Chapter 899: Chapter 335 Tilling in the Light, Serving the Darkness_3

Blue Spine Parasite.

A massive Star Beast lay dormant in the earth, breathing steadily as if in a deep slumber; upon closer inspection, it appeared to be missing a tentacle, which was slowly regenerating and healing.

In a corner of the Mysterious Space, several pale-skinned twisted figures draped in Black Robes discussed the day’s unforeseen developments.

"Do not quarrel, my chess piece within the Heavenly Father’s Court has responded."

The lead Black Robe, a Familiar of the Lord of Envy, one of Hell’s Seven Devils, named Smedley opened his eyes, revealing a swirling sickly yellow light, and began conversing with Hodgson.

"How is it, has your identity been compromised, and who exactly is targeting us?"

"It’s an Envoy from the Papal State. You’ve gone too far, and even though I have tried my best to suppress the news, the Papal State has still noticed something amiss," fumed Hodgson.

"That’s to be expected; I told you before that place is the God-chosen Continent. It’s impossible to keep things from the Papal State; you should have been prepared for this."

"Now is not the time to discuss that. The envoy from the Papal State might already suspect me. My explanations will likely have little effect."

Hodgson continued, "To prove my innocence and ensure that you can still find a contact, I’ve had the Angels purge several sects. They haven’t been captured, have they?"

"There have been some losses, and our previous preparations are now useless."

"What should we do then? Can our envious master still descend, and what about the Hell Gate?" Hodgson asked in urgency. If the faith failed to descend, he would be the first to disagree.

"Do not get agitated. Just because our first preparation is useless doesn’t mean it was the only one."

Smedley spoke ominously, with a hint of pride in his tone: "The plan is critical. Just to be safe, you should try to stall the people from the Papal State."

"That’s difficult; they’ve already contacted the Papal State, and I can’t prevent it."

"If you can’t manage even this small task, then... never mind. I will accelerate the process. The Hell Gate will certainly open, and our great master will descend to the Mortal World."

"In the new plan, where will the Hell Gate open?"

"Still in the Republic of Ireland."

"Can you be more specific? I must be present to worship our master the moment he descends."

"Heh, you are always in such a hurry."

"Damn it, this isn’t funny!"

"Hodgson, I still have to work on the exact location. I’ll inform you later. Find a way to stall the Papal State; that’s the only thing you can do."

Hodgson wanted to ask more, but Smedley abruptly ended the call, leaving him unable to even find the Mysterious Space.

The scene returns to Saint Patrick Cathedral. Wayne had learned everything from Hodgson’s thoughts and said helplessly, "The good news is that we have confirmed the location where the Hell Gate will open, right in the Republic of Ireland. The bad news is that the target is too vast to pinpoint accurately, and it’s uncertain whether the Devil truly trusts Hodgson."

Mona and Umr remained silent, having not found the exact location of the Mysterious Space, only a rough direction.

But the Mysterious Space drifted through the Void, changing position constantly, and searching along the direction would only startle the quarry.

"Continue investigating. Something as major as the opening of the Hell Gate must have some prelude..."

...

That evening, Wayne moved his luggage into Saint Patrick Cathedral and was now reading through a female student’s cheerful storyline outline in his room.

Chris had been busy all day, and the outline was only halfway done. Seeing Wayne holding it for a long while without uttering a word, she asked nervously, "What do you think? Is there something that needs to be changed?"

It would be easier to just throw it away.

Wayne internally assessed the outline; Chris lacked the talent for writing. Amusing herself with it as a hobby was fine, but there was no need to seriously consider publishing.

It wasn’t an issue of having one problem; it was that she was uniformly terrible in all aspects, making it impossible for Wayne to find a specific fault.

"Senior, I still think you are more suited to love stories."

"It’s no good, huh?" Chris looked disheartened.

Wayne took her hand and made the student sit on his lap. "It’s not that it’s no good; it’s just not your forte. As long as you pick the right track, you’re bound to succeed and become a great author."

"But I’m not good at writing love stories either; my own love life is a mess."

At that, Chris gave Wayne a rueful look — with her fragmented love life, finding inspiration from her own experiences was an impossibility.

"It doesn’t matter. Think about it, if the main character is me, the readers might actually enjoy it," Wayne said, giving a thumbs up with a slightly smug expression.

Chris spat in disgust. The reason the scoundrel had stayed stable and hadn’t capsized yet wasn’t due to his skills but because he had found someone willingly deceived by him.

Take herself, for instance; she had once promised that even if Wayne were the Devil, she would continue to like him.

Wayne didn’t disappoint her, with his utterly disgraceful maneuvers quite fitting of a devil.

Wayne hoped Chris would use him as the prototype for a biographical novel — the main character being a noble young master from high society with a touch of magic added. As long as it was thrilling, selling it would be no worry.

Chris wasn’t willing; if it were up to her to write, the noble young master would remain true to just one, and as she wrote, the character would veer off course.

"Alright, I’ll help you revise the outline. The protagonist suffers too much in the first half; it’s okay to press him down, but not too harshly. Otherwise, a thrilling story becomes a torture narrative, and readers lose the motivation to follow..."

"Look here, just indicating his fall from grace is enough. Also, this part in prison needs to elevate the reader’s anticipation, making them eager to see his revenge..."

Inside the room, Wayne guided Chris in revising the outline, though he was nearly writing it himself, with Chris contributing just a pen name.
