Chapter 947: Chapter 348: Weakness and Ignorance Are Not Obstacles to Survival, Pride Is_2
Wayne’s expression was odd; he wasn’t new to this world and had seen all kinds of Devils, but such arrogance was unprecedented in his experience.
Weakness and ignorance weren’t obstacles to survival, but arrogance was.
He had only dared to grandstand by riding on an Archangel’s coattail, yet Milne had the audacity to shit and piss on Heavenly Father’s head—this wasn’t mere pride; it was madness.
Hexuno’s eyes blazed with murderous intent as he summoned the Heaven Holy Spear, pointing it towards Milne from afar.
The Holy Spear had been destroyed in a previous battle, its surface covered in cracks and at the brink of falling apart. Although Hexuno had reshaped it with his thoughts to nearly 90% new, broken meant broken. It couldn’t withstand much energy nor sustain higher-level combat.
"Fallen Hell Angel, you..."
Hexuno’s words were cut off as Wayne, beside him, pressed down on his spear, frowning at him. Wayne passed over the Oath Sword.
Thank you!
But please, don’t interrupt me when I’m in the middle of speaking.
Hexuno raised the Holy Spear and pointed the Oath Sword at Milne, chiding him coldly, "Fallen Hell Angel, I will personally retrieve the Angel’s Golden Rule within you and make you pay for your arrogance and ignorance."
"So it’s Archangel Hexuno, my apologies."
Milne dropped his haughty demeanor, reverted to the politeness of before, nodding, "You’re right, I have indeed fallen. But aren’t you the same? Look at you now, what right do you have to lecture me!"
With that, he burst into laughter.
Hexuno’s face turned ashen, and she gripped the Oath Sword tightly; the slap had sent a burning sensation across her face. Even setting aside the facts, she couldn’t find an excuse to counter.
"It’s alright, just finish him off, and you’ll still be the pure Archangel," Wayne offered helpfully.
You shut up, too!
Unable to bear it any longer, Hexuno spread her white wings, seething with killing intent, and swung the Oth Sword with all her might.
A flash of white light, and the fierce offense came hurtling down.
Wayne heard a thunderous boom beside his ear and then saw a ten-thousand-foot stream of golden light transforming into innumerable phantom lights of the Judgment Sword, encircling Milne as if to flay him alive.
To be so ruthless towards someone in the know, what then of the instigator? Swallowed whole, skin and all?
Wayne shuddered at the thought, realizing he needed to hasten the training process; otherwise, he might become today’s Milne in the future.
A loud boom, and the battlefield’s central space froze, as immense energies clashed. Entangled in a dark hurricane, the countless sword lights vanished in an instant.
The aftermath ravaged in all directions, darkness rolling out like a tide, collapsing the helpless ground under its pressure and ripping the air to shreds.
Space returned to normal, and a streak of white light flew backward, hurtling towards Wayne.
Wayne raised his hands to catch the figure, bracing against the terrifying force that struck. He morphed into the Pale Knight on the spot, feet planted firmly on the ground, and four tendrils spread out to support his balance, preventing him from being flung away with Hexuno.
Having plowed through the ground for dozens of meters, the Pale Knight came to a rough halt, his faceless visage splitting open with a vertical line, emitting a confused sound, "What’s going on, did you pull your punches?"
Hexuno offered no answer, and none was necessary. The tide of darkness receded, revealing Milne’s true form.
His face had changed little; he remained the handsome lad with black hair and golden eyes, two pairs of wings unfurling behind him—one pitch black, the other pure white—simultaneously possessing both the Seven Deadly Sins Melody and the Golden Rule Holy Words.
"Four-Winged Angel?!"
Wayne was shocked; he had only dealt with Six-Winged beings because Mona held Hexuno down. Also, their memories were continuously merging; six wings symbolized their divine status and didn’t represent their current strength.
Milne was different; the two sets of wings signified not only his status but his power as well.
"Such immense power, how could he have reached the Mortal World? Could it be the Devils have already opened the Hell Gate?" Wayne grew vigilant, preparing for the worst.
Hexuno landed firmly and watched Milne, who began to float up, with a grave expression, "It’s not as bad as you think. He only has one pair of wings. The black pair must have been given by the Lord of Envy. It’s just an addition, not a fundamental evolution."
Even so, that’s quite impressive.
Wayne frowned, "Even so, his power shouldn’t exist in the Mortal World, he..."
Perhaps it was their close interaction, or maybe Hexuno had absorbed some of Mona’s memories, but she had developed a certain rapport with Wayne, answering his questions, elaborating on why a Hell Seal was necessary.
Heaven had left a backdoor when sealing off Hell, the restraint aimed only at devils. As a fallen Hell Angel, Milne might have changed sides, but his access card was revoked; he still enjoyed this employee benefit.
At this, Hexuno felt dreadfully upset. If it weren’t for Heavenly Father’s absence, Milne wouldn’t have fallen.
Even if he had fallen, Heavenly Father would have noticed immediately and meted out punitive judgment!
Now, with Heavenly Father missing, Milne wouldn’t be punished. What about the other Angels? Might some have been tempted and fallen to become Devils? Could Hell have already found a way around the seal to arrive in the Mortal World?
These questions weighed heavily on Hexuno. She dared not dwell on them, reminding herself that the urgent task at hand was to eliminate Milne, to prevent further chaos in the Mortal World.
With this in mind, Hexuno quickly reached out to Mona, urging her not to resist, to accept more of her memories. The more they merged, the stronger they would become.
Speeding up the integration now would mean Mona would lean towards Hexuno, an irreversible cost, but faced with the imposing threat of the Hell Angel, Mona wasted no time hesitating and decisively accepted the proposal.
