Chapter 1147: Chapter 398 One Devil is a Dragon, Two Devils are Worms
The Sacred Dragon, a hundred meters in body length, roared up to the sky, expressing Heya’s deep-seated indignation. She wielded the Heaven Holy Spear, her body wrapped in the Golden Rule, and her silver-white battle attire exuded a strong sci-fi vibe.
In contrast, Gluttony was much plainer, wielding a Dark Long Spear transformed from the Seven Deadly Sins, without any armor encasing his body.
The two figures clashed in combat, with afterimages flickering instantly, shockwaves rolling through the air, and accompanied by the Sacred Dragon’s roar, the surging energies collided fiercely, threatening to collapse the space around them.
Whoosh!
A golden lightning tore through the air, leaving a stretched trail of aurora afterimages.
Wayne flapped his white wings behind him, gripping the Holy Light Greatsword that transformed from his hand, slashing towards the Lord of Wrath’s nape with fiercely burning Holy Flames.
Justice’s backstab!
As if the Lord of Wrath had eyes on the back of his head, he turned around in the heat of the moment, unleashing a sneak attack, his five fingers wrapped around a glossy black weapon, firmly holding the Holy Light Greatsword as it burst open with a cracking snap.
"Who in the world are you? This fighting style doesn’t resemble any of those old friends I’m familiar with."
As he spoke, a terrifying energy erupted from his palm, intense beams of darkness shot out densely like actualized swords, swiftly cutting across the spot where Wayne stood.
The Demon King’s strength was astounding; despite only a portion of his intellect descending and being suppressed by the halo of a protagonist, he was still not to be underestimated.
Wayne inwardly complained of a headache, preferring to stand aside and observe the two Archfiends slaughter each other, stepping in to clear the field only after they settled their fight.
Regrettably, Regina’s status was unknown, and both Demon Kings were formidable opponents. They fought closer towards the volcano as if they needed to see the flesh in front of them before deciding on a life-and-death struggle.
As a villain, the Demon King’s experience was incredibly rich. In comparison, Wayne, the protagonist, was tied hands and feet, being pressured by the Demon King on an unfamiliar track.
Learning from his experiences, he decided he would continue playing the villain in the future. Anyone else was welcome to take the protagonist’s script.
Clang!
Black Dragon Claws tore through space, casting five crimson gleams, extending a kilometer downwards.
Wayne dodged to the side as the Pale Knight logged into his account beneath the human guise, the fake white wings on his back no longer stiff and his Holy Light Greatsword in hand shining brightly.
On the cover of The Book of Greed, the Great Eyeball radiated a holy white light.
Boom!!
Wayne’s speed surged, appearing instantly in front of the Lord of Wrath, who instinctively lifted his claws in defense, seeking to replicate the previous scene, to once again crush the Holy Light Greatsword.
A flash of sword light, two silhouettes crossed each other, a segment of Black Dragon Claws flew into the air, spewing black blood.
At the tip of the severed arm, the enduring Holy Flame suddenly erupted, incinerating the thought-shape dragon claw into ashes.
The Lord of Wrath was greatly surprised; this mysterious Angel was giving it his all, with the Golden Rule robustly vibrant around him, not for show but an actual esteemed figure in Heaven. Yet despite his sensitivity to thoughts, he still couldn’t identify who his opponent was.
It made no sense that after reincarnation, even his soul would change shape... Who exactly was it? Did Heaven have hidden forces?
Sword light approached, and without time to ponder further, the Lord of Wrath, unable to dodge in time, burst open at the chest as Wayne followed through with a claw, gouging out the heart.
Crack!
Wayne crushed the heart, his fist wreathed in Holy Flame, cleansing the sinful mire to nothingness.
Flashes of light ensued, successive sword lights tearing the space apart; within a few breaths, the Lord of Wrath had become a heartless, breathless husk.
The pain in his limbs was secondary; it was the weakening of his intellect that was crucial. With every slash Wayne landed, he swiftly erased the Lord of Wrath’s limbic thought, denying him the time to react.
After several exchanges, the Lord of Wrath thought of retreat.
The battle today was oddly peculiar, from the very start it seemed like a trap set by Heaven specifically for him and Gluttony.
Having just heard Wayne say that the Angelic Army was about to arrive on the scene, he was initially skeptical, but now it seemed a real possibility.
Especially notable was the White Mask on Wayne’s face; it surely held significant meaning, otherwise why would he cover it so thoroughly?
With the situation turned, it was time to cut losses!
The Lord of Wrath shifted his mentality, refraining from summoning more intellect, his form flickered and new limbs grew, black scales surfaced, tearing his garments, as he transformed into a black half-dragon state.
The black half-dragon was two and a half meters tall, with slender limbs, a thick and powerful tail growing from the back, a fierce head with horns, blood-red eyes, and a mouth full of sharp fangs that gaped open, emitting white steam.
Boom!!
A black pillar of light burst from the mouth of the Wrathful, its speed like lightning, the concentrated energy extremely hazardous; after Wayne dodged it, it struck Heya, who was battling fiercely against Gluttony.
The Metal Angel, with her sleek figure, smoked as she fell from the sky, unaware of what transpired.
Wayne silently apologized, his body turning into white light, the Greatsword in his hand directly piercing the chest of Wrath, feeling a slight disappointment from not being able to see his opponent turn into a Giant Dragon and his Dragon-Slayer Sword Technique going underutilized.
"Roar, roar, roar————"
Heya plummeted from the sky, Gluttony, without a second thought, turned tail towards the crater, while Heaven’s Holy Dragon roared, unleashing a searing beam of light, intercepting Gluttony’s path.
At the same moment, Dierda took the vacated spot, barely holding up for a few exchanges. Once Heya was in place, despite being battered and bruised, she continued to glow and heat up, buffing her two teammates.
The field became a chaotic battleground; without realizing, Gluttony and the Lord of Wrath stood back to back, with Wayne in front, Heya behind, a Heaven’s Holy Dragon hovering aloft, and Dierda managing the field in the distance.
Wrath, facing an adverse scenario, didn’t invoke more intellect but instead said in a grave voice, "Gluttony, I’ve had a minor issue with my domain in Hell, so I can’t summon more thought. The path of Evolution is right before us, looks like I’ll have to concede this opportunity to you." His words carried a deep resentment of being at a disadvantage.
I knew you’d say that!
