Chapter 994: Chapter 360: Goodbye Dreyne
Two Pale Blades shot out, penetrating the defense formed by the life energy and deeply embedding into the flesh of the Giant Dragon’s tail.
The Pale Knight’s Magic Eye on his chest burst forth with white light, and his entire chest and abdomen swelled, pumping foam like a bellows through his arms and into the dragon’s flesh.
The foam rapidly assimilated and corrupted all surrounding flesh into a pale hue, spreading along the vascular walls before bursting into speed once it reached the main artery, like a wild horse hitting the freeway.
The Life Energy protecting the Giant Dragon did not defend against or constrict the foam, rather, its immune system regarded it as part of itself, allowing the foam to devour freely. Within a few breaths, the dragon, over three hundred meters in length, turned completely pale inside and out.
The Elemental Mantra represents Life Alliance’s life, and the Pale Knight embodies the life of The Void. Both their origins point to the Great Cosmos, are macroscopic life branches that merge together without rejection.
It could even be said that the Pale Knight’s life is closer to the source, as Life Alliance’s life is a sort of distorted imitation, the two paths growing closer and eventually merging into one.
"Roar roar roar————"
Saina, transformed into a Giant Dragon, hung suspended mid-air, her mouth and nostrils spewing chunks of foam. In her fearful dragon eyes, her irises turned into writhing white tendrils that sealed her black pupils completely.
Dozens of other dragon heads around her stopped spewing Dragon Breath; energy orbs held in their mouths popped like bubbles and the Magic Arrays disappeared as each dragon head dissipated back into the elemental energy of The Four Elements.
At this moment, the horrific onslaught of wind and rain came to an abrupt halt.
Following this, the Green Dragon’s fleshly body began to melt and large amounts of foam flowed out through the gaps in its Life Armor, cascading downwards like a waterfall towards the ground.
In no time, the Life Armor turned into an empty shell shaped like a dragon, the Green Dragon’s flesh having completely fallen to the ground.
The twisted foam stirred and spiraled, then retracted to reveal the form of the Pale Knight.
William felt his skin crawl. He knew that Wayne had two faces, but he hadn’t imagined that the Wayne from the Outer World would look like this, or that he’d fall head-over-heels for this Wayne, but feel nothing for the Inverted World’s Wayne. So...
Is this his sense of aesthetics?
That’s insane!
William gasped in disbelief, shaking his head to reassure himself: "Don’t panic, it’s not a big problem. He’s a bit ugly, but there’s a certain intensity of beauty in him. The Dark Goddess must have seen his face and then..."
"Yes, that’s it, my aesthetics align with the Goddess, it’s Divine Aesthetics!"
William shook his head self-consoling, although to little effect, still struggling to convince himself.
The dragon-shaped Life Armor collapsed. Wayne had only taken Saina’s body, without corrupting her thoughts. She contracted Anastasia’s ailment, desperately needing an empty shell to house her thoughts.
For a Naturalist Knight in possession of the Elemental Mantra, it was a simple task. Saina, using her thoughts to guide the Elemental Mantra, reformed The Four Elements into a new human body for herself.
Human flesh could be mimicked, but Dragon Blood was too complex, beyond her current capabilities.
Saina hovered in mid-air, clad in white Life Armor, clutching the restored Elemental Mantra, her face as pale as paper, utterly devoid of color.
A Mage’s realm is balanced; her new body did not align with her thoughts, under such disrupted balance, her strength was greatly diminished. Despite possessing massive mental magic power shaping an oceanic tide, she could no longer perform the world-annihilating Dragon Language Magic.
Gods do not concern themselves with the Inverted World; here, Divine Arts are unworkable, normal Faith Magic is mediocre, the reason for the considerable reduction in overall power of the Magic Realm.
"Pontiff Saina, as you can see, I come from The Void."
The Great Eyeball pulsated ripples, a low whisper penetrating Saina’s ears, which she didn’t want to hear, fearing her own thoughts might get corrupted, yet these whispers permeated everywhere, persistently clear no matter what she did.
Saina felt she might go mad, holding the Elemental Mantra and charging away.
If you can’t beat them, run. Decisive and straightforward.
A golden light flashed, a small sun reformed in front of Saina; William’s eyes turned blood-red, grinning wickedly as he raised his arms.
"Get out of the way!"
"Naturalist Knight, it’s time to pay your debts!"
William’s expression was fierce, eerily reminiscent of Austin’s when facing Death Knight Wayne, as he let out a forceful cry, a golden orb blossoming into a blinding light.
Take that!
A golden shockwave swept across, a terrifying blast cleansing all directions. Saina raised the Elemental Mantra to split the tempest, briefly stalemating before her body seemed to be crushed by a world-turning heavy pressure, uncontrollably falling to the ground.
With a loud boom, dust clouds soared into the sky.
Saina stood in the crater’s ruins, leaning on her Elemental Mantra, red-hot magma dripping slowly along her Life Armor. She looked up at the Sun Knight blocking the sky and the Pale Knight standing on the crater’s edge, her face twisted in an awful expression.
She couldn’t beat them, nor could she escape.
Was she really going to be stuck with them for a month?
Saina narrowed her eyes, her intense homicidal rage filling her bloodshot eyes, preferring a glorious death over surrendering to the enemy and enduring endless torment.
Saina was well aware of her own situation; she had slaughtered The Sun Church, cut through most of The Dark Church, and personally killed Pope Ivan. William and Anastasia could never forgive her.
Even if she surrendered, it was a dead end.
With death inevitable either way, she’d rather fight to the death now. With some luck, she might even take someone down with her.
