Chapter 564: Chapter 511 Breaking the Cup as a Signal_2
After he finished speaking, Wu Junhao did not smile. Instead, he looked over the top of his head to the back.
A group of about a dozen people appeared beside the screen.
Once a stout man violently pushed the screen aside, the group became even more noticeable.
Standing at the forefront of the crowd was a woman dressed in a Chanel suit—Yuan Yushan.
The policemen here all sat up straight; they were all members of the special case team by now and naturally recognized one of the most core members of the Yuan Family. Yuan Jiansheng’s fourth daughter, the current general manager of Jianyuan Group and the de facto chief operating officer, Yuan Yushan.
"Officer Jiang, we meet again." Yuan Yushan used a title common among outsiders, not accurate but very clear.
Jiang Yuan smiled and nodded in response before looking at Mu Zhiyang and the others. It was now off-duty time, and since they were at a restaurant for dinner, none of them were carrying guns. In terms of numbers alone, they were not less than the opposing side, but Jianyuan dealt in drugs. If Yuan Yushan and her people now pulled out a couple of Uzis or some sort of Chicago Typewriter from under their clothes, he would not be surprised at all.
Yuan Yushan was obviously not that crazy yet; she just smiled discreetly and then, looking at Jiang Yuan, asked, "Captain Jiang, you and your team have been lingering in Qinghe City for several days. Are you investigating Jianyuan?"
That was what she had come to ask today.
From the perspective of the task force, Jianyuan seemed like a robust wild boar, just waiting to be stabbed repeatedly until it bled out and weakened, its flesh tenderized and ready to be slaughtered.
However, from Jianyuan’s perspective, they were not yet certain if they had been completely cornered. The consistent violent charges were definitely an attempt to find a way out.
Today, Yuan Yushan had sent people out of the city, and once they were gone, they vanished. But Yuan Yushan could not tell whether the person had fled on their own, been captured, or ambushed by rivals.
In such a situation, Yuan Yushan herself certainly did not dare to leave the city to probe, and her father Yuan Jiansheng was even holed up in the factory area, not returning home.
Jianyuan’s factory area was like a fortress to the Jianyuan people, providing them with the last consolation.
Yuan Jiansheng also tried calling for help, but to no avail.
Yuan Yushan and others realized that something was wrong, but to what extent, they did not know.
The police might have found clues related to Jianyuan, might have locked onto some of Jianyuan’s key figures or even gang members, but this was something Yuan Yushan and her people could not confirm.
Abruptly running away and abandoning Jianyuan Group, which was about to go public, was something Yuan Yushan was reluctant to do, and surely the gang members would have their own opinions about it.
Yuan Jiansheng did want to leave, but given his advanced age, he could only travel by transport. Not only was he an obvious target, but he also feared delivering himself right into the hands of the police.
Yuan Yushan had given it a lot of thought and, using many connections and a mix of coaxing and deceiving, had obtained a bit of information from Jiang Yuan. She took a risk and came over.
Yu Wenshu and others held too high a rank and had been leaders for too long, and she feared that carelessly approaching them would cause dissatisfaction and backfire.
Jiang Yuan, in comparison, was more suitable—lacking the baggage of official authority and being at the core of the police investigation.
Yuan Yushan stared at Jiang Yuan, her face gentle but her eyes firm.
What flashed through Jiang Yuan’s mind, however, were scenes of the roaring dump trucks, the charred bodies in the warehouse, and the death scene of Yuan Yushan’s elder brother.
The latter two scenes were his two interactions with Yuan Yushan.
In both cases, Yuan Yushan had not been implicated. In the warehouse arson and corpse-burning case, Jiang Yuan had a slight suspicion of Yuan Yushan, but later, without evidence or leads, it had passed.
Thinking back on it now, Jiang Yuan...
Jiang Yuan had not the slightest intention of a verbal duel.
After just ten seconds of thought, Jiang Yuan grabbed a plate in front of him and threw it at Yuan Yushan.
"Police! Nobody move!" Jiang Yuan rarely shouted this command.
Mu Zhiyang and Wu Junhao were both paying attention to Jiang Yuan, and seeing his signal, did not care about anything else; it was time to capture first and talk later.
Yuan Yushan was taken aback and then, her face losing its color, swiftly retreated.
She had never imagined that Jiang Yuan’s response to her would be to arrest her without a word.
Having no actual combat experience, she was at a loss for what to do for a moment.
Jiang Yuan charged ahead, leaping onto the round table and pouncing directly at the nearest suited brawny man. His height and long legs gave him an advantage, and he immediately tackled the man to the ground.
Then, Jiang Yuan used the wrestling techniques Uncle Qiang had taught him, attempting to control the man with groundwork.
Right after, Mu Zhiyang dashed over to take a punch for Jiang Yuan with his face.
Thud.
Thud thud.
The sounds of fighting, shouting, and yelling were incessant.
The scene became incredibly chaotic.
Jiang Yuan just focused on the fight, trying with all his might to subdue the opponent in front of him.
Yuan Yushan, leading such a group of suited strongmen, appeared before him in the dead of night, even inquiring about the police’s investigative direction—In Jiang Yuan’s view, this was as good as stamping the words "drug trafficker" on their foreheads.
Answering Yuan Yushan’s question was out of the question.
The only concern Jiang Yuan had was that the other side might be armed with guns, possibly even submachine guns. But then he thought, if both sides were this close and he dared not use force, wouldn’t it be even worse if Yuan Yushan and the others pulled back and drew their guns? His group of police officers would be completely at their mercy, wouldn’t they?
Yuan Yushan probably didn’t want to openly break relations yet, hoping to extract some information without attacking the police.
But Jiang Yuan was never going to answer her, and who knew if her intentions might change once they exchanged a few more words back and forth?
In fact, if the Jianyuan Group really managed to take a whole team of police officers hostage, they might indeed turn the tables.
It was an extremely dangerous situation, potentially just a brief turnaround. But for a wild boar trapped within the enclosure, the moment it injured someone might just be the best chance to escape.
Any other form of struggle was just like boiling a frog in warm water.
Jiang Yuan didn’t know if Yuan Yushan harbored such thoughts, but he certainly wasn’t willing to take that risk.
Rather than risk being kidnapped or shot and becoming a national joke, Jiang Yuan had more faith in the capabilities of the Bald Strike Team.
In Ningtai County and even in Qinghe City, Wu Junhao and his squad were famously known as the bulldozer squadron.
Over the past few years, they had indeed fought tough battles, participated in multiple real combat operations, successfully arrested drug traffickers, and faced the threat of firearms.
Jiang Yuan chose to trust Wu Junhao.
"Police, get down and cover your heads!" Wu Junhao shouted again, throwing himself at another strong man.
Wu Junhao was also mindful of the firearm issue, so he dared not let the enemy create distance between them, preferring to cover himself in vegetable soup to tackle and subdue the person.
It was already a messy fight, and messy fights called for messy tactics.
"Let’s go." The bodyguard close to Yuan Yushan, seeing the scene, didn’t hesitate any longer and started pulling Yuan Yushan to run away.
Yuan Yushan staggered as she was pulled, looked back for a moment, but ultimately didn’t dare to stay.
At the same time, Jiang Yuan looked up to see Yuan Yushan and two bodyguards had already run about ten meters away and simply let them go.
Chasing them down was too risky; if Yuan Yushan wanted to run, let her run.
The police were in no hurry to arrest Yuan Yushan and Yuan Jiansheng. There was no direct evidence of their crimes at present, and capturing them would only lead to facing a rigorous examination of procedures.
What Jiang Yuan considered more pressing was to eliminate the immediate danger to his own side.
"Remember to search them," Jiang Yuan said until he could no longer see Yuan Yushan and her bodyguards, then he slowly stood up.
They had left behind 8 people, while the rest had broken free and fled in all directions.
Jiang Yuan didn’t care; he called over the restaurant staff, paid for the late-night meal himself, left the police station’s number for handling compensation, and then called for reinforcements from the special investigation team.
