Chapter 743: Chapter 294: One is willing to hit, the other is willing to suffer_4
Wayne introduced, "Saina, this is Mona, you’ve met Odilia."
Wayne had Saina come over to assist with the experiment, incidentally proving to her that he really was conducting research. If successful, Saina could find her way back to herself.
Well, perhaps not entirely to herself, but surely in a better state than she was in now.
Saina did not take these words to heart, acutely aware of her own condition: she was a goner, beyond salvation, and even if miraculously saved, her life would still be ruined.
Since she was a lost cause either way, why bother wasting time?
Besides, she didn’t harbor any expectations.
As Wayne flipped through Saina’s thoughts, he felt utterly helpless and simply set them aside.
But while Saina could be set aside, the experiment had to succeed. Hefei and Veronica’s Dragon Blood Curse was a significant threat, especially Hefei, who, seeing Austin grow stronger, felt uncomfortable and started planning to break through to the Legendary Mage realm.
Time was running out for Wayne.
Aside from them, Anastasia of the Dark Church, Vilry’s father Kushin, who had milder symptoms and still a chance for recovery, could retain more of themselves if the experiment succeeded.
Particularly for Vilry’s father, a muscular behemoth, Wayne would do anything to help him pull through, firmly refusing to let him inherit Windsor’s twisted and vile influence.
With her broad knowledge and profound mastery of Magic, Saina was an exceptional assistant. Her support spared Wayne much contemplation, and the experiment progressed smoothly.
Mona and Odilia stepped back again and again, feeling the pressure from Veronica.
There was no winning!
Absolutely no chance of winning!
The last person Mona felt outmatched by was Philomena, the flawless High Priest of the Moonlight Church. She had thought such level of beauty was scarce.
Indeed, scarce, but all encountered by Wayne.
It would’ve been fine just to meet them, but it was the matter of how they were addressed that she couldn’t tolerate.
Late into the night.
Wayne set aside his current work and looked at several of the worthless Forgotten specimens, planning to have Austin send them back to the Asylum another day.
The experiment had gone through several phases. With complete data, it was time to move on to the next step.
For this step, Wayne chose Saina. Ignoring her resistance, he ordered her to cooperate and plunged his mind into her body, attempting to strip away all her evolution.
Saina fiercely resisted, her struggle so intense it seemed she would rather die than relent.
Wayne, left with no choice, ultimately spared her.
"Saina, you need to understand, it’s not that I’ve spared you; it’s that I have not spared you," Wayne said gravely.
"This is your last chance. Freedom or kinship, what’s your choice?"
"Can I really be free?"
Saina shook her head slightly, her mind clear as she said, "Evolution is irreversible. I can only achieve partial freedom. Any loyalty that isn’t absolute is absolutely disloyalty. I’m willing to devote everything to my faith."
"Alright then."
Wayne nodded, releasing Saina from her constraints and allowing her to leave the experiment table.
The lifted constraints were numerous, granting Saina immense permissions. She was treated the same as Anastasia, left to roam free, unattended and unmonitored.
With the removal of these constraints, Saina saw an opportunity to push the boundaries further.
"Stand aside and make no noise," Wayne warned verbally, foregoing mental constraints, and then called Celeste in.
Similarly wholly corrupted, Celeste was very obedient, revering her faith and showing no hint of offense, unlike Saina, who constantly harbored thoughts of intimate closeness with her faith.
"Look at her, then at yourself. You both are Legendary Mages, yet your faith is laced with too much of your own fantasy," Wayne pointed out using the living example, criticizing Saina for her self-inflicted downfall.
It was her filthy thoughts that had misunderstood the preferences of her faith, hence her current predicament.
Saina curled her lip, quite rudely saying, "Master, is it possible that my thoughts have been influenced by yours, that your ideas came first, followed by my changes?"
"Ah this..."
Seeing Wayne at a loss for words, Saina continued, "Subconsciously, you’re not interested in male dependents, so he doesn’t express a strong desire for the faith, or rather, his way of desiring is different. Anastasia and I, however..."
"Enough, don’t say more! You’re just full of excuses!"
Wayne cut her off. Her sophistic arguments sounded sensible at first, almost deceiving him.
"Also, don’t call me master anymore; it sounds too strange."
"..."
Upon receiving the mental command, Saina let out a soft exclamation and looked at Mona in surprise.
This secretary held a high place in Wayne’s heart, and to cater to her feelings, he had chosen to let her be uncomfortable.
After pondering for a moment, Saina knew she couldn’t be beaten on looks, so it must be a matter of affection.
Interesting!
With a smile playing at her lips, having many of her constraints lifted and possessing great personal authority, Saina could now do things she wouldn’t have dared to consider before.
If that was the case, why should she settle for merely being a dependent, when she could take things a step further?
Her faith valued emotions highly, with sincerity reciprocated by sincerity. If she too gained sincerity, then in a similar situation in the future, the one being discomforted would definitely not be her.
The great beauty had found her goal and began to mock her old rival.
Anastasia, ultimately, you’ve lost. Wait and see, one day you’ll answer to me!
