Chapter 954: Chapter 350 Inverted World
"What is it, you’re my master?"
The sense of déjà vu was overwhelming, and Wayne couldn’t help but make a comment.
The devoted Black Robe, hearing the hoarse voice, was immediately taken aback. When she lifted her head, Wayne was also stunned.
"Devil?"
"Mina?"
Wayne looked in surprise at the Philomena in front of him. Under the black robe was a face so aged it was nearly unrecognizable.
Her dazzling golden hair had turned dull and yellow, her eyes blood-red as if dripping blood, her cheeks gaunt and deformed causing her cheekbones to protrude, with purple-black eyeshadow, dark lipstick, and a thick foundation covering her aged appearance.
Was this still the Philomena from one of the three luxury cars?
If Wayne didn’t know her from the inside out, down to every corner of her being, he would have thought she was a completely different person.
"Do you know me?"
Philomena stood up and stepped back, crossing her arms behind her, clutching the Waning Moon Single-edged Sword and Full Moon Pistol, guarding against the devil she did not know why had come.
The Magic Array summoning had gone wrong. This was not the person she intended to summon.
"Mina, you’ve gotten old..."
Wayne sighed. By the poor negative energy in the air, this was definitely not the God-chosen Continent. If he wasn’t wrong, he might have arrived in the Inverted World.
Hexuno/Mona wasn’t there, it was unknown whether they entered the Inverted World together and were summoned to another place, or successfully returned to the God-chosen Continent.
If it was the latter, taking the same route, why was his luck so bad?
He had consumed an Ancient Silver Coin and was a person blessed with luck.
Wayne complained to himself. Had he known that protecting his secretary and lover like this would turn out this way, he wouldn’t have tried to act like some warm-hearted good guy.
Despite that, Wayne felt somewhat relieved. Luckily, it was he who entered the Inverted World. If his secretary and lover had disappeared, the troubles he’d face in searching for them would have been inevitable.
Since he had come, he should now return. The Inverted World was not a place for him. The urgent task was to quickly go back.
Wayne vividly remembered what was described about the Inverted World: a dark, brutal, despairing world made up of the negative aspects of the Outer World, a sad world that acts as both a dumping ground and a powder keg of the Outer World. When the negative energy reached an unbearable limit, the Inverted World would collapse.
In other words, this world would explode.
The Inverted World had its own independent storyline; the moment it was born, the script went into a runaway mode due to the negative energy.
After exploding, due to a mirror effect, the Inverted World would replicate the Outer World one-to-one, continuing as a dumping ground, recursing the same old path.
Revive, explode, revive again, explode again...
This world had no future.
Like the present Philomena, she was noble and beautiful in the Outer World, a sight to behold, but now... even calling her an old witch seemed a bit too kind.
Wayne looked at Philomena with pity, remembering how much she cared about her appearance. Her current haggard appearance must be very upsetting to her.
"Who exactly are you, and why do you know my name?"
Philomena demanded harshly. Knowing her name was one thing, but calling her so intimately made it seem like they were close.
"It’s me..."
Wayne dispelled his Devil Form, pressed the unfinished Philosopher’s Stone to his chest, and pointing to his own freeloading pretty boy face said, "Remember me? I’m Wayne. We should have met before."
Wayne had once encountered the Inverted World’s Philomena at the Capital Grand Hotel in Lucerne City, during a raid on the Moonlight Church by the Windsor Magic Department using a Projection Space. The two Philomenas fought fiercely, the Inverted World’s Philomena was gravely injured, and Wayne bandaged her wounds, casually taking her weapons.
After the Projection Space was destroyed, both weapons disappeared with the Inverted World’s Philomena. Upon meeting again, she had aged even more.
Wayne cursed their tragic fate.
Philomena recalled this face, fury flashed in her eyes, she cursed him as a shameless scoundrel, and raised her gun to fire repeatedly.
Magic Bullets burst forth like a rain of light, passing through Wayne’s body and pockmarking the cement wall behind.
Wayne’s body was also torn and tattered, the foaming essence splashing to the ground and turning into small octopuses, their tentacles squirming towards his feet.
"Mina, you’re no match for me. Don’t waste your energy."
Wayne could tell at a glance Philomena’s current magic realm. Golden Mage, not advanced to the Legendary Domain, and due to the negative factors of the Inverted World, the Golden Triangle extremely unstable, probably couldn’t even open a Life Barrier.
It was too pitiful.
Seeing this made Wayne even more heartbroken. Perhaps they were not the same person, but due to affection for the original, he couldn’t help but want to lend her a hand.
Philomena released a barrage of Magic Power Bullets, and seeing they couldn’t inflict effective harm, chanted under her breath. The Full Moon Pistol charged up completely and she aimed at Wayne’s face and pulled the trigger.
The Moonlight Bullet burst brilliantly in midair, lighting the sewer like daylight. Philomena raised her hand to cover her face and in the strong light’s cover ran deeper into the sewer.
After a few steps, she despairingly looked at Wayne in front of her, tightly clutched her weapons, a fierce red glow surged in her eyes, and she charged at him with a shout.
The barrage broke through Wayne’s chest and face, smashing him into a heap of mangled flesh, and as Philomena closed in, the Waning Moon Single-edged Sword pierced through Wayne’s chest, with the Full Moon Pistol pressed against his chin.
A burst of raging Magic Power erupted, instantly vaporizing Wayne’s chest and head.
"Is he dead?"
Philomena stepped back, gazing at the Void Lifeform before her, stared for two seconds, then turned and ran.
Bang!
She ran straight into Wayne’s arms.
Wayne held her in his embrace, sensing her strong resistance, and whispered in her ear, "It’s okay, it’s me, I won’t hurt you."
