Chapter 701: Chapter 283, Didn’t Expect This, Did You?_3
Due to the breach in the seal, these Little Fairies crossed the Spatial Fissure to reach the Icebound Continent, timid, kind-hearted, and fond of peace, they gained acknowledgment from three Knights and took on the responsibility of watching over the surrounding forest; their relationship with the Dark Elves was reasonably harmonious as well.
To allow enemy scouts to move within their own camp was clearly an act of collusion; the Knights initially refused, but bullying the weak wasn’t their style. At the suggestion of the Moonlight Knight, they kept them under the guise of treating captives with care.
Labeling them as captives was in line with the procedure, and so there were no issues.
Wayne listened, his forehead lined with black threads; the God-chosen Knights’ formidable power made them disdain deceit, unafraid of schemes, thus they developed a style of being upright and open.
From another perspective, this could also be seen as being without guile, directly resorting to fists when facing problems and steamrolling through.
On reflection, the Naturalist Knight was like this, the Sun Knight too, and even the unfortunate Headless Knight was an outright straightforward man.
If even one Knight was like this, what about three together? Could the breach in the seal have been due to their negligence?
"Wayne, the Dark Knight’s abilities are still lacking; I am taking him to the Moonlight Knight for advice. This is a rare opportunity, and observing closely could save you from many detours," said Mula, expressing his regret that he could not teach Wayne for the time being.
The reason was simple: the seal was considered stable only with the suppression of three Knights, requiring at least two at a time. With the Moonlight Knight training the Dark Knight, the Naturalist Knight had to remain at his post steadfastly.
This was also the main reason why the three God-chosen Knights took turns resting and couldn’t leave the Icebound Continent for extended periods.
Mula believed that Austin was more important; as long as the Dark Knight controlled his power quickly, there would be four Knights to sit over the seal. At that time, strategic adjustments, changing from defense to offense, whether advancing or retreating, the initiative would be in their hands.
"What about the Death Knight?"
"We cannot contact him; the Goddess of Death has given up on the seal of the Icebound Continent. Since the revolution of the Death Church, there’s been no more talk of Death Spirits," Mula said regretfully. He had once crossed swords with the Death Knight and was willing to call him the strongest of the God-chosen.
Unfortunately, the Death Knight was ordered to create the Underground Great Tomb and from then on rarely left its confines. After the revolution of the Death Church, the Death Devotion abandoned the former Elven God Techniques, and even the church positions turned into those of the Heavenly Father’s Church Bishop, the whole Archbishop setup.
Mula didn’t want to talk too much about these matters and led the four through a shady forest path.
They were in a vast Icebound Canyon, where the Dark Abyss seemed like a crack in the earth, quietly lurking deep within the canyon. There were no green plants or trees around, only snow and ice, and a full moon forged by Divine Arts hung high in the sky.
The cold moonlight flowed overhead, suppressing the black fog rising in the canyon, and occasionally, one could faintly hear the sticky sounds of the gigantic creatures moving below.
From the information Wayne had on hand, this was just the tip of the iceberg of the seal, and Torgoguryr’s head had been separated. There were no less than five similar sized Sealed Lands on the Icebound Continent alone, each corresponding to five faiths, five God-chosen Knights.
Under the icy moonlight, a figure clad in silver-white Armor stood with their back to everyone; the Armor, formed from moonlight, seemed to be endowed with life, flickering with a soft and mysterious glow that deeply attracted anyone who laid eyes upon it.
The lines of the Armor were sleek, its edges decorated with exquisite patterns, fitting the Knight’s figure snugly, neither bulky nor cumbersome. Compared with the armor of Death and Darkness, it could be considered light armor.
"Dark Knight..."
The Moonlight Knight Dreyne turned around, with an Elf-like beauty, silver-white hair, and a pair of distant, cold eyes, lips of subtle elegance, appearing as indifferent as a block of ice or a slab of white jade, without a single flaw.
"Mula, why did you bring him here?" Dreyne frowned slightly, showing some dissatisfaction.
As anyone would understand, light and dark do not mix, and she disliked the Dark Knight.
"It’s like this..."
Stepping forward, Mula explained the situation and also introduced Wayne: "This is my successor; I want him to watch and learn by the side. I hope you don’t mind."
Dreyne nodded at Wayne, her lips curling into a faint smile as she turned to Austin: "A man hiding behind a mask fits my definition of darkness well. Since you crave power, I will cherish you properly and let you experience what true pain feels like!"
The icy beauty’s laughter carried disdain, shattering the elegance of her earlier appearance. It was clear that there was a personal grudge involved.
"Dreyne, be rational; the Dark Knight is important to us..."
"I know what to do; you don’t need to teach me," Dreyne laughed coldly. "Mula, go and stay at your post. Honestly, I’m already a bit impatient."
Austin inwardly sighed with a headache and, mustering his courage, approached, extending his hand in an attempt to be polite.
He was rejected.
"No need to be so polite. We were not friends before, and we won’t be friends in the future. I don’t plan to teach you anything. It’s just one-sided violence, understand?"
Dreyne urged Mula to hurry up. Seeing Austin’s silent arrogance, he raised an eyebrow and said, "Keep your pride. Don’t disgrace the Dark Knight. Being appointed the Dark Knight is no small feat. Thanks to her, those were not happy times for me."
Dreyne touched his face, as if remembering something unpleasant.
Wayne also thought of something, black and white, two long-haired older sisters wrestling with each other, one tearing clothes, the other pulling hair, words of mockery flying around gracefully.
What a pity, if only I had traveled back a few years earlier!
Wayne internally berated himself. Seeing Mula getting ready to leave, he approached and said, "Mr. Mula, when the Dark Knight has some free time, could I have a few bouts with him?"
Wayne had been looking forward to this for a long time. Austin had an excellent feel for curved rubber balls, and Wayne hoped for a fair and square chance to play.
Naturalist Knight VS Dark Knight!
He would be responsible for kicking, Austin for mixing it up. Perfect.
Let’s be straightforward. Personal grudges, acts of revenge, personal disputes, they all exist.
Fortunes can change in a blink of an eye. Don’t belittle the young and disadvantaged!
Heh heh heh, last year’s big shot. Bet you never imagined you’d face this day.
"I’m afraid that’s not possible."
Mula shook his head lightly, "Wayne, I can’t teach you the Elemental Mantra, at least not right now. I still need to guard The Sealed Land. Be patient. You and the Dark Knight live in the same era; you’ll have plenty of opportunities to cross swords in the future."
"Mula!"
"I’m leaving now."
Dreyne was getting impatient. Mula replied and patted Wayne on the shoulder, "Observe and learn as much as you can. See how the Dark Knight fights. All this is intelligence. I also believe in your talent. You will definitely be the strongest."
Seeing that Dreyne couldn’t wait any longer, Mula quickened his pace to leave. In the shade of the trees, he encountered a figure in a black robe and nodded slightly.
"The Dark Knight has arrived. You have worked hard over these years."
"You overstate things. I was simply fulfilling my duties. It wasn’t hard."
"Still, you have worked hard."
Mula looked back at The Sealed Land, "The Dark Knight is there. He’s not strong enough yet. In time, he’ll be able to take over your task, and then you can be relieved."
The figure in the black robe nodded slowly and, after Mula left, made his way to The Sealed Land.
Noticing the arrival, Wayne uttered a soft "huh" and turned his head with curiosity to get a better look. Judging by the silhouette beneath the black robe, the newcomer was a female.
However, her body lacked the real sensation of life, mechanical and stiff, belonging to a magic puppet that housed a living mind.
A talking, walking figurine!!
With keen eyesight, Wayne saw a porcelain white mask under the hood and thought of the woman in the Divination House, wondering about their relationship.
Before Austin even began to get beat up, Wayne hurried to gather intelligence and extended a polite hand, "Wayne, the successor of the Naturalist Knight, gracious lady, may I have the pleasure of learning your name?"
"Dark Church Holy Maiden, Anastasia Ivan Makarov."
"So you’re the former Holy Maiden of the Dark Church, Anastasi..."
Wait a minute, what was your name again?
