Chapter 933: Chapter 344 Goddess, Do You Want to Hear What You’re Saying?
Ivan was pale as he stood before the shattered window, fine beads of sweat breaking out on his forehead while his clothes were dampened with cold sweat behind him.
His body seemed to be struck by an invisible force, leaving him stiff and immovable at his spot, his eyes shimmering with disbelief while his mouth quivered slightly open with his teeth chattering.
Everything around him disappeared, and all he could see were the figures intertwined before him.
At this moment, his heart was filled with unspeakable shock and confusion; his entire world collapsed and reformed because of the scene before him.
Subtly, a strong sense of fear began to rise.
The truth was right before his eyes: his daughter, the Holy Maiden Anastasia of the Dark Church, had not fallen—his faith, the Dark Goddess, had.
He almost wished it was his daughter who had fallen!
Someone once said that if you propose to put a skylight in a room that’s too dark, everyone will refuse. But if you advocate for removing the roof, they will compromise and agree to a skylight.
That was what Ivan was thinking now, recalling his daughter’s helplessness and firm attitude, wishing he could smack himself hard.
You were told to walk away, but you insisted on clarifying everything.
Now look, the truth has emerged, and there’s such a big hole; let’s see how you fill it.
It turned out he was Anastasia’s father, the Pope of the Dark Church.
Wayne tilted his head to look at Ivan. Regarding appearances, there wasn’t much to describe; the focus was on his youth, but it was that cloak, blending into the surroundings and avoiding mental sensing, that resembled the raincoat he lost when moving.
Thanks to nature’s gift, it returned to its owner today.
What shocked Ivan was understandable to Wayne; the scenario was like a loyal dog discovering its pure and chaste goddess romping merrily outside.
Although the metaphor wasn’t quite apt—this goddess was not that Goddess—it was roughly the same idea.
Wayne didn’t speak; the fragrant Glamor Lady in his arms smelled delightful, and a slight bow of his head allowed him to see the open neckline, much more appealing than anything about the Pope.
On the outside, she was the Pope’s daughter; inside, she was the Pope’s goddess...
Err, there seemed to be something odd about that.
Oddly thrilling.
Wayne ran his hand through his black hair, ensuring it hadn’t turned blond, still the Pure Love War God opposed by the Minotaur.
The Dark Goddess Idinis didn’t speak either, tenderly locking eyes with Wayne, occasionally glancing at Ivan.
"Pope, aren’t you going to say something?"
Today’s encounter was purely an accident, not part of the head of school’s plan, yet she found it very amusing, couldn’t help but feel a little expectant.
"G-Goddess..."
After a long moment, Ivan recovered from his shock, placed a hand over his chest, and bowed slightly, the way he always welcomed the Holy Maiden.
After bending down, he realized something was amiss—this was not the Holy Maiden but the Goddess seeking men within the Holy Maiden’s body.
Ivan was about to kneel.
"Ahem!"
Wayne coughed lightly with a clenched fist and frowned, "His Holiness the Pope, are you seeing things? There’s no goddess here, just you, me, and Her Holiness—no one else."
Ivan’s expression faltered, his motion to kneel abruptly stiffened.
He was very certain the Goddess had descended and he must kneel, but such an act would confirm her identity which was a much bigger issue—at all costs, he could not kneel.
Kneeling meant acknowledging he, the Pope of the Dark Church, witnessed the Dark Goddess meeting a young lover clandestinely which, to prevent rumors and protect the Goddess’s holy reputation, would lead to the Pope being imprisoned for blasphemy.
Not kneeling meant ignoring the Dark Goddess’s presence, a severe act of blasphemy.
If he kneeled or didn’t, either way was a blasphemy, a dead end.
He froze in place, waiting for the Goddess to speak, to see what exactly she intended, which sin of blasphemy she planned to attribute to him.
"Quite interesting."
Idinis chuckled lightly, Anastasia’s aloof Glamor Lady facade rendered charmingly seductive as she said to Wayne, "He saw something he shouldn’t have. What do you think I should do with him?"
"It’s not that serious, a father catching his daughter dating a boyfriend, just a minor misunderstanding, no need to make a fuss." Wayne slightly curled his lip, deciding to pull Ivan out of trouble, considering his high regard for Anastasia’s character.
Having raised such an exceptional daughter, Ivan couldn’t be a trashcan like Austin.
This kind of person was worth helping.
"He’s not my father, and I am not Anastasia!"
Idinis’s smile was playful, "Seems like you care about him, is it because of Idinis? Such a fickle man, you agreed to like the soul inhabiting this body and yet, you still long for the body itself."
Goddess, are you listening to yourself?
Unlike Ivan who turned pale thinking he was doomed, Wayne furrowed his brows and spoke sternly, "He is the Pope of the Dark Church; you don’t need to do this."
"I like it, can’t I?"
You’re clearly tormenting him, such a wicked personality!
Wait, am I also just a part of your play?
"Of course you can, but there’s a saying that even a piece of underwear or a sheet of toilet paper serves its purpose, let alone a diligent Pope. He may not have merits but he has hardships, better keep him functional to serve the Church," reasoned Wayne factually.
"You really do like Anastasia, ever since before whatever I said went, and now because of her father, you start being harsh towards me." Idinis whimpered twice, falling onto Wayne’s shoulder and shrugging.
