Chapter 558: Chapter 239: The Third Dragon Blood Strengthening_3

"I think High Priestess Saina is quite suitable. You have made enormous contributions to The Church, possess extremely powerful strength, you are favored by the gods, and you even have Dragon Blood..." the Mandrill blabbered on and on.

"Great Prophet, who else have you said similar things to?"

"No one, just you."

That meant there were others.

Let’s make a bold assumption, he’d said it to all the Divine Oracle High Priests.

Saina smiled and nodded, starting a mutual praise session with the Great Prophet, and the two quickly established an alliance, reaching a lightning-speed agreement to become allies.

Once they had finished praising each other, they turned and went their separate ways.

Even written contracts can be torn up, but a verbal agreement...

All I can say is, having one is better than not having any, a lame promise is still a promise, sort of like saying you’ll pay back money in a few days.

...

Villa number four.

Veronica, wearing an apron, was busy in the kitchen preparing afternoon tea. The skills of the young lady were known to those who knew them—it was just a few simple desserts after all, nothing life-threatening.

Compared to that, Vili was practically the perfect wife, with exquisite culinary skills, everything she made was delicious.

Teamed up with the good mother Chris, they were the perfect wife-and-mother combo.

Wayne, carrying a package, arrived at the dining room. Upon opening it, a bottle of Dragon Blood immediately caught his eye.

"Veronica, I have something cool to show you."

"Hold on, let me finish beating these eggs to death..."

"???"

Wayne didn’t understand, and dared not ask further. Silently, he hid the Dragon Blood in his sleeve and looked through the other items in the package.

A couple of books, a few maps, a letter, two pieces of black bodysuits, and a handbag full of Magic Gems.

Wayne spread out the bodysuits for inspection—the black patterns felt cold to the touch, the fabric seemed like magic metal, and it was extremely stretchy, with male and female models; one each for him and Veronica.

Upon opening the letter, the first line was a detailed description of the bodysuits.

Forged from Drake Scales, both the defense and elasticity were of top quality, guaranteeing that users wouldn’t burst out of their clothes and be left in the buff when transforming into elf or half-drake forms.

Besides, the bodysuit had the ability to be remolded by thought, allowing users to change its appearance into everyday clothing.

Their greatest advantage: they were heat resistant. When using Dragon Blood to purify the bloodlines, wearing the bodysuit would spare one from embarrassment.

"Nice, Veronica could really use this."

Wayne quickly stashed the two bodysuits into a drawer and continued reading the letter.

Saina was one of the Church headquarters’ upper echelons, involved in setting the rules. She was quite familiar with the selection of the Holy Maiden—in fact, she was one of the examiners.

The letter clarified the importance of the maps, informing Wayne of the exam questions, while the magic books were like study guides, urging Wayne and Veronica to quickly master the Faith Magic or Divine Arts within.

Because Saina wasn’t the only examiner, she couldn’t guarantee passing just by studying, but she could say that for the topic she set, aside from Wayne and Veronica, other candidates wouldn’t be able to answer.

"Well, it seems you guys have really got the hang of these rules."

Wayne silently critiqued, his impression of Saina slipping further; he was glad his teacher hadn’t turned into someone like her.

"How odd, teacher’s Dragon Blood came from Saina; she should be a bit daft herself, right? Could it be that she also met her own Austin?"

"You jerk, who are you calling brainless?"

Veronica walked out of the kitchen carrying a tray, glaring at Wayne fiercely. She had heard everything; society’s trash was badmouthing her again behind her back.

She’d like to see him not eat the desserts she had personally made.

Knowing better than to continue that topic, Wayne picked up a uniquely-shaped dessert and slowly savored it in his mouth.

The left side is sweet, the right side bitter, with no taste in the middle...

Who would have known a single dessert could have three flavors, if not informed, one might think Wayne was sampling perfumes!

"How is it, does it taste good?"

"Um, almost as good as Vili’s."

Wrong answer.

Veronica punched Wayne in the face, knowing it wasn’t good; but after toiling away for half a day, whether it was tasty or not, Wayne could only say it was delicious.

"Although it’s not delicious, I really like it..."

Wayne picked up the plate to drink down the dessert, then licked the dish so clean, his face contorted in agony: "I take back what I said earlier, it’s simply too delicious."

That’s more like it!

Veronica snorted coldly, picking up the map and looking at it: "What are these, walkthrough materials?"

"Pretty much, especially since we have connections."

Wayne carefully stored the letter and hurried towards the basement: "Come with me, there’s something else that can’t be shown openly for fear of having those two next door see it."

Now curious about what’s inside the package next door.

Seeing Wayne’s solemn expression, Veronica quickly followed him, glancing back at the plate licked cleaner than a dog’s, her steps slightly more sprightly.

In the basement, Wayne turned on the wall light, pretentiously drew a Magic Array on the ground, and then, turning sharply, opened the container holding Dragon Blood.

Veronica’s pupils shrank abruptly, completely not expecting to fall for such a low trick again.

Three times, three consecutive tricks, and she had not blocked a single one.

Flames enveloped her, and without a thread on, Veronica basked in the fire, staring blankly ahead, giving up on thought altogether.

Wayne peeked around, clicking his tongue in wonder; such was his touch that the Dragon Blood Girl had flourished in just a few days under his care.

Impressive growth, a promising future.

"Eh, I’ve been watching for quite a while now, why haven’t you cursed anyone out today?"

Wayne waited in vain for the sparse vocabulary, quickly urging her on; he knew the evolved Veronica was now capable of speech.

"Mother told me not to reward you at a whim." Veronica cast a disdainful glance his way, as if looking at some damp trash.

Teacher, what exactly have you taught Veronica?

Austin is Austin, a student is a student, how can one equate the two!

Wayne wore a sullen look, seeing Veronica smug, he immediately snorted and hurried to the living room, rummaging through a drawer to pull out a combat suit woven from Drake Scale.

He donned the male version, touched Veronica, unburnt by flames, and brazenly wrapped his arms around her from behind.

"You, where did you get these clothes from?"

Veronica’s tongue faltered, neck stiffly turning, her gaze dropping to Wayne’s ’big pig trotter’, then to the female combat suit laid out on the chair, immediately realizing the origins.

The combat suit arrived with the Dragon Blood.

Veronica exploded with rage, fury, and wrath, having experienced her third Dragon Blood enhancement, she could now move her limbs, slowly turning to knock down the trash, climbing on top of him to start a beating.

"Pervert! Scumbag! Bastard! Rubbish!"

"Die! Die———"

A reward may be late, but it never fails to show, and may even arrive super-doubled due to the delay.
