Chapter 1273: Chapter 430: Hexuno: Frey, You’re Not Pure!
At dawn the next day.
The sky was blue and clear, with leisurely white clouds.
May’s sunlight wasn’t scorching. The backyard was teeming with spring’s warmth, flowers blooming everywhere, a gentle breeze rippling through, causing shadows of the trees to interlace and dispersing streaks of coolness and floral fragrance. The sight of vibrancy and all life competing to thrive unfolded right in front of the eyes.
A leisurely day, a tranquil heart, a wonderful morning beginning slightly later than usual.
Wayne stood in his bedroom by the window, wearing only a pair of shorts. Looking down, he spotted Knight Teacher Valkyrie leaning against a large tree, waiting for her student Viley. In her hand, she held a small yellow flower, seemingly savoring the essence of spring.
It was supposed to be time for sword practice—but the student hadn’t shown up and was still sleeping in.
Valkyrie seemed to understand something. She didn’t head to the bedroom as usual to drag Viley out of the covers. Noticing someone watching her, she raised her chin slightly and nodded toward Wayne.
Wayne wasn’t sure if it was just a hallucination, but he read two parts resignation, three parts annoyance, and ninety-five parts disdain in Valkyrie’s glance.
"It must be a hallucination..."
Wayne nodded to himself silently. That first love back on August 20th wasn’t a person of fickle sentiments—she definitely wouldn’t have forgotten him just because Viley came along, nor would she complain that he had spoiled Viley.
Indeed, that must be it.
Wayne waved casually and greeted Valkyrie, but she ignored him, instead turning her gaze toward the depths of the garden.
There, a black cat lingered.
Wayne extended his thoughts, sending a telepathic transmission to Valkyrie, explaining that the black cat was called Monica, a new pet. It used to live in Lando Manor but would now reside at Wayne Manor.
Valkyrie nodded, avoiding Wayne’s gaze as she toyed with the yellow flower in her hand, attempting to coax the black cat.
Soon enough, she succeeded in petting Monica.
"Such karmic entanglement!"
Wayne heaved a wistful sigh.
The Sun Goddess’ Knight Order had been given the command to slay dragons, leading to some heart-to-heart interactions in the Dragon Kingdom with Xizor. The result was a tragic toll of casualties among the Sun Knight Order. Xizor, face-to-face with death, chose survival over demise, pledged loyalty, and became a Subsidiary God to the Goddess of Death.
Monica ≈ Goddess of Death.
Valkyrie wasn’t just petting a cat—she was touching the ultimate leader of her sworn enemy.
To make this karmic relationship even more profound, Wayne decided to send a telepathic transmission, saying Monica still needed a caretaker. If Valkyrie didn’t mind, she could take on the responsibility.
Valkyrie didn’t seem to object; she preferred cats over owls anyway.
"Interesting!"
Wayne smirked, turning to glance at the three golden-haired heads lying on the bed. If this was his harem, it brought him joy. If it was Chris’ harem instead...
Well, that somehow seemed even more delightful!
...
In the dining room, Butler Philark had already prepared breakfast, with one additional serving compared to usual.
Last night, Wayne was quiet, sneaking into the manor under cover of darkness, embodying the essence of good old "caught red-handed." Philark wasn’t entirely certain about his master’s stealthy, late-night return, but judging by Chris’ suddenly shifted schedule, he deduced Wayne had indeed come home.
Now that’s professionalism!
Wayne enjoyed the carefully prepared meal, contemplating whether it was time to move—pack up Wayne Manor completely and relocate to Lando Manor.
He had previously stayed away because of the many secrets and pairs of wings he carried, which, if spotted by Slyphy, could have tarnished his image of a perfect student in the eyes of his teacher.
Now, though, his teacher had practically morphed into a doting mother. Secrets and wings weren’t things a "mother" would care about.
Those rules imposed upon Austin were completely waived when it came to Wayne; the double standards were glaringly obvious. Before he could even climb to the roof, a ladder was already prepared for him.
Still, Wayne was fond of the current Wayne Manor—he was sentimental, after all. Once accustomed to a place, he was reluctant to move.
Yet if he chose to stay put, what would happen to the thirty years of promises he made west of Themes River to Philark?
Such a dilemma!
"Master, a lady named Juno has been trying to reach you for the past couple of days. She doesn’t know your whereabouts and has called Wayne Manor, hoping you’ll get the message and contact her soon. She says she’s in Lundan and wishes to discuss something very important face-to-face," Philark said.
"Juno..."
Wayne stroked his chin. Juno typically wouldn’t seek him out unless something critical had occurred. After numerous calls in a row, chances were this tied directly to him.
Fade to the commercial street and Wayne Detective Agency.
Wayne sat in his office for five minutes before running into Juno by chance as she happened to pass by and decided to drop in.
"Wow, lucky me—I caught you right away,"
Juno exclaimed in surprise, praising her womanly intuition to no end. She had an intense feeling early in the day that she’d run into Wayne and decided to check the agency.
Her instincts were spot on!
With luck like this, she should go buy lottery tickets later!
"Well, you’re certainly impressive,"
Wayne invited Juno to sit, clasping his hands on the desk as he smiled and asked, "When did you return to Lundan, and what’s so urgent this time?"
"Something big has happened—I returned together with those three Reincarnated Angels,"
Juno’s eyes widened, bustling with energy. "I know you’re probably aware, but still, let me say it: You might not believe it, but the leader of the Reincarnated Angels is none other than Uriel—one of the Four Archangels. Now isn’t that some explosive news?"
"Hardly fresh—I’ve known for a while,"
Wayne frowned slightly, recalling the words Hexuno once spoke. He extended his thoughts, urging Mona to hurry to the agency and start work.
Uriel wouldn’t have brought two lesser angels to Lundan just for team-building exercises. He was most likely chasing intel related to a Devil.
A Devil was concealed within Lundan—a cunning one at that—and due to its treacherous schemes, Hexuno had been unable to fully awaken, suffering defeat after defeat, even losing his purity in the process.
Before awakening, Mona was merely an ordinary nun. Despite her extraordinary past life, it didn’t grant her special significance in this one.
However, Hexuno had adamantly claimed that just as she was about to awaken, a Devil discovered and suppressed her using a Hell Seal. Such a feat could only be achieved by one of the Seven Demon Lords tier.
