Chapter 213: Chapter 123 Bruce Wayne
With the sound of a gunshot, the atmosphere in the area suddenly became tense.
The leading man smiled slightly, unfazed he said, "We are all followers of Hell, and though our beliefs may differ, our enemies are the same. The enemy of our enemy is our friend, so don’t point your gun at your friends."
"Which Demon God do you serve? Forgive my frankness, but these days there are too many unscrupulous mages pretending to be devotees of Hell. Why should I believe you aren’t deceiving me?" Wayne did not lower his handgun but merely pointed it towards the ground.
Seeing this, the group of men in black robes grew even more arrogant, and they reached for their belts, ready to teach Wayne a lesson.
A bunch of idiots, always thinking with the wrong head!
The leading man snorted coldly. As the head honcho, no one dared to challenge his status, and the clamor abruptly ceased.
Mona leaned against the corner of the wall, sat down while panting heavily, glanced around, and then closed her eyes in despair.
It’s over!
"My name is Jeliff. I cannot tell you which deity I worship at this moment, but I can only tell you this much, and you’ll have to figure out the rest on your own."
The leading man introduced himself, "It’s obvious you can use Blood Magic; you must be a disciple of the Blood Monarch on Earth. My master and the Blood Monarch are allies, so we are allies too."
Is that true, or is it just a devil making an alliance?
What for, to better betray later?
Wayne couldn’t figure it out, but went with the flow, "Clearly, you all reek of evil and are definitely not from the Holy See. Given that, I’ll trust you this once."
After saying this, he quickly stepped over to Mona, raised his gun to knock her out, and then heaving her mature body onto his shoulder.
"What, you don’t want to talk about cooperation?"
Jeliff raised his hand blocking the way and said softly, "We are engaged in a great plan that, if successful, will be enough to crush the influence of the Holy See in Lundan. I’ve said so much; you don’t think you can leave here easily, do you?"
"You want to invite me to join?"
Wayne patted his backside, his fingers caressing the fabric, with a tone suppressing rage that perfectly portrayed a tiger fallen flat being bullied by a dog.
"Yes, and you cannot refuse."
After Jeliff finished speaking, his minions burst into laughter; it wasn’t quite a wild dance of devils, but it was definitely a farce.
"You’re right, I definitely don’t have the power to refuse you..."
"Let’s go; we’ll provide you with a place to stay. My master might find you very interesting."
Wayne closed his eyes, suppressing his anger, unable to comprehend how his foolproof plan had turned out like this.
He had only wanted to probe Mona tonight, to confirm she was from the Holy See, and then pass the heavy responsibility of protecting Lundan onto her, so he could leave without a care and wait to take advantage by donning his Vest System and double-crossing them.
Where had things gone wrong, leading to him putting himself in danger and getting into the den of iniquity?
And to think, they trusted him just because he could use Blood Magic, without even checking. The intelligence of these people was truly pitiful.
With such lamebrains to conquer the world, the Thousand-Eyed Demon had no chance of succeeding!
Wayne had reason to suspect that these men were nothing but cannon fodder.
The Black Space Gate opened, and Wayne followed Jeliff to an open space where the sky was a dull gray, with no sight of the moon or stars and no thick fog permeating the area.
The clearing was in a dilapidated, desolate ancient city, with an architectural style identical to the one Wayne had seen previously, but he could not sense Ah Bo’s presence, which meant this was another stronghold of the Thousand-Eyed Demon.
This devil knew well the principle of the cautious hare having three burrows, teaching Wayne a harsh lesson with his own caution.
In a corner of the ancient city, over a hundred presences, strong and weak, mainly unsightly and concealed in black robes, were clearly visible as the villains’ lair.
A particularly destitute kind.
Around the clearing, several fire pits gathered quite a few people, with thick ingredients bubbling in iron pots. Perhaps it was cooks akin to night soil collectors who threw in spices, inserted large spoons to stir, and tasted for flavor.
The hygiene is too poor!
Wayne smelled the revolting aroma of the food, turned his head, and buried it in the soft fabric of the ’big sister’ he was carrying, using her pleasant scent to combat the queasy feeling of nausea.
Jeliff and his group came from various backgrounds.
Jeliff himself was a disciple of the Thousand-Eyed Demon, gathering a bunch of minions and receiving favors from his master, which made him the most powerful. The others included black sorcerers wanted on hit lists, with strengths varying and beliefs diverse.
Seeing the newcomer, especially one carrying a nun from the Holy See, the black sorcerers were restless, wanting to snatch the casting materials from the newcomer’s shoulder.
Whether they intended physical casting or other means, their wolfish and tigerish eyes made it clear that most of them were after the former.
Opening a store here would certainly draw a booming business.
"A bunch of rubbish!"
Being close, Wayne heard Jeliff’s contemptuous whisper and agreed. Being obsessed with women meant they had no chance of achieving great things; these people were destined to be cannon fodder.
Wayne grew even more curious about the Thousand-Eyed Demon’s plans as he observed Jeliff’s actions. Even if it meant using forceful tactics, Jeliff seemed determined to gather enough manpower. Did the Thousand-Eyed Demon’s plan require that much cannon fodder? Didn’t he have many bugs at his disposal?
Suddenly, Wayne thought of something: The Thousand-Eyed Demon seemed to be planning for a new body.
Good. If the true body of the Thousand-Eyed Demon appeared, he could just wear the Death Knight Vest and slaughter without worry about exposure.
"You can pick a room, but don’t stray too far from the square. The rule here is no infighting, but group robbery is permitted. If you can’t hold your own, you’re welcome to share your catch," Jeliff reminded.
