Chapter 1271: Chapter 429 Austin: Master Wayne_3

Wayne sneered twice and explained the situation in the Underworld Great Tomb, including the latest intelligence on the Reincarnated Angels and the Death Kingdom.

Austin’s eyes widened as he stared at Mona in astonishment, learning that she was also an Archangel, and one representing the pure Hexuno no less. For a moment, he was at a loss for words.

"You slept with an Archangel? Doesn’t the Heavenly Father have any objections?"

"Has the Pope gone insane? Arranging for an Archangel to serve as a companion—going to Hell a thousand times wouldn’t be enough to atone!"

Austin rubbed his temples. Compared to Mona’s true identity, the Black Cat being the suspected Goddess of Death suddenly seemed utterly mundane.

As for the rebellion in Hades, it was too far away for Austin to have any interest in analyzing it.

Not his problem!

"No, no, no—it is somewhat your problem. You hold this Ancient Silver Coin, and the Observer Grew will take the initiative to contact you."

Wayne glanced at Austin. "Don’t forget, he previously used the Lucky Ancient Silver Coin to make a deal with you and got you to level the Lundan Headquarters of the Naturalism Church in the Windsor District."

Austin’s hand trembled slightly as he held the Ancient Silver Coin. In a low voice, he asked, "So what you’re saying is that the Nature Goddess schemed against the Goddess of Death, and Grew, unable to rebel against the Nature Goddess, vented his frustration on the Naturalism Church?"

"It’s possible..."

Wayne shook his head. The truth was unclear for now; they’d need to wait for accurate intelligence from Rone’s side.

"Monica staying in the Lando Manor is too dangerous. Take her to Wayne Manor—she’s your responsibility now," Austin said flatly.

"Why should I?"

"Your mother and your fiancée are at the Lando Manor. You wouldn’t want them to get caught in the crossfire, would you?"

"Ha! Veronica spends every night at Wayne Manor—it’s like her soul’s been hooked away. And as for the teacher, just keep her busy with overtime. What’s there to worry about?" Wayne snorted.

"Name your price."

"Call me Family Head or Master Wayne, and we’ll talk."

"Master Wayne!" Austin complied without hesitation.

"..."

For the sake of his wife and child, this man was willing to endure anything, even his least favorite "little trash bin." There was nothing Austin couldn’t tolerate.

The refreshingly straightforward "Master Wayne" left Wayne feeling utterly unaccomplished.

He rolled his eyes, failing to derive any satisfaction from the exchange, and begrudgingly conceded, "Fine, I’ll take Monica away tonight. But if she comes back on her own, that’s beyond my control."

"Take the Ancient Silver Coin too. Trade her for it—she probably won’t return then."

Austin immediately agreed, tossing the Lucky Ancient Silver Coin to Wayne and taking an unenchanted, buff-less blank coin in return.

Having come to terms with the Twilight Deadlock, Austin no longer needed the Ancient Silver Coin to suppress the roiling Dark Power within him. Losing the Lucky Buff was the only thing he gave up in this trade with Wayne.

Seeing how quick Austin was to agree left Wayne feeling even more deflated. Exasperated, he muttered, "This is luck we’re talking about—are you sure? Without this coin, it’s not certain you’d have the sheer luck to meet me."

"Meeting you is the greatest misfortune of my life!" Austin retorted sourly.

Of course, those words were just his pride talking. Austin was painfully aware that without Wayne, the Lando family wouldn’t have survived this long—it would’ve collapsed ages ago.

"Keep the Lucky Ancient Silver Coin for now. As for Monica, I still need to run a little experiment tonight," Wayne said with a sly squint.

"Don’t mess around. If Monica is truly Death incarnate, you’d do well not to provoke her," Austin warned with a frown. Ideally, both the coin and Monica should just be sent away.

Wayne adjusted his glasses. Provoke? He’d long since entangled himself with her.

In the past, "he" had been a Death Knight. Now, he was still a Death Knight. His ill-fated tangle with the Dark Goddess could not be severed. Sending Monica away wouldn’t solve anything.

Besides, serving as the shared lapdog of several Goddesses wasn’t as straightforward as it sounded—it’s no mere game of currying favor with deities. Currently, there were only three Subsidiary Gods left in Hades, and if possible, Wayne was inclined to scheme his way into power.

"A man lives beneath the heavens—how can he long dwell in obscurity?"

In the previous scenario, Wayne’s fallback had been the Divine Realm of Storms and Thunder. But as updates expanded the map and revealed greater terrain, one of his hands now gripped the shaft of a halberd; Hades was firmly within his sights.

Seeing Wayne stay silent, Austin felt resignated. If he could control this son of his, there wouldn’t have been a blade placed against the Queen’s throat in the first place.

...

That evening, the Lando Family Banquet.

The Master, the Madam, the Young Master, the Young Master’s secretary-slash-lover—everyone who should’ve been there had arrived, with no absentees.

There was also the Young Master’s new lackey and the Madam’s former subordinate, seated among the guests.

The Lando family, well-endowed financially, boasted a large stockpile of provisions. Isabella ate through the entire afternoon and declared she could keep going.

Such blatant squandering of resources would have been punishable during wartime. But given how quickly Isabella "sold," signing a contract of servitude and securing her long-term meal ticket, she had no intention of letting go.

In terms of investment acumen, she was undoubtedly at a Goddess level.

Slyphy warmly hosted Mona throughout, treating her as Austin’s Megan and placing high hopes upon her. The two exchanged a few private words from time to time and appeared to get along splendidly.

With a pleasant voice and an air of grace, Mona was instantly fond of Slyphy.

After conversing with Mona, Slyphy, perplexed, attempted to exchange a few words with Isabella. She was trying to figure out if her son had randomly brought home another woman without a good reason. In all likelihood, this one had been approved beforehand.

Results were middling—Isabella just kept eating.

Slyphy shot Wayne a look, rolling her eyes. This new addition wasn’t up to par; she’d need to bring her back for some training.

Wayne said nothing. The handwritten decree from the Divine Oracle High Priest had given Slyphy full authority over Isabella’s handling—just don’t let her starve, that was all that mattered.

At eight o’clock sharp, a black sedan pulled out of the Lando Manor.
