Chapter 564: Chapter 241 Nightmare Corridor, Father Bids Farewell as Son Smiles_3

So quickly, she found herself deep within a dream, despite having been warned that everything was an illusion, not to be trusted easily.

Was she provoked?

Seeing Veronica weep so bitterly, Wayne dared not delay. He bowed his head to touch Veronica’s forehead, penetrating her thoughts and forcibly entering her nightmare.

"Roar, roar, roar————" x3

Wayne was startled from the very beginning; Lando Manor lay in ruins, walls crumbled and destroyed, with no structure left standing.

Above in the sky, three white Giant Dragons were entwined in battle, indistinguishable from one another.

Wayne racked his brain, guessing that the three Giant Dragons were Megan, Slyphy, and Veronica.

"The teacher and Veronica can turn into Giant Dragons too..."

"Is this Veronica’s fantasy, or is the key point of Dragon Blood evolution to achieve the full form of a Giant Dragon?"

"Stop fighting, both of you!"

Wayne blabbered loudly and had only taken a few steps when he discovered a pool of crimson blood and a severed arm, prompting him to frown deeply.

"Such a handsome right arm, so similar to mine, is that why Veronica lost control... but what triggered the teacher and Megan?"

Wayne shrugged his nose and found the lifeless body of Austin amidst the ruins in the corner.

"Don’t be scared, it’s just a bullet to the head, a minor injury, he won’t die from this."

Wayne pressed down on Austin’s shoulder, shaking it: "Stop playing dead, a scourge like you couldn’t possibly be taken out by a single bullet, that would be too easy for you."

"Austin, say something!"

"Old Login————"

Confirming Austin was truly gone, the ever dutiful son Wayne grinned broadly, his face alight with the joy of a father’s death.

He praised with a smile: "Who did it, that shot was well placed, come clean, I’ll avenge you."

"What do you mean by staying silent, don’t you want my help with your revenge?"

"I get it, let bygones be bygones, let’s put the past behind us."

"Surprising, to let go so easily, you were magnanimous and a true man, rest in peace, I will take care of the family from now on."

Wayne admired him immensely, in that moment Austin’s figure seemed more imposing than ever; it was a shadow he could never hope to chase.

Because he couldn’t catch up, he simply stopped chasing.

At the Naturalism Church Headquarters, in the council chamber.

Above was the azure dome of the clear sky, and below the amber lake stirred by the wind. White pillars stood equally spaced, supporting the world from heaven to earth.

In the center between the pillars, a ten-meter-long white table lay horizontally with several high-backed white chairs around it.

The upper echelons of Naturalism Church were all present; if not in person, then in mind. The Pope sat at the head of the table, opposite were the Great Prophet and the Divine Oracle High Priests on each side.

There was no place for the Holy Maiden.

The Great Prophet, wearing a white robe with a blurred face, was accompanied by a Mandrill scratching its ears and cheeks.

In front of him, a Crystal Ball showed the candidates entering the Nightmare Corridor; they struggled and sank into nightmares, displaying their abilities and revealing their inner ugliness, except for the few with genuinely kind hearts—one could see all others possessed flaws to varying degrees.

The Great Prophet was not there to select the Holy Maiden; he was there to make a point, and by the first selection, all the upper levels found it hard to save face.

With a push of his hands, the view shifted to Wayne’s side.

To be precise, it was because Veronica’s dream was such a grand spectacle—with three Giant Dragons grabbing the attention of the high-ranking officials—that everyone was entranced.

"A White Dragon?"

"Three of them, it must be Dragon Blood nightmares."

"Where did all this Dragon Blood come from?"

"Looking at the data, it’s from Veronica Lando of Windsor District, her mother is Slyphy Valentine, the last candidate for Holy Maiden..."

"So she’s a student of High Priestess Saina, no wonder. I was wondering where all this Dragon Blood came from, turns out it’s spread from here!"

"Heh, how nice!"

Everyone was judging freely, and this made Saina extremely furious. She wasn’t present in person, her thoughts attended in place of her, her face shrouded in a roll of white mist, making her true expression unclear.

Moments later, Wayne entered Veronica’s dream.

"How is this kid so fast?"

"His dreams are so casual, a punch and... let me see, the one he knocked down was his biological father. How funny, it seems their father-son relationship isn’t harmonious."

"In his sister’s dream, he shot his own father with a gun, quick and ruthless. It’s clear to see that everyone knows their father-son relationship is terrible, even his sister thinks so."

"No, what I mean is, his dreams are so perfunctory. Did the Great Prophet leak the answers?"

The crowd began to tease the Great Prophet. As they spoke, they were amused by Wayne’s monologue in the scene.

The crowd laughed unabashedly, not giving Saina any face. They all knew that Saina was the backer behind Wayne and Veronica, and those who didn’t want to laugh ended up laughing too.

Plus, the father’s words being made fun of by the son, it really was hilarious!

As they laughed, the crowd felt something was off. Saina, who should have been losing face, was laughing more heartily than anyone.

What’s going on, has this woman finally gone crazy?

She’s not going to go berserk, is she?

The crowd grew anxious. A Dragon Blood going insane was no laughing matter; it could actually be deadly.

They feared getting dragged into it and fell silent, no longer daring to laugh.

"Laugh, why aren’t you laughing now?"

Saina spoke coldly, her gaze sweeping over the crowd, then returning to Wayne, clearly very pleased with his performance.

Originally thinking he was the son of Austin, the poor reviews made it difficult to like him, but it turned out the father-son relationship was not harmonious at all, which immediately improved her opinion of him.

This scene was a full score!

Saina’s previous disdain vanished, and she felt quite fond of her student’s student.

Although Wayne had blood running through his veins that was abhorrent to others, and it was especially pure, almost a carbon copy of twenty years ago, Saina was annoyed at the sight of him. But since Wayne had promptly come to his senses, there was hope for redemption.

She was delighted!

Then, thinking of him as the sole heir of his generation, Saina immediately recognized Wayne as her own direct disciple, planning to send him some rewards after this promotion to praise him generously.

Wayne couldn’t possibly become the Saint Heir; the Goddess descending upon the Saint Heir would be too far-fetched. However, his mind and intellect were truly first-rate, with great potential for cultivation.

Saina planned to send Wayne to the Naturalist Knights Order, and if he passed the assessment, she would put great effort into infusing him with Dragon Blood, allowing him a transformation.

But first, she needed to determine if this heir was worth cultivating, to prevent another rebellious ingrate.

Just as she thought this, Wayne’s form changed in the scene, and everyone in the council chamber held their breath.

The Saint Heir...

Seems like it might not be impossible.

The Great Prophet rose from his seat with a slap to the desk, his indistinct face lighting up with intensity, as if having discovered treasure, and said, "That’s him, I want this person... No one can compete with me for him!"
