Chapter 527: Chapter 229 Candidate Wayne, You Are Not Pure_2
After dinner, Wayne didn’t bother Veronica. Dragon Blood was too proud; he should let her cool down for a couple of days before launching a fierce attack, which would then likely result in a big step forward in their relationship.
Kissing every time isn’t enough, it’s about time to unlock a few more positions.
Returning to Wayne Manor, Wayne asked Philark to prepare a candlelit dinner, then picked up the phone to call Chris.
There’s no rush to notify Philomena; she’s too clingy, like a little girl. He would surprise her in a few days.
"Eh, Wayne, you’re back?"
Veronica came into the living room, curious, "Is your mission over?"
"It’s over."
Wayne calmly put down the phone, "I was about to call you. I didn’t expect you to be home. How convenient, Philark has prepared dinner, just the two of us tonight."
"Is this just a coincidence?"
Sitting at the dining table, Veronica looked at the candlelight, the petals, and the romantic Frankish cuisine, and her heart involuntarily began to race.
Tonight, it was just her and Wayne at home, no tutoring from her senior, no meddling by Veronica...
Her heartbeat quickened even more.
However, nothing happened. Wayne deftly parried the barrage of adolescent attacks using his Tai Chi moves.
After dinner, while Veronica wondered if her senior had already secured the first "kill," Wayne extended an invitation. He had recently designed a few new outfits and needed a female model.
Veronica nodded eagerly and hopped along with Wayne into the bedroom.
Click!
The door locked behind them; Veronica had locked it.
"Veronica, this evening gown is backless, you’ve put it on backwards."
"Stop kidding around, these are stay-up stockings, not arm sleeves..."
"You’re supposed to fasten the bra from the front, don’t you know that?"
"I really can’t with you, let me help you put it on!"
The model, being rather clumsy and not too bright, left the clothing designer no choice but to offer close personal guidance for the sake of progress.
After a bit of maneuvering, he found that Veronica looked fierce and anxious, as if she would be slow to act when needed, but in fact, when push came to shove, she was timid, just like Veronica; she’d just close her eyes at the crucial moment.

The next afternoon, Wayne received a call from Hefei with a serious tone, urging him to rush to the district headquarters as fast as possible.
Flora had made her move!
She had been quiet until now, but when she acted, it was explosive.
District headquarters, the conference room.
Wayne and Veronica arrived at the same time, meeting a solemn-looking Hefei and a handsome man.
"This is Knight Lina, from The Church headquarters’ Naturalist Knights Order, who has taken a few photos..."
Hefei reluctantly regarded her student and daughter, "I told you to keep it low-key, to not lavish in romance for a while, why couldn’t you listen? Now, look, someone has caught evidence."
Lina turned up unexpectedly, taking Hefei by surprise, without giving her a chance to react, holding a briefcase and declaring his intent for a face-off.
He had evidence of a candidate’s impropriety, with photos as proof.
Lina did not specify which candidate he meant, but Hefei, guilty conscience and all, misunderstood that her student and daughter had been caught on camera.
"Photos?!"
Wayne tensed, curious about the source of the photos. He hadn’t left his house or made moves on Philomena; they had kept to the sewers, so in theory, there shouldn’t have been any photos taken.
As for Veronica, it was even less likely. Throughout the mission, he had behaved like a proper brother.
A true brother, not the kind that you find in orthopedic clinic registration.
"Knight Lina, the two candidates are here, it’s time to present your evidence." What was inevitable had come, and Hefei was mentally prepared.
"High Priest, please wait a moment, I need a witness." Lina adhered to the knight’s code, speaking in the interest of fairness and justice.
This irked Hefei, who said sarcastically, "Let me guess, who’s the witness? Could it be Flora Evelina, the former Holy Maiden and now the Windsor District Priest?"
"High Priest, although Flora has resigned, she served The Church diligently for many years, tirelessly spreading the Goddess’s glory. Please do not call her by her full name."
Lina was flushed with embarrassment from being called out, and putting aside his bootlicking tendencies, as a knight, he was quite competent.
For example, he had a sense of shame; being exposed by Hefei in the moment left him feeling utterly base.
Without overcoming this issue, he’d never catch a glimpse of Flora’s thighs.
"Looks like it is so. Guards, please summon Priest Flora." Hefei bellowed outside the door, and the assistant scurried away.
Lina composed himself, with a grave expression, "High Priest, please, do not misunderstand. Flora does not know the evidence I possess. The reason for her presence is because I have no one I trust in Lundan."
The more he explained, the less believable he sounded.
You certainly have seen the Holy Maiden’s thighs!
Wayne rolled his eyes, "Knight Lina, yesterday in Winchester, I met another investigator who also came from the Naturalist Knights Order headquarters. Objectively speaking, he made a better impression than you."
"Which knight was it?"
"Gavin Floy."
"The Vice Commander..."
Lina was shocked, wondering why the Vice Commander would personally arrive in Lundan. Were there other secret missions? Then he thought if it was any other Vice Commander, it seemed reasonable.
"That investigator gave Veronica and me high praise, full marks indeed," said Wayne nonchalantly.
Young man, your superior has spoken. If you’re wise, destroy the photos.
And one more thing, if you keep throwing around the title of Vice Commander, your future is limited!
Lina caught his breath, and after a moment, shook his head, "The Vice Commander is tolerant and not bogged down by trivial matters. If he wants to give you full marks, it must be because of your talent. I’m different; I pay attention to details. You’ve made a mistake in principle, and I do not recognize you as a qualified primary candidate."
