Chapter 760: Chapter 300: Either on the Dining Table or On the Menu
September 18th.
Lando Manor, Study.
The big trash bin summoned the little trash bin to discuss important matters, holding an Ancient Silver Coin, his expression slightly displeased.
By contrast, the little trash bin looked in excellent spirits.
If there’s work, the secretary does it; if there’s no work, the secretary has a ball, living well and having fun, feeling like life has reached its peak.
Seeing Wayne’s demeanor, Austin became even more displeased and frowned, "The family has had a lot of issues lately, and as the heir, you couldn’t care less."
"Compared to the trivial matters at home, I am more focused on international issues."
Wayne gestured broadly, indicating he was very busy, international matters everywhere needed his sharp critique, without him the earth couldn’t turn; compared to that, the home’s trifles were for Austin to handle.
With Austin’s shallow wisdom, these small matters were really not a challenge for him.
On the contrary, when two buttocks get together and exchange opinions fiercely, a small matter can easily turn into a big one.
Austin did not refute Wayne’s skewed logic; he had argued before, only to be dragged by Wayne into a familiar track where his methods did not suit the environmental demands, making him seem unreasonable.
"A lot has happened recently; Prussia blitzed Polonia and has already taken their capital. The Ross Federation also attacked Polonia yesterday; that country is finished," Austin regretfully said.
Too fast!
Like a bolt of lightning, it was over in a flash!
Wayne first nodded, showing his consistent favor towards Prussia, then scoffed, "Windsor and Frank declared war on Prussia at the beginning of the month, yet they declared without fighting, didn’t send even a dog out, and offered ’every kind of assistance but assistance’ to Polonia, becoming an international joke."
Indeed fast, even Hell’s jokes don’t update this frequently.
"No, we did offer help; it’s Polonia’s own fault for not listening, nobody else to blame."
Austin took over the conversation, defending Windsor briefly; Polonia brought it on themselves by being served in turn by two powerful nations, refusing to negotiate and instead stubbornly charging forward.
The Ross Federation’s invasion of Polonia certainly seemed like kicking them while they were down, but it also had to do with the long-standing hostility and resentment between the countries; with conflicts aplenty, of course they would take the opportunity to settle scores when it arose.
"But no matter what, Polonia is no longer on the map."
Wayne shrugged; with every war, it’s the small nations that suffer first, and it’s the same without wars; the world map is large but also small, not enough room for too many players.
You’re either at the dinner table, or on the menu!
Austin shook his head slightly, "This might be a good thing; Windsor and Frank can wait a while to see what Prussia and the Ross Federation will do after they share a border."
Best if they end up fighting!
Austin represented Windsor’s strategic interests, hoping from Windsor’s perspective to see a strong but not-too-strong Prussia.
Forward, they could bog down Frank; backward, they could fend off the Ross Federation.
Windsor need do nothing, just sell arms and humanitarianism from across the sea, proclaiming the virtues of justice and world peace, and that’s it.
Hearing his tone, Wayne knew that the Windsor upper echelon was still full of confidence in Frank, believing that the world’s number one army could stop Prussia’s blitz.
Understandable, in this era, phrases like ’impregnable fortress,’ ’world’s number one army’ still carry a lot of weight.
Frank: The God-chosen Continent’s one main street, ask around who’s the boss.
Prussia: I asked; it’s me!
Wayne brought up the unreliable defenses again, hoping Austin could convince the Queen to change Windsor’s current foreign strategy, not just to enjoy the show, but to take some real action.
If they wait until the skies are full of planes and fireworks are everywhere, it’ll be too late to cry out in pain.
However, Wayne also knew that everything he said was hot air; the geographical location doomed Windsor to not be at the forefront, and the Queen too hoped for the war to erupt between the borders of Frank and Prussia.
Best if they engaged in a protracted tug-of-war until both were weakened, then the Ross Federation stepped in to pick up the scraps, leading to a free-for-all and all-out exhaustion.
By then, the well-oiled Windsor could step in to take charge, calling for a stop to the fighting while inviting everyone to sit down for peace talks and to sign a new stable world order treaty.
Simply perfect!
On the issue of international situations, Wayne and Austin never see eye to eye, unable to sway each other.
From Austin’s point of view, Wayne is half-informed about the continental situation, with a mysterious confidence in Prussia, seemingly a Prussian at heart, a sly trickster.
From Wayne’s point of view...
Well, actually, he wasn’t too certain; with a full upgrade across the board, maybe Frank won’t even raise a hand this time.
Wayne swayed from side to side, fixed on Prussia’s stereotype; Austin didn’t bother with further talk and cut to the chase, "The Queen has been making significant moves lately; she’s consolidating power, actively preparing for war by reclaiming the Tulip Family’s authorities."
Austin’s statement was quite objective, but from the subjective standpoint of other Tulip Family members, the Queen taking back power under the pretext of war was severely trampling the core interests of each family.
True, the Tulip Family existed for this reason; they are the Royal Family’s piggy bank + talent reserve + extended reach, with the Royal Family having every right to reclaim everything, but still...
Swallowing is easy, spitting out is hard; suddenly asking them to let blood was more painful than killing them.
A similar situation occurred twenty years ago, but back then, the Royal Family’s actions were nowhere near as forceful as now.
"Forceful?"
Wayne’s brow lifted, "What exactly has the Queen done that even our loyal Tulip Family is giving a ’forceful’ bad review?"
