you in your attempt to capture the royal elf and Idah." Italo expressed while he stroke his chin.
But one of the other troop members rejected his offer.
"Sorry, but we can’t let you interrupt us in this business. All you would do is distract us. We already have a gauge on their strength.
Both Idah and Ottis are a 1 Star Sage and a 1 Star Mage respectively. Although Idah is the strongest of the 2. I can handle him properly without much stress.
The rest of the crew can capture the Ottis and the royal elf.
The elf appears to be without mana. We don’t know why that is even possible, but we would be cautious. He might be cloaking his mana signature intentionally." Jaw, the leader of the troop that was gathered spoke.
Italo looked at Jaw in silence. He did not like the fact that he was interrupted, but the power of Jaw spoke for him.
Everyone in the room where below the 2 star stage in power ranking but Jaw. He had just broken through to be a 2 Star Mage, and at the same time he was also learning to be a sage.
So, Jaw now was a threat. But it was not that Italo was completely scared of Jaw. He also had multiple tricks under his belt that could help him in the event that he fought a far more powerful foe.
"I need to have that royal elf in front of me by tomorrow evening latest, unless our contract is terminated, and you know how bad that will be for the reputation of your squad.
