Chapter 1174: Chapter 405: I Beg You, Please Don’t Die_2
Seeing Isabella’s pupils contract, Wayne continued: "I had a bit of a scuffle with the former Pope Ludwig. Contrary to rumors, it wasn’t that he neglected his duties, but rather that a dead man can’t govern."
"Gulp!"
Isabella’s cold sweat soaked through her clothes, and facing the true wielder of power at the Naturalism Church, she couldn’t help but feel her knees weaken.
This golden ticket is powerful—it’s good for a lifetime!
Seeing her full of bluster and almost bursting at the seams, having overfed her new junior sister, Wayne was quite satisfied and timely shared some gossip to relieve the awkward atmosphere: "As for my relationship with the Pope, you can think of it like me and Mona, raising your voice a bit in the future so you don’t embarrass me."
"What the...?"
Isabella was feeling terrible: "But...is it really okay to do this with your teacher’s teacher?"
"Is there any law that says it’s not allowed?"
The law doesn’t, but morality...
Isabella mulled over it. According to Slyphy, Saina has a terrible character. Even if she’s morally bankrupt, it’s Saina’s fault. The shameless old woman aimed to become Pope, extending her claws towards her student’s student and made her way up through the ranks by becoming a Naturalist Knight.
Yes, that’s the case.
"Wayne, you’ve been wronged."
"Uh, you’re definitely thinking some very rude thoughts..."
As they walked and talked, Wayne revealed a few more tidbits about the Naturalism Church Headquarters, filling Isabella to the brim, just in time as they arrived at the Naturalism Church’s Paris Division Headquarters.
The outside was a private library, very Naturalist Alliance.
The library was vast in size, filled with the fragrance of books, the warm and tranquil air conveying a sense of peace.
Isabella greeted the gatekeeper and flashed her ID to enter the real Division Headquarters.
Wayne used facial recognition, his powerful demeanor and excellent eloquence allowing him to appear very friendly. With his outstanding speaking skills and a genial smile, he successfully entered a space wrapped in greenery.
The Philosopher’s Stone, still in its unfinished form, just needed the sacrifice of a Legendary Mage for the Church to obtain a Division Headquarters that could advance or defend.
A blood profit indeed!
The Paris Division Headquarters almost identical in appearance to Lundan, with blue skies, green lands, mountain ranges, and a large cathedral—it could well have been cast from the same mold.
Isabella was of too low a rank, and to meet the High Priest she had to go through layers of reporting. If the appointment went smoothly, she could be summoned to the High Priest’s office in three days.
Wayne couldn’t possibly wait three days. Using his excellent eloquence, he pushed open the office doors and saw...
No one.
The office was empty. Before a large floor-to-ceiling window, the warmth of the light shone on the desk, while High Priest Sang Lan was in a meeting room.
Wayne sat in the office chair, flippin through the documents on the desk. Isabella stood behind Wayne, not knowing the techniques of massage and care, standing like a javelin, skilled in the roles of hitman, assassin, and bodyguard.
Wayne casually browsed the documents, as if he were at his own home, his gaze eventually rested on a photo frame on the desk, where he saw a picture of Sang Lan.
A thirty-year-old appearance, clad in a white Mage robe, with a straight nose, full lips, deep and clear eyes, elegance and confidence, and the charm of a mature woman.
Sang Lan, the top dog of the Frank District and a Legendary Mage in cultivation, Slyphy’s former leader, and due to the current Holy Maiden being from the Frank District, Sang Lan’s career was promising, with the qualifications to compete for the position of Divine Oracle High Priest at headquarters.
Compared to her, Slyphy had no advantages except for the fact that the Pope was her lover/mother of her son and the Naturalist Knight was her biological son after a full-term pregnancy.
The game was lost!

The office door opened, and in walked a figure dressed in white identical to the one in the photo, pausing briefly upon seeing the state of the office.
Sang Lan, momentarily stunned, silently closed the door. A gentle smile crossed her face as she approached the desk and bowed slightly: "Divine Oracle High Priest, I am honored to meet you here."
A whiff of perfume came over, the mature scent making Wayne feel light-headed as he waved his hand in front of his face: "True to The City of Romance, everywhere I go there’s a scent of perfume."
As he said this, he sniffed around, apparently Isabella didn’t wear any perfume.
Sang Lan looked a bit embarrassed, professionally responding: "Divine Oracle High Priest, are you here at the Paris Division Headquarters for official business or a personal matter? Is there anything I can assist you with?"
"Before that, I have a question I hope the High Priest can clear up for me."
Wayne propped his legs on the desk, leaning back in the office chair, and aimed his nostrils at Sang Lan, puffing air towards her: "Back in March, when my promotion to Divine Oracle High Priest was announced, why is it that come May, the Frank District Church members still don’t recognize me?"
"As a matter of confidentiality, all your information has been sealed. Only myself and four other Priests are privy to this," explained Sang Lan.
An utterly official answer, Wayne found no fault with it. Looking down, he said, "Okay, this answer will suffice, and I won’t pursue it further."
"Thank you for your understanding," replied Sang Lan, her smile unchanged. "Being your first time in Paris, would you like me to arrange a pleasant trip for you?"
"As for the trip, I already have a destination in mind."
Wayne observed Sang Lan, trying to detect any change in her expression: "I want to go to the Underworld Great Tomb, clean up and come with me."
Sang Lan’s face showed a slight change: "The Underworld Great Tomb is the domain of the Death Knight; he is too powerful. I do not recommend you do this."
"What if I insist on going?"
"I, I will arrange a team of attendants for you."
Sang Lan looked ruefully: "As for myself, I’m very sorry, but as the High Priest, I cannot move freely. Even at your request, I must have the Pope’s approval to enter the Underworld Great Tomb."
