Chapter 1175: Chapter 405: I Beg You, Please Don’t Die_3
Sang Lan’s response and expression were faultless, and Wayne, frowning, said, "Not hiding this from you, I’m here on official duty. Headquarters received intelligence from a Holy See informant that there has been significant activity in the Papal State recently, with several suspected Reincarnated Angels arriving in Paris aiming for the Underworld Great Tomb."
Sang Lan’s breath hitched, and she hurriedly asked, "Reincarnated Angels? How could the Papal State afford such a force? Is the source of the intelligence reliable?"
"Very reliable."
Wayne slowly said, "According to reliable information, the Papal State has detected a large presence of Devils in Paris and intends to open the Hell Gate in the Underworld Great Tomb, hence they dispatched a huge army of Reincarnated Angels."
"This, this..."
Sang Lan was choked up, taking a deep breath she said, "Divine Oracle High Priest, this information is too important. I must have someone verify it. Please wait; I know Archbishop Dio from Saint Sylvestre Church, maybe I could get some clues from him."
"No need for that."
Wayne raised a hand to stop her: "The Papal State suspects that the local Holy See has been controlled by Devils. The Angelic Army did not inform the Archbishop upon their arrival, and even if you ask him, he wouldn’t know, and even if he did, he belongs to a different faction and would not tell you."
"You are right."
Sang Lan nodded, "It was my agitation; the thought of such a powerful force arriving in Paris, and the Church not having the means to resist, made me somewhat panicked, fearing that after the Angels clear out the Devils, they might see the Church as a target too."
"Indeed, that’s the point, Angels are prideful, one by one, and they would blame us, saying our regional headquarters harbors Devils, and we could not stop them from forcibly entering."
Wayne said, "That’s why headquarters sent me to assess the situation and if necessary, relocate the living forces of the division to avoid conflict with Heavenly Father’s Court."
Sang Lan nodded repeatedly, finding it reasonable, and very much agreeing.
"I came over today to say hello, just to get acquainted. You might not believe this, but we actually have quite a connection."
"Oh? How so?"
"My instructor was named Slyphy Lando, no, Slyphy Valentine, who was once in charge of the Paris Scalpel Organization and worked under you..."
Wayne chatted along freely, discussing this family and that household, saying how shameless the wife of the Wong family was, spouting gibberish and useless talks, but somehow managed to keep Sang Lan in the office chatting for three hours.
Sang Lan was numb, having never encountered a man who talks so much nonsense, his lips moving as if they could go on for a whole day.
Finally, when Wayne took a breath, she quickly interjected, "Divine Oracle High Priest, it’s mealtime. Please, let’s move to the dining room, and we can continue talking while we eat."
Only I can interject here!
Wayne thought with annoyance but nodded, "Sure, I’m tired of talking. We’ll put that matter aside for now, and we’ll continue after coming back."
"Isabella, you go first with the Divine Oracle High Priest to the dining room, I’ll change my clothes and follow shortly."
Sang Lan instructed Isabella, then watching the two leave through the door, she walked slowly to the inner room.
A white robe was shed off, simple apparel outlining elegant curves, deep and intoxicating like a fine wine, without losing a stunning sense of fashion.
The robe accidentally slid to the floor, and Sang Lan bent over to pick it up, her sleek long legs under the warm light casting a white glow, resembling an artwork, tempting one to marvel at it.
Sang Lan closed her eyes to sense the surroundings, confirming there were no voyeurs around; then, she slowly stood straight, hanging the white robe properly.
She changed into another robe, her fingertips brushed over the bookshelf, opening a secret compartment from which a white dove used for communication popped out.
"Coo coo coo—"
Sang Lan waved a handful of corn, murmuring a spell, embedding the information inside the pigeon’s mind.
With a snap of her fingers, the halo shifted and her form transformed into a young, beautiful girl in a white robe, lively and innocent as she walked outside the office.
The door was pushed open, a hand reached in, pressing on the girl’s forehead pushing her back into the office.
"High Priest, I suddenly remembered something."
Wayne, intrigued, eyed the moving figure under the robe, apologetically saying, "It seems you have a very difficult situation to handle, I hope I’m not disturbing you by discussing other matters?"
Sang Lan’s heart hitched, her smile unchanged, "Not at all, serving you is my duty, I have changed my clothes, we can go to the dining room now."
"No rush."
Wayne tightened his grip, and the girl in the robe yelped, morphing into a fluttering white dove.
Wayne, holding the dove in his palm, stared with a deep gaze, "Encrypted communication written in thinking, what did it record?"
"Personal privacy!"
"Coincidentally, I love peeking into personal privacy, especially in front of the person, it’s more interesting."
Wayne’s voice grew colder, a thread of thought blossomed, and he saw an encrypted message through the dove’s eyes: "Decrypting will take some time, please wait a moment longer, I’ll get it sorted out soon."
