Chapter 1159: Chapter 401: Calling Heaven in Vain, Calling Earth to No Avail

"Really?" Slyphy turned back in surprise.

"Yeah, really."

"..."

Slyphy’s expression was odd, although the truth had already been laid out before, the reality in front of her was still somewhat unbelievable, she voiced her doubt: "I know that woman, she’s bad-tempered, paranoid, proud and unreasonable. How on earth did you tame her?"

With the addition of evolution foam, and then by letting it sit for a while, it was done.

It was purely accidental with Saina, just like with Anastasia. Wayne was averse to the former and respectful to the latter. He never intended to provoke either of them, but a series of sheer accidents and coincidences resulted in the current situation.

These words could not be spoken. Wayne hemmed and hawed, implying that when feelings come, you can’t block them, maybe the big sister just likes them younger.

"Her? A big sister? More like an old witch."

Slyphy cleared her throat with a couple of hmphs and said with a clenched fist, "There are some things I shouldn’t say, but if I don’t, it would be inappropriate for others. Although the old witch is a bad person, she is indeed very beautiful. Just take care of yourself, at her age... Just keep an eye out, don’t let her deceive you."

"This student has been instructed."

Wayne, in his capacity as the Divine Oracle High Priest, was giving a shoulder rub to the Regional High Priest, acting as obedient as a son, when the study door was pushed open and Austin came in leading Megan.

"You actually know how to come back!" Austin said coldly.

Wayne: (ŏ_ŏ;)

This isn’t your line, is it?

For the first time, Wayne saw evidence that Veronica was Austin’s biological daughter. After not seeing each other for two months, the opening statement was exactly the same.

"Speak!"

"Eh, Austin, how did you know I became a Legendary Mage?"

"..."x3

Slyphy’s face lit up with joy as she stood up to hold her grown son in her arms, while Megan looked on with joyful eyes, silently congratulating the young master on his further advancement on the path of Magic.

Austin’s face darkened and he staggered back a step, finding Wayne becoming a Legendary Mage harder to stomach than his own fall from the Hexagram realm.

There was no personal grudge, just an unpleasant feeling!

Wayne, on his part, pushed away the increasingly doting Slyphy and pressed her back onto the couch to continue the massage: "Besides, I’ve also become the Divine Oracle High Priest of The Church, and I’ve settled the matters on that side. Teacher Saina has become the New Pope, so the Naturalism Church won’t be muddled with Prussia anymore."

"What about the former Pope? Haven’t heard anything from him, has he been put under house arrest?" asked Austin with a frown.

"Don’t know, he’s probably dead." Wayne blinked.

Hearing this, Austin fell silent, feeling a chill at his neck, sensing that Wayne’s words had an implied meaning.

"The Naturalism Church still has three Divine Oracle High Priests, what is their current stance? Why haven’t they... disappeared? Are you sure there’s no problem on the Church’s side?" Austin pressed on, it was crucial that The Church could not falter.

"Divine Oracle High Priests are all Legendary Mages. What do you have to do with the matters of Legendary Mages as a mere Silver Mage? Acting as if you know it all," Wayne humphed.

"Can’t say that. Some people may look like a simple Silver Mage on the surface but are actually Dark Knights in secret. Scolding the wife at home and disciplining the son outside, pretty impressive, huh?" Slyphy humphed.

"Teacher, who is so arrogant? That’s terrible!"

"Well, I’m not sure about that, since it’s a Dark Knight, I wouldn’t dare to speak or to ask," Slyphy demurred.

"..."

Seeing the two’s sarcastic interplay and hearing Megan’s snickers behind them, Austin’s face grew longer as he started to intensively spin the Ancient Silver Coin in his hand, seeing it as Wayne.

When Wayne was not around, Austin feared for his safety, worried he would not complete his mission successfully, and couldn’t sleep a wink day after day.

Now that the person was back, he almost wished Wayne had perished outside, the world would be rid of a scourge, and the Lando Family could have some peace.

"Good that you’re back..."

Austin grudgingly said, and then added: "Go to my study, I have things to discuss with you, matters of national importance. You’ve led a successful revolt, there are some issues you have to face."

"We can talk in my study too!"

Slyphy snorted coldly, annoyed with the father and son whispering in corners, making her and her daughter-in-law seem superfluous and useless.

If you detest her so much, why did you get a wife in the first place?

Pfft, jerk!

Austin sighed with a headache, not understanding where he had wronged his wife again—if it was the recent late nights and always being with the Queen at work, he had already explained and had been punished for it.

In the last two months, the situation was extremely tense, he had to stay at the office, and there was no way around it.

If anyone is to blame, it’s Wayne. If the purge on the monarch’s side hadn’t been successful, it would have been the Queen who suffered, nothing to do with him.

Megan had just set up a Soundproof Barrier when there was a knock at the door.

Veronica made tea for her mother-in-law, carrying the cup and teapot as she entered.

Seeing the delicate flower that had only been ’poisoned’ by Wayne, Austin had some words he didn’t wish to say in front of her. With a large wave of his hand, he said, "Megan, prepare a welcome-back dinner for the young master."

...

The scene shifts.

Austin’s study.

After dinner, with Slyphy’s resentment for not being promoted slightly abated, she said nothing when she saw her husband and son sneaking off, allowing father and son to reunite in the study.

"What?!"

Wayne stood up in surprise, incredulous, "How did you know I became a Legendary Mage?"

Austin: (눈皿눈)

Enough already, say it once and it’s done. Just a Legendary Mage, would he be envious?

"Strange, you, a mere Silver Mage, shouldn’t know by logic. Which part leaked the information?" Wayne muttered, sitting back down on the sofa.

"Stop fooling around, tell me what happened recently. Why did it take two months?" Austin said expressionlessly.
