Chapter 831: Chapter 318: The Good Days Are Still Ahead!_2
"I can’t believe I even have a secretary here."
Wayne pushed the door open and entered, locking eyes with the secretary who looked up at him, suddenly detecting a hint of familiarity between their brows.
It felt like he had seen her somewhere before.
In terms of looks, the secretary did not have the face of a first love but was quite attractive—she was a beautiful woman. After some thought, Wayne guessed that she must have been arranged by the Queen.
Austin wouldn’t have, knowing the style of the Lando Family’s maids; apart from Megan, they were uniformly strong and sturdy.
Startled by Vice Minister Wayne in the middle of the night, the secretary paused before slowly standing up and saying, "Wayne, I didn’t know you would come. According to Austin, I’ve already dealt with the documents. Would you like to see them?"
Who are you, casually mentioning Austin, and calling Wayne without honorifics, not knowing their current status?
Wayne stared at the secretary for a moment and, after a long pause, said with an odd expression, "Lady Collins, is it you?"
Ivette nodded, subconsciously pulling down her skirt that barely covered her knees, immensely embarrassed.
Ivette Collins, a member of the Tulip Family, the Magic Department Vice Minister, one of the Queen’s two most trusted Legendary Mages. As the Vice Ministers of the Magic Department came and went, she always kept a seat, outlasting four colleagues, becoming a legend from three different reigns.
Ivette had always appeared as a woman in her fifties, not because she couldn’t stay young, but because she chose this image intentionally, hoping that the image of an elder would spare her unnecessary trouble and earn the younger generation’s respect.
Suddenly becoming young was not Ivette’s idea, but Queen Sophia’s request. The Queen had analyzed Wayne’s behavior and preferences and had enough reason to suspect he liked older women, so she tasked Ivette with a mission.
Thunder roared in the sky!
When Ivette received the mission, she was completely dumbfounded. Wayne was still a child, even Austin could be considered her junior. Was it really appropriate for her to carry out this mission?
Just as Ivette had once arranged for Wayne to be the Brand Ambassador of the Magic Department, an effort to silence Philomena’s mouth. Windsor is a great nation, a nation that should have a dignified image; using beauty schemes was too lowly. Ivette didn’t spell it out, hoping Wayne would understand on his own.
At this moment, it was just like that time, the specific task untold by Queen Sophia, hoping Ivette would come to her own conclusion.
She couldn’t treat it superficially or interpret it too liberally; all one could say was, the top brass had good intentions and you’d understand if you think about it more.
Although Ivette was dissatisfied, she still accepted the task out of loyalty.
Wayne covered his face with his hand, quickly guessing why Ivette had become younger and had appeared in his office. After restraining himself for a while, he said, "The clothes are nice, but don’t wear them next time. Also, I had a higher regard for the previous Lady Collins. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t disrupt my respect for my elders."
"I understand, and I am terribly sorry for causing you trouble."
Ivette almost dug an office building out with her toe, feeling embarrassed beyond belief. She had said she couldn’t do it, but the Queen insisted on arranging it, saying that Wayne liked the chewy ones. Now look, she had lost all face.
"Wayne, who is... this?"
Dreyne’s eyes lit up, sniffing the awkwardness in the air, knowing the fun had arrived.
"It’s nothing, just a strange misunderstanding."
"Of course, I know it’s a misunderstanding, hurry up and clear it up!"
"It’s none of your concern."
Wayne couldn’t bother with Dreyne. Ivette was one of the few truly loyal Legendary Mages, even if her loyalty wasn’t to the Lando Family, he still wanted to help her maintain some dignity.
Dreyne laughed coldly, his silver eyes staring intently at Ivette: "Little Mage, nice socks, where did you buy them?"
"Your, Your Lordship is?"
Ivette instinctively took a step back. In the moment Dreyne’s gaze fixed on her, she felt a chill wrap around her neck, where a single misplaced word could spell her doom.
Thinking the white fur was Wayne’s new luxury car, brought to the office to break in for the night, she didn’t pay it much mind. But now it was clear that the white fur was no ordinary Mage, but a being far stronger than even a Legendary Mage.
Stronger than a Legendary Mage, a Demigod?
Are there still Demigods in the Mortal World? Shouldn’t they be in The Void Divine Kingdom?
Ivette was filled with a spine-chilling question mark, swallowing hard. The Lando Family’s power was terrifying; she wanted to advise the Queen to save her worries and agree to be Austin’s mistress.
After all, they had a past relationship, and if there was a loss, it had already been taken.
"Quit it, those are called stockings, my design, and they’re discontinued. I still have some in stock at home, not much, I’ll send you a pair someday," Wayne said, waving his hand to interrupt the pressure Dreyne was applying, releasing Ivette from the heavy atmosphere.
"Just one pair?"
"They’re discontinued, limited stock," Wayne replied perfunctorily.
"So precious, then I’ll have to choose in person. Clothes need to fit comfortably when worn, in case you get the size wrong," Dreyne was unyielding, determined to set fire to Wayne’s stockpile.
"No need, I know your size."
"How could you know?"
Dreyne’s eyes widened: "When did you find out, how could I not know?"
Wayne sighed, giving Dreyne a once-over from head to toe: "That’s how I know. As a clothing designer, I am professional."
Dreyne was speechlessly flabbergasted, resetting the low bar of high society.
After dealing with Dreyne, Wayne finally had the chance to explain to Ivette: "Lady Collins, sorry to have alarmed you. This is my friend; she heard our Lando Family succeeded in our rebellion and came all the way to Lundan to congratulate us. She’s always like this, it’s not intentional against you."
