Chapter 1342: Chapter 1268: 69 Commando
Night.
Amidst the dazzling lights and nightlife, many people’s lives are just beginning.
o’clock.
The street where Feichi Bar is located is already bustling with crowds. There are a dozen similar bars nearby, each with its own characteristics, but in terms of foot traffic, Feichi Bar at the center stands out.
In fact, this bar street flourished because of Feichi Bar in the first place. Cai Dachui, who initially invested here, merely intended to launder money and chase women. Unexpectedly, the bar business took off, which gave him the confidence to stay abroad for a long time.
Additionally, the people he kept around the bar gradually influenced Cai Dachui’s style to become more flamboyant. Under such circumstances, he was not well-suited to the environment back home and thus deliberately shifted his business outward.
But whether viewed from the angle of smuggling, bar management, or team leadership, Cai Dachui has been quite successful.
Sitting at the entrance of Feichi Bar, Cai Dachui held a glass of wine, smiling broadly at the guests coming and going, with a relaxed demeanor and full of confidence.
"He’s here." When Cai Dachui saw a Chinese man in a small suit, he smiled and gave his subordinates a heads-up.
The two subordinates understood immediately, approaching the man, exchanging a few words, and proceeded to search him.
Li Haochen stood at the street corner, arms outstretched and legs apart, forming a large "X" shape. He looked across the crowd that was in between him and Cai Dachui.
Cai Dachui locked eyes with him, neither backing down for more than ten seconds before he raised his glass with a smile to toast Li Haochen.
"You have a sharp eye, recognizing him from a distance," one subordinate complimented Cai Dachui smoothly.
"In business, no matter what kind, once you succeed, you become confident. Understand? This confidence cannot be faked." Cai Dachui nodded in Li Haochen’s direction, continuing slowly, "Don’t be fooled by his young appearance, bringing only one subordinate to Dama shows he’s no ordinary person."
"There’s indeed something different about him," the subordinate commented, observing Li Haochen. He thought it was a bit pretentious to wear a suit to a bar street but had to admit that Li’s good physique and "little wolf dog" vibe were well-highlighted by his outfit. He could imagine the young man making a big impact in a bar.
But Cai Dachui just laughed, "You don’t understand what I mean."
Cai Dachui recalled his early days in Dama. At that time, he was a mid-level smuggler like Li Zekai, wanting to climb higher but unsure of how to proceed.
When he first came to Dama, he was apprehensive, given it was an unfamiliar place. Though he had a gun, the locals had not only guns but also manpower.
Even so, Cai Dachui had more confidence than the average smuggler in Dama, initially because he had the Chinese market backing him, and later because of his investments in Dama.
In a sense, Cai Dachui’s willingness to meet with Li Zekai was partly with an idea to mentor the younger generation. This was mainly because, during their conversations, many of Li Zekai’s words resonated with him.
"Brother Chui," Li Haochen greeted pleasantly after passing the bodyguards and weaving through the crowd.
They had met, so there was no need to be reserved. As the saying goes, striking a smiling face wins no quarrels. Li Haochen’s mission was merely to confirm Cai Dachui’s presence and keep him occupied.
Of course, there was considerable risk involved, as the cooperating police were not his own, and pending any insider leaks or delays, Li Haochen could easily find himself in trouble.
"Anzi, is it? You look young," Cai Dachui examined Li Haochen before laughing heartily. "Give my brother a whiskey! Da Bao."
The bartender promptly took a chilled glass and a hand-carved ice ball, poured a double whiskey, and handed it to Li Haochen.
Li Haochen downed it in one go, wiped his mouth, and handed the glass back to the bartender.
The bartender poured another, and Li Haochen downed that one, too.
On the third drink, Li Haochen held it in his hand and gestured toward Cai Dachui with the glass.
"Refreshing!" Cai Dachui laughed heartily, finding Li Zekai incredibly to his taste, and couldn’t help but down his drink as well.
Without speaking, the two mirrored each other’s actions, drink for drink, until a few had passed, then, slightly tipsy, engaged in a deeper conversation.
Li Haochen talked about the current situation back home, while Cai Dachui discussed the unique aspects of Dama. For a moment, the two seemed very much in sync.
Cai Dachui grew even more pleased and beckoned for the bartender: "Bring me that bottle of vintage 70s wine I stored."
"Yes," the bartender glanced at Li Haochen momentarily before rushing off.
Cai Dachui smiled at Li Haochen: "By chance, I acquired two bottles of vintage 70s wine, verified through multiple appraisals. I’ve been hesitant to drink it myself... Speaking of which, there’s quite a story behind this batch of vintage wine..."
He exaggerated slightly, purely to enhance the perceived value of the item, facilitating communication.
Li Haochen internally breathed a sigh of relief. On his flight over, he only finished reading Cai Dachui’s profile, and his knowledge of smuggling in Yue Province was gleaned through last-minute calls to local enforcement veterans. If pressed further, he feared exposing himself. Given Cai Dachui’s current state, he naturally played along, praising Cai Dachui’s stories.
Meanwhile, organized silently around Feichi Bar were the elite forces of the Dama Police Force.
Cai Dachui had established himself here for a long time, well-acquainted with the terrain, surrounded by both people and arms. Additionally, the bar’s initial construction included a defensive mindset, making it easy to blend in.
If not for Jiang Yuan’s arrangements, the Dama Police Force might have opted for a different approach to capture him.
But today, aware that Jiang Yuan was observing from thousands of kilometers away, the Dama Police Force couldn’t afford any cowardice.
They also wanted to demonstrate to Jiang Yuan.
Not only for more mutual cooperation in the future but also for the honor and dignity of the Dama Police Force itself. It’s akin to Sino-foreign collaborations; even if you are the one benefiting, you still strive to prove yourself.
A victory without dignity isn’t success!
The Dama Special Forces in black combat gear, armed with Glocks, MP5s, and M4A1s, arrived in civilian vehicles on bar street. Suddenly, they flung open the car doors, broke through the bewildered crowd, and headed straight for Feichi Bar.
This elite force, established in 1969, known as the 69 Special Forces, was early on trained by the UK’s Special Air Service regiment. It’s a battalion-level unit composed of four infantry squadrons, fully equipped for police assistance, counter-terrorism, jungle warfare, and more.
Although the Dama 69 Special Forces might not stand out among global special units, they’re incredibly effective in capturing a gang of smugglers, as they arrive suddenly, heavily armed.
Cai Dachui, slightly tipsy, barely rose to his feet before being struck on the head with a black gunstock.
Li Haochen was forcefully pinned down over the bar, receiving no special treatment whatsoever.
But the satisfaction filled Li Haochen’s heart, making him feel no pain at all.
"You’ve got the wrong person!" Cai Dachui struggled. Not hearing any gunshots, he assumed there was hope.
The one holding him didn’t speak, only found him noisy, and forcefully hit him again with the butt of the gun.
Just then, a special officer’s long weapon was lowered to the ground in front of Cai Dachui. The M4A1’s matte end revealed a silencer.
The struggling Cai Dachui was suddenly stunned.
What is this? Why is a unit with silencers targeting me? Are they police or smugglers disguised as police?
"Director Jiang, this is the gang leader Cai Dachui." Suddenly, a Dama officer spoke in Chinese.
Cai Dachui involuntarily looked up, only to see a phone screen in his face.
"Indeed, it’s Cai Dachui. Good job," Jiang Yuan replied from the other side of the video. He had photos of Cai Dachui from previous years and was able to confirm it with his forensic eye.
"It’s our honor to capture the gang leader Cai Dachui for you," the Dama officer said politely, with a hint of pride mixed with courtesy.
Only Cai Dachui was bewildered: "What gang leader? How am I a gang leader?"
"Make him shut up," the Dama officer said coldly, then eagerly flattered the man on the virtual screen: "Director Jiang, let us know if you have any requests. We can assist with the interrogation or send him over to you ourselves."
"We’ll come and get him ourselves. Thank you," Jiang Yuan replied with a smile.
"Will you be coming over? Oh, you would? Well, alright. The Special Forces will keep a close watch, making any escape unlikely."
"That would be best, thank you," Jiang Yuan expressed his gratitude once more with a smile.
"What do you mean ’gang leader’? There’s no gang leader here..." Cai Dachui mumbled, his heavily bleeding head lifting slightly.
