Chapter 541: Chapter 234: You Are My Trump Card
The Holy Purification Light soared to the sky, reversing the blood rain, cleansing with the holy will to scour away the filth.
Holy Light faith.
The Legendary Mage who practiced Holy Light faith.
Mona looked down from her high vantage point, surprised at the mysterious person who suddenly appeared. The Holy See and the Windsor Royal Family had signed a peace agreement; the former would not station Legendary Mages in Windsor, and the latter would not split from the Holy See to establish a new faith.
Where did this powerful person come from, a Liberty Mage from the Magic Department?
The blazing white light struck the Inverted Pentagram Magic Array, unable to break through with a single hit, it split into sixteen white chains, anchoring to the dark canopy enveloping the outskirts of the castle, further enforcing the barrier sealing the castle.
The energy of darkness and Holy Light intertwined and clashed, sparking arcs of electricity around the castle, the high temperature distorting the air, and the cold moon hanging in the night sky now possessed a touch more heat.
The figure in the white robe slowly emerged, Mona watched intently; the man was in his fifties, with neatly trimmed hair and beard, his golden eyes stirred with holy fervor, clearly a deeply devout believer.
Was he really a Liberty Mage?
All of a sudden, Mona hesitated, remembering another possibility.
Recently, devils appeared in Lundan time and again, and Archbishop Gunther conveyed the intel to the Papal State. On the surface, the Papal State adhered to the agreement, while secretly dispatching people to Lundan to investigate, looking for evidence of the Windsor Royal Family’s dealings with the devil.
Those in the know understand that, in order to drive out the influence of the Holy See within its territory, the Windsor Royal Family has constantly been in contact with Hell.
The Papal State was fully aware of this, and the Royal Family knew that the Papal State was aware. Both sides stretched their limits in a crazy display of tactics.
Overall, the Royal Family was at a disadvantage, unable to stand firm on the moral high ground.
The aligning of faith with good or evil was long concluded, with Heaven representing justice and Hell representing evil.
Backed by Heaven, the Holy See held the position of the foremost purveyor of justice in the God-chosen Continent, whereas the Windsor Royal Family, entangled with devils, was absolutely the villain.
There was no need to mention power struggles, nor say that strength does not differentiate between good and evil. Ordinary people don’t understand these nuances; as long as the Papal State gets hold of the evidence, it can manipulate the moral high ground and freely criticize the Royal Family.
Matters concerning the Papal State, after being influenced by Wayne, gradually became less significant to Mona. She dedicated herself entirely to serving her angelic master, offering everything to her faith.
Unlike Archbishop Gunther, who obeyed the Pope without question, the Papal State in Mona’s eyes was merely the spokesperson for faith on Earth. She bypassed the spokesperson and faced the faith directly, which significantly diminished the status of the Papal State.
Put simply, Mona, a minor employee of a department subordinate to the head office, got the chance to meet with the company’s top executives, became their assistant secretary while still drawing a salary from the department, but no longer working for them.
She hadn’t left her position because the department’s goals aligned with the top executives’, dedicated to combating the ambitious market expansion of rival companies.
There were many believers like Mona who respected the Pope because he held the supreme interpretation of faith on Earth. However, the moment direct divine intervention occurred, the Pope instantly lost his appeal.
No need to let the middleman make a profit!
Getting back to the point, Mona speculated that this mysterious Legendary Mage was from the Papal State. He neither appeared earlier nor later, but chose to reveal himself during Prince Edward’s birthday party, all to grasp evidence of the Royal Family’s collusion with the devil.
Boom!
Amid the screams of the guests, Juno hurled the Heaven Holy Spear, entangling in a fierce battle with the Elemental Devil that Sander had transformed into.
Contrary to Mona’s expectations, Juno was a Golden Mage. The Life Barrier sprang up, shielding the guests from the darkness’s erosion.
Moreover, Juno’s proficiency in Holy Light Magic was quite high, an outstanding performance, not resembling that of a Liberty Mage.
That’s absurd!
The Elemental Devil’s energy was strong; its black umbrella transformed into a greatsword, repeatedly striking and shaking the Life Barrier to the point of breaking.
"Mona, come help me quickly," Juno’s face changed drastically as she urgently called for assistance.
Mona then realized that although Juno was exceptional, due to her shaky faith, she had vast knowledge and high realm but not much strength, ranking at the bottom among the Golden Mages.
That’s more like it; otherwise, if anyone could master Holy Light, where would the value in faith be?
Mona transformed and donned her battle armor, throwing the Holy Spear with her hand, she teamed up with Juno to push back the Elemental Devil, while simultaneously contacting Wayne through her thoughts to ask if it was possible to use the Heaven Holy Spear.
"Not urgent, let’s wait and see..."
Wayne, with his head buried in the ground, looked puzzled at the sudden appearance of the Legendary Mage; this new third party didn’t seem to be the enforcer brought in by the Princess.
Things were getting more chaotic.
The white-robed Legendary Mage’s gaze was as sharp as lightning; he pushed out his Life Force Field, dragging Juliet into his own world at the first opportunity.
The two of them vanished into thin air, leaving Edward and Carol silly standing in the same place.
The engaged couple was dazed, their eyes lost as they maintained the motion of looking up at the sky, silly and seemingly not very bright.
Wayne initially thought the same, in his memory the Prince had nothing more than a good appearance, was brainless, and a waste indulging in his base desires.
Carol was arrogant and tyrannical, with a terrible temper befitting a spoiled young lady, making her and Edward the perfect storm-hit pair.
However...
The betrothed couple stood dazed, their consciousness entranced by delusions, slowly drifting away from the center of the battleground, gradually making their way to the edge of the castle wall.
They remained expressionless; Carol’s lips barely moved, "Edward, Celeste is here, is this part of your plan?"
"Hmm, Elizabeth has got her eyes on me. My attempt to control the devil failed, so I had to turn to the Magic Department to find Celeste. He is highly proficient in Holy Light Magic and being a Legendary Mage, he’s best at dealing with devils," Edward replied.
