Chapter 798: Chapter 310: Instant Kill
Prince Douglas transformed into a Devil and abducted Queen Sophia, an event that took even the most astute observers by surprise with its rapid developments.
Among the many Legendary Mages of the Magic Department, only Yvette and Herman remained steadfastly loyal to the Queen and promptly activated teleportation magic to give chase.
Anick and Shati, the two deputy ministers, truly lived up to the esteemed reputation of old Paris’s white flag. They stood there, dumbfounded and helpless, watching as the Queen was kidnapped, not even managing to follow Yvette and Herman as they rushed to her rescue.
It looked like they had thrown in the towel.
The banquet hall fell dead silent, as members of the Tulip Family were unsure whether the Queen had successfully escaped or had been captured by the Devil. They quietly observed the Randao Family, waiting for Austin to say something.
He had the strongest hand to play and thus the greatest authority to speak.
"Why didn’t you stop Douglas? With your abilities, it would have been entirely possible," Austin said with a stern face, looking at the Death Knight.
"Why would I get in the way of marital bliss?" Wayne shrugged.
"You bastard, whatever you plan to do, the Queen must remain alive; she cannot die," Austin said through clenched teeth.
Makes sense!
Although it makes sense, that doesn’t mean you can raise your voice. With all these people watching, do I, the Death Knight, have no dignity?
Wayne wanted to say more but realized with so many people watching, the Death Knight really could afford to lose face tonight.
He bowed slightly, saying humbly, "I apologize, Your Majesty, I wasn’t thoughtful enough. Please give me another chance; I assure you I will bring back the Queen."
No sooner had his words fallen than a portal opened behind him, and the Undead Warhorse Yuliya leapt out.
The Death Knight mounted his steed and, following the trail of spatial fluctuations, pursued the Devil and the two Legendary Mages.
Austin let out a soft exclamation of surprise, puzzled at how the lowly trash bin was suddenly so agreeable.
Straight facts, with the crown soon to be on his head, it was a trash bin’s dream come true if the Queen was brutally slain by the Devil at this juncture—it would be an assist, really.
As he pondered, he noticed the surrounding crowd casting incredibly weird glances at him.
Let’s not talk about the Tulip Family lackeys, some looked up to him, some were envious, but most were afraid.
Austin was no puppet strung up by the four churches. He could command the Death Knight. Seen with their own eyes, heard with their own ears, he had called the Death Knight a bastard, and the Death Knight had acquiesced without so much as a squeak.
Now that’s a sovereign!
Hefei tilted her head, arms folded across her chest, her frowning expression indicating she was mulling over something.
She knew too many secrets, the considerations were more complex. Philomena, only half aware of the situation, was just staring at Austin, speechless.
Even the God-chosen Knight would kowtow to this man—what abilities did he possess?
He’s worthy of being my man’s father, indeed suitable for his own son.
Austin’s eyes twitched, almost dying of anger from Wayne. After taking a couple of deep breaths, he said to Anastasia beside him, "I don’t trust the Death Knight; I ask you, Her Holiness, to go and rescue the Queen and ensure her safety at all costs."
"If that is your wish, I shall fulfill the mission," Anastasia bowed slightly.
Why are you like this, too?
"Her Holiness, when you speak to me, please leave aside any personal relationships. It’s only you and I, that’s my request," Austin said, feeling numb.
"I understand, and please realize that even setting aside other factors, your orders are imperative for me to follow, right?"
"..."
Indeed.
Although not of the same system, the God-chosen Knight holds a higher status than the Holy Maiden and indeed has the authority to give orders.
Refuse, and face the Twilight Deadlock—cut down to pieces. When the Dark Goddess inquires, just say the Holy Maiden committed apostasy.
Think the Dark Goddess would seek justice for the Holy Maiden or accept the charge of her apostasy?
Well, no need to think about it—when people are dead, obviously they’d just pick a new Holy Maiden!
With sound logic, Austin found no grounds to argue. He knew Anastasia was pretending to be oblivious to his clear stance, but he dared not state it explicitly. With a heavy heart, he accepted the admiring glances of the onlookers.
In their eyes, he read a question: your reputation has risen to reverence; when do you plan to ascend the throne?
Austin felt there was still a chance to save the situation. With a grim face, he addressed the crowd, "You’ve seen it with your own eyes, I, Austin—no, the Lando Family—is loyally devoted to the Royal Family. Tonight’s events are solely aimed at Prince Douglas."
"Douglas is a Devil who seduced the Queen into numerous mistakes. The Queen, in her innocent blindness, couldn’t see the Devil’s true nature, which is why I allied with the Death Knight and the Dark Church’s Holy Maiden to unveil Douglas’s true face, allowing the Queen to come to her senses in time."
"Everything said just now was false, intended to confuse and pressure Douglas to reveal himself. The Lando Family was loyal to the Royal Family in the past and will remain so in the future. The Queen is always the Queen; no one will rebel and become the new King!"
Ah, right, right, right. Fight against the Devil without enlisting the professional and appropriate Heavenly Father’s Court, but instead recruit the dark and death forces—that makes perfect sense, exactly Windsor’s style. xN
We accept the order, no new King—just a new Prince. xN
So, your goal wasn’t to replace the throne but to move from secretly laying with the Queen to doing so openly. Prince Austin, you still can’t forget the Queen, huh! xN
"Well argued!" Fierst nodded hastily.
"Well argued!" xN
Someone led the charge, and the rest swiftly followed suit.
With a new Monarch barely on the throne, it was a prime opportunity to pledge loyalty and declare their stance, promptly agreeing with nods.
