Chapter 716: Chapter 288 Golden Triangle: Fate, Emptiness, Self
Life!
More than ten days had passed since Wayne gathered the five God-chosen. In those days, he pondered a question—life.
The meaning of life is manifold, often intersecting with concepts such as religion, philosophy, consciousness and soul, morality, good and evil. Clashing together, the answers are varied.
Wayne wasn’t a philosopher; as a mage, he contemplated life based on what he learned through personal insights and the theories of the Magic Realm.
Magic is about balance, about evolution; the human body is akin to the universe, and the evolution of a mage reflects the development and changes of the universe—self-growth, reproduction, will, evolution...
These both fit within the meaning of life and fall into the category of the universe.
The so-called life is, in essence, the universe.
However, while life can be the universe, the universe isn’t solely defined by life. Wayne was quite aware that his conception of life was far from matching the standard of the universe—much more akin to an abridged version of it, which is nature.
Even the concept of nature, Wayne hadn’t come into contact with in its entirety.
Nature isn’t just the basics of earth, fire, water, wind, as well as nature, the sun, moonlight, darkness, death, but also includes wind, rain, thunder, lightning, and so on.
Bearing this grand concept of nature in mind, the belief system of the Life Alliance truly deserved thoughtful consideration.
The former Life Alliance wasn’t limited to just the five goddesses; only by bringing together all the deities of faith could one form a complete life, a complete nature.
Due to the outbreak of the War of Faith, the Life Alliance declined, leaving only the five goddesses. And for some reasons, Darkness and Death left the alliance, only leaving Nature, the Sun, and Moonlight.
These three could also constitute a nature, a life but far from the past glory and power.
"Based on the choice of the deities, the path I’m taking is not wrong. Life is just like this..."
"But I always feel there’s something missing?"
"Life shouldn’t be disparate and independent; it should be whole..."
"Eh, the Nature Goddess has such a big appetite, can she truly represent life on her own? Don’t the Sun and Moonlight, her allies, have any objections? Did Darkness and Death leave the alliance voluntarily because they couldn’t stand her pride?"
"No, this isn’t the time to think about these things. I’ve obtained the initial concept of life; I have the framework, now I need to consider how to integrate these scattered concepts."
"Book of Greed, don’t just eat and do nothing, move it!"
"You idiot, what are you mumbling about over there? What do you mean ’move it’?"
From her position of authority, Veronica landed a punch on Wayne’s face. Since earlier until now, it was clear that she had been the one moving and complaining. If she had the capability, she should move herself.
The scene fades out as the two engage in some exercise that benefits the body and mind in the bedroom.

"Veronica, I am pondering a very serious matter."
"You always say that every time I ask you; how long have you been pondering... No more thinking now!"
Veronica followed up with another punch, feeling aggrieved internally, suspecting Wayne had grown tired of her. Claiming he was thinking about problems, in reality, it was always the beautiful Saina on his mind.
It could also possibly be the Moonlight Knight, Dreyne. Wayne’s relationship with him had progressed rapidly; from Dreyne’s initial indifference to their now free-flowing conversations. Dreyne provided whatever Wayne needed, one might think he was grooming a successor!
Definitely something fishy!
"Are you Divine Oracle High Priests, God-chosen Knights who’ve experienced too many good men, becoming picky and wanting to try out the trash? Go find the Dark Knight then, that’s a trash bin too!"
"Why won’t you talk, you jerk!"
"My mistake, I’ll get moving."
...
"What was that? I thought you’d be impressive, but that’s it?"
Wayne was pulling up his pants, ready to leave when Veronica, secretly annoyed, heard the comment and immediately blushed with anger, "It’s not even dawn yet, where are you going?"
Is it Saina or Dreyne?
"To correct you, in the Icebound Continent, it lights up once a year, and when it does, it stays lit for half a year."
Wayne, looking refreshed and in contrast to the unmotivated Veronica, was putting on his shirt and said, "Don’t worry, I’m not going to Saina or Dreyne; I’m going to see my teacher."
"..."
Awful wording, do you want to hear what you’re saying.
"The timing is right; I’m prepared to break through to the Golden Mage Realm. There’s no time to delay. That’s why I’m going to see my teacher."
Last September, Wayne achieved the Silver Cross of life, command, space, self, officially becoming a Silver Mage, and nearly a year later, after eleven months, he finally finished the progress bar for the five creeds of faith.
Without the Ancient Silver Coins, the Obelisk, relying solely on meditation to plunder elements from his fellows, he was scared to think how long it would take.
With five creeds stuffed in at once, the already dramatic demand for the Essence of Life soared. If it weren’t for the head of the multi-transport team bringing the parcels right to his door, it would have taken at least ten years.
Ten years!
Enough for an average person with no foundation to debut in basketball five times in a row.
Praise the Void Lord, the Thousand-Eyed Demon, Oub, the two nameless from the Death Church, and all those kind-hearted people whose names I’ve completely forgotten!
Thinking back on the bloody tears shed along the way, Wayne felt gratitude, silently prayed for them, sent them blessings, and hoped for the next life...
Oh, there’s no next life, so praying is pointless.
Then I won’t pray, it’s a waste of time.
Now that the elemental fellows are all rounded up and the progress bar is nearly full, Wayne feels he’s about to overflow if he doesn’t make a move towards the Golden Mage Realm.
Thinking of the many homeless elementals, Wayne can’t bear it and decides to hurry and expand his abode, offering refuge to the elementals, giving them a shelter from the storm.
