Chapter 986: Chapter 358: I Have a Speedrun Guide for the Dungeon
The Moonlight Longsword pierced into the eye socket of the Death Knight Wayne’s skeleton, unbias, hitting the right side squarely.
The pure white light extinguished the red dots flickering in the eye sockets, intense pain invaded the Death Knight’s mind, and he awoke from his shock, letting out an angry roar. Ghostly death claws and skulls wrapped around him surged forward, intent on devouring Wayne completely.
Wayne, suspended in mid-air, pushed his wrist forward, then flicked it downward.
The Moonlight Longsword, mostly corroded by the death aura, still retained some remnants; its blade traced a brilliant path, taking away fragments of white bone.
In the instant when the death aura closed in around him, Wayne extracted himself, calmly notched an arrow to his bow, guided by thought for his escape, and exited the exploding tide of death aura in the nick of time.
"Ah ah ah————"
A scream echoed in the sky above the Grand Cemetery; Death Knight Wayne raised his hand to cover his skeletal face, the right side of his skull pierced by the Moonlight Longsword, mirroring the left side injury.
"Feels better now."
Wayne landed lightly, the obsessive-compulsive in him finding it awkward to look at the Death Knight with a wound only on one cheek, so he took matters into his own hands, adding a similar mark, immediately making it look much more symmetrical.
Within the swirling fog of death aura, Death Knight Wayne roared to the sky, the sword scars on both sides of his cheeks stark, like the tear streaks of crying, fittingly dramatic in the negative-filled Inverted World.
Austin did not take pleasure in the beautiful agony of his foe’s pain; he was merely waiting to strike him down while he was weak. His hand lifted an endless dark light above his head, striking directly at Death Knight Wayne and the Undead Warhorse.
Terrifying darkness surged forth, like a demonic dragon descending, and the moment the sword’s momentum struck, everything around was obliterated by the intense darkness.
Boom!
A loud noise, as the heavy sword descended upon the Death Knight’s head. He failed to dodge while atop his horse, and the darkness grazed his head, chopping into his shoulder.
Death Knight urgently controlled death aura to strike back, the massive force coming at him, the Undead Warhorse beneath him losing footing, the front half of its body sinking into the ground.
Cracks spread across the Death Knight’s armor, he roared, warding off the attack with his sword, falling into the ground with the Undead Warhorse, the surging death aura corroding the surrounding ground, just barely stopping the trend of sinking.
Yet the dark sword light persisted, each descent chipping away at Wayne’s armor, screeching and popping open a fissure.
Then, Wayne released the string of White Night’s Pledge Bow, the dazzling moonlight arrow tore through the air, bypassed the death aura defense, turning into a streak of lightning-fast light hitting Death Knight’s black armor on the chest.
Unbiased, straight into the armor’s crevice.
This blow seemed like the last straw that broke the camel’s back.
The black armor fissure exploded; black fragments scattered in all directions, the arrow’s force continued relentlessly, breaking through the Death Knight’s chest bone, piercing into the hollow cavity, grinding his thoughts to pieces inside.
Death Knight’s body stalled, his hand holding Shadowmare paused for a moment.
Just that moment was enough to no longer prevent the descent of the dark light.
Boom!!!
Austin’s eyes blazed red; the chance to kill Death Knight Wayne was within arm’s reach, ignoring his own endurance, he released an unlimited black light, pushing past his limits.
In pain, he surpassed his peak, the terrifying energy fluctuations cleansed the Twilight Deadlock and beyond, suddenly contracting into one beam, harnessing the energy from all directions for himself, all channeled onto Twilight Deadlock’s blade.
The dark sword light pressed down, crashing down over Death Knight’s black armor, slicing off a white bone arm to the ground.
The arm hit the ground, releasing death aura all around, returning to a corporeal state, then corroded back to bone.
Face, chest, arm each had suffered heavy blows, before Death Knight Wayne could cry out in pain, a blazing golden light expanded in front of him, the dazzling radiance instantly overwhelming him.
Boom, boom, boom!
A gold and red mushroom cloud rose, the entirety of Lundan shook violently with the explosion and resulting shockwaves, the energy hurricane in a flash leveled all surrounding matter, leaving nothing but a barren wasteland.
At the center of the explosion, a river of searing heat rose, the earth interlaced with red glimmers, piping hot magma pouring into the crater.
A dark portal opened, and the Death Knight, with his battered armor, escaped the ordeal by leaping out on his Undead Warhorse, a sorry sight.
Three figures arrived almost instantaneously, Black Sword, White Bow, Golden Spear—Three Divine Artifacts aimed at him, thought locked on, a barrage of critical hits imminent.
"Wayne!"
Death Knight Wayne ignored Austin and William, his red glowing eyes locked onto Wayne, his voice venomous as if casting a curse, "You’ve betrayed your faith once again! Last time, you were but a lapdog of the Heavenly Father’s Court, now a slave to the Moonlight Goddess!"
"Capable people are valued everywhere!"
Wayne scoffed, dismissing the idiocy of being called a lapdog or a slave; the Wayne of the Outer World had no understanding of the joy of life in the Inverted World.
No surprise, he was special, after all; he and the Wayne of the Inverted World were never the same person.
Wayne was well aware of this, knowing who he was, where he came from, what had been on his schedule—things completely unknown to the Inverted World’s Death Knight Wayne, who actually believed that he was facing himself from the Outer World.
"Austin, Sun Knight, I don’t want to fight with you right now. I want to settle the score with him." The Death Knight brandished his sword at Wayne, determined to fight to the death today.
This was the gift from the Goddess of Death; he had been waiting for this day for a long time.
"You think we’ll just agree to a duel because you say so? Do the three of us not have any dignity?"
Wayne could beat the Death Knight in a duel, but there was no need; one didn’t need to talk about knightly honor when dealing with devils and heretics, just overwhelm them and be done with it.
