Chapter 248: Chapter 136: Self-Destruction

Boom!!

The cataclysmic explosion shook the heavens and earth; lava rivers churned continuously, red mountains toppled and collapsed, the ground trembled violently as if it was about to flip over.

Renata raised her wings, forming a giant Magic Array with a diameter of a hundred meters, embellished with the Holy Scripture Pattern and outlining the Golden Rule Holy Words.

She bathed in the Holy Light, her aura climbed higher and higher, and amidst barely audible prayers, the Holy Light condensed into tangible Holy Words, which in turn sketched out the massive phantom of an Angel in the air.

The Angel phantom stood over a hundred meters tall, draped in a white robe; his wings and the hem of his robe seemed to fade into nothingness, blending into the surrounding space, his face blurry and indistinct, only the holy silhouette of light was visible.

The moment the Angel phantom appeared, Renata’s presence soared to the highest in the area, the combination of the Demon Bat and the Thousand-Eyed Demon were powerless to contend against her.

Even the lava territory seemed on the verge of collapse under the oppression of the Holy Light.

Watching the Angel phantom lifting the Holy Light Spear, Wayne felt a tingling in his scalp. Was it a bit inappropriate for him to face such an advanced scenario with a new body he had just taken control of, and a newly acquired territory the manual for which he hadn’t even glanced at?

"Bat, let’s join forces to drive the Angel back," the Thousand-Eyed Demon bellowed. They were all Devils, any conflict could be resolved after driving the Angel back to Heaven.

Wayne didn’t say a word, he simply flipped the Thousand-Eyed Demon the bird.

He, a fake Devil and a paragon of justice undercover in the villain’s camp, would be mad to oppose the Angel. What good would it bring him?

The Holy Light Spear descended, its light vast and resplendent, blinding and boundless.

With an attack coming from all sides, it gave the Thousand-Eyed Demon no chance to dodge. After failing to rally his teammate, he let out a low growl, and Black Smoke Wings wrapped around from both sides, forming a black inverted triangle shield in front of him.

On the shield were carvings resembling long dragon-serpent bodies, without visible head or tail, their myriad eyes scattered throughout, exuding evil and filth with a highly corrosive nature, completely opposite to the energy contained within the Holy Light.

The indestructible Energy Holy Spear clashed against the unbreakable Hell Shield, and in a flash of lightning, a mountain-splitting boom erupted.

Brilliant light surged toward the dome, countless swords tearing through the darkness, piercing into the depths of the swirling Hell Gate;

Dark mists surged downward, long black fog serpents climbed and weaved, shuttling through the mountains and red rivers.

Two distinctly opposite energies momentarily stalemated, the light gathering force to overwhelm darkness, shattering the shield and slamming fiercely onto the Thousand-Eyed Demon.

The Thousand-Eyed Demon spread his Scimitars in both hands, crossing them in front of his chest to meet the tip of the tremendous Energy Holy Spear. Overpowered by the cataclysmic force, he was sent flying backward, crashing into the red river of lava.

As the Holy Light Spear pressed down, it thundered into the Red Continent, the devastating Holy Flame erupting forth, forcefully turning the dark sky and the Red Continent a bright white.

So strong, she alone could handle the Thousand-Eyed Demon. What’s next, is it my turn?

Wait a minute, something doesn’t seem right!

Wayne’s eyes widened as he suddenly realized there was something seriously wrong with his thinking—he was one of the good guys, just not obviously so. Why on earth should he adopt the standpoint of a Devil?

It must be because he’d gotten too into his undercover role and hadn’t snapped out of it yet.

Wayne could sense the intense hostility from the Angel, who attacked the Thousand-Eyed Demon first, presumably to avoid being ganged up on. Once the Thousand-Eyed Demon fell, the Holy Spear would then turn towards him.

That’s fine, Wayne approved of this plan; take out the Thousand-Eyed Demon first, and then slowly clear up the misunderstanding.

He wasn’t a Devil after all!

The Demon Bat’s eyes glowed gold; countless lava streams converged from all directions toward the point where the Thousand-Eyed Demon had fallen.

The viscous lava gathered and compressed into an incredibly hard red sphere, which, with a single gesture from the Demon Bat, shot skywards, like a cannonball hurtling towards Renata.

Renata had been charging a powerful skill, and after releasing it, her aura plummeted rapidly, the Angel phantom she’d conjured began to disperse.

In the last moments before the light faded, she channeled all her Holy Light into the spear and hurled it at the swiftly approaching magma sphere.

The Energy Holy Spear penetrated the lava, countless blades sprouting forth. From a distance, the fiery sphere looked like a curled-up hedgehog, bristling with dense white spikes.

Boom!

The Thousand-Eyed Demon, surrounded by Black Smoke Wings, hovered in the air, a bowl-sized wound punctured through his chest.

His face was shrouded in dark mist, his features nearly contorted with rage.

Both being Devils, the Angel had chosen to cooperate with the Demon Bat instead of him.

In a hazy vision, the Thousand-Eyed Demon foresaw his future: being driven back to Hell by the Angel and the Demon Bat, complaining to his fellow Devil allies in a bar.

I was so close to winning!

If it was just about becoming the butt of jokes in Hell, the Thousand-Eyed Demon felt he could cope, though not easily; after all, there were countless such jokes in Hell, and ones about failed descents were unimaginative, lacking punch or novelty, and couldn’t dominate the headlines.

In a place where everyone was the subject of mockery, he’d at most be laughed at for a couple of days before it all blew over.

The real reason the Thousand-Eyed Demon was so furious, or rather desperate, was that he could not afford to lose. His mind descended to the mortal realm could not return to Hell. If erased, his main body’s strength would inevitably plummet.

Moreover, it wasn’t just his thoughts that had descended to the human world, but a part of his soul as well.

In the simple and straightforward Hell, without strength, he couldn’t maintain his territory, and without territory, his power would further decline. Coupled with allies who only kicked him while he was down, his future was obvious.
