Chapter 1160: Chapter 401: Calling Heaven in Vain, Calling Earth to No Avail_4
"Austria Naturalism Church, kill Pope Ludwig... Ross Federation Dark Church, kill Great Sage Cain... Berlin, Prussia, expel the Demon Kings of Wrath and Gluttony..."
Facing Austin, Wayne had nothing to hide, truthfully recounting his recent experiences, including those involving the two Reincarnated Angels.
Of course, he omitted the daily interactions and instead mentioned diligent training.
"It is precisely because I study and train hard every day that I was able to advance to a Legendary Mage. Austin, if only you too would spend more time on meditation instead of focusing on making money and burning down warehouses, you also..."
Wayne paused midway through his encouragement, apologetically saying: "Sorry, I forgot one can’t generalize about everyone’s constitution. I’m a genius, you’re a mediocrity. What I can achieve, you can’t in your lifetime."
Austin’s breathing quickened; it had been two months since he’d last seen this irksome face, and it made him furious enough to consider finding a concrete barrel.
He took a deep breath: "Where is the former Dark Knight, can she still use Twilight Deadlock?"
"Huh, you ask about such a significant matter only secondly, questioning about Knight Vizi first..."
Wayne smiled with a playful air: "What’s wrong, worried that without Twilight Deadlock, you can’t speak firmly at home?"
"Say whatever you want, at the end of the day, I’m the head of the household."
"Not for long."
Wayne took a world map from the desk, pointing to the solid as gold defense line, "Look here, merely one penetration, and Frank’s ultimate defense becomes a mere adornment, followed by a total collapse, allowing Prussia’s iron torrent to flow unhindered into Frank’s hinterland."
"You’ve said that before."
Austin replied, "As you requested, I have officially notified the Frank authorities on behalf of Windsor, they humbly accepted the suggestion and strengthened a defense line here."
Austin pointed to the void behind a forest, drawing a new line of defense with a pencil, aiming not to stop Prussia’s blitz chariots but at least to delay the progress of the army and buy precious time for strategic adjustments.
Previously, Wayne and Austin had made a bet about this strong defense line; if it were breached, Austin would resign voluntarily, making Wayne the head of the household; otherwise, Austin would remain, and Wayne would cease his sarcasm.
Wayne wanted to win, and even more, he wanted to see Frank block Prussia’s million-strong army, therefore, he reminded multiple times and even had Austin speak with Frank’s upper echelon in Windsor’s official capacity.
"Is it feasible?" Wayne looked at the new defense line.
"Depends on the weather..."
Austin shook his head slightly, a temporarily constructed defense line with poor fortifications due to lack of funds, and the stationed troops were not the main force either.
Frank humbly embraced Windsor’s advice and affirmed the century-long friendship between the two sides, but as a sovereign state, Frank had their own strategic plans and wouldn’t make temporary adjustments just because of Windsor’s suggestions.
Moreover, what Windsor could think of, Frank could as well. The military high command wasn’t foolish; the absence of defenses at key passes was a result of thorough strategic contemplation over multiple runs.
"This defense line is most likely not going to hold..."
Wayne sighed and called out to the hallway: "Step-mother, prepare Austin’s room, Veronica and I will move to the master bedroom, and Austin will sleep in the young master’s villa from now on."
Austin, with a dark face, said nothing, waiting for Wayne to finish before saying: "There are scouts at the frontlines, Prussia’s main force is right across the defense line, it can hold."
"Whether it holds or not, we’ll see in a couple of days, I’m tired of arguing with you."
Wayne, looking at the map, focused his gaze on Frank’s capital, Paris, pondering for a moment before saying: "If this line collapses, I need to make a trip to Paris."
"What for?" Austin frowned, knowing that Wayne was wary of the Death Knight.
"To eliminate the threat of Hell Gate before Prussia does, and incidentally..."
Wayne lifted his head, saying earnestly: "Give Death its freedom!"
