Chapter 1083: Chapter 382: Subsidiary Gods of Darkness: The Listener, The Avenger, Devourer_2

"Knight Lord!"

Everyone hastily bowed, Ivan bending the lowest, at ninety degrees, his upper body parallel to the ground.

Witnessing Twilight Deadlock firsthand, the higher-ups were even more perplexed, wondering why there were two Dark Knights when it was supposed to be just one.

What exactly is going on today? Is the Dark Knight also under the control of the Naturalism Church?

What does Wayne have that allows him to control both the Holy Maiden and the God-chosen Knight, could he possibly be a Naturalist Knight?

People were full of doubts and could no longer see clearly how the situation was unfolding.

Cain was also full of question marks, surprised and inarticulate: "Impossible, you... Lady Vizi... this can’t be!"

"Great Sage, do you still want to argue now?"

Wayne stepped forward, sneering, "The victims are right here, tell me, you killed the Dark Knight, intending to revive the God of Storms and Thunder, what exactly is your intention?"

The scene erupted into commotion again, everyone looking at each other, unable to keep up with the continuously reversing plot, their heads buzzing.

"Absolutely impossible, she definitely isn’t Lady Vizi, there can’t be two God-chosen Knights in the same era."

Cain shouted loudly, pointing and saying, "Even if she is, the Goddess wouldn’t let people from the Naturalism Church investigate our Dark Church. You must have used magic to control them and then falsely pass off a Divine Decree."

"Why can’t I be Vizi?"

Idinis smiled faintly, asking Wayne, "He seems to know a lot, not a place to talk here, Divine Envoy, can I take him somewhere else for an isolated interrogation?"

The truth was in front of him, Wayne couldn’t wait to settle it all, clutching the Philosopher’s Stone and exerting slight force.

Three shadows flickered, Cain, Idinis, and Wayne disappeared from the conference hall.

"Your Holiness, what exactly is going on, is it really a Divine Decree from the Goddess?" the people stepped forward.

"It indeed is the Goddess’s Divine Decree, commanding me to invite Mister Wayne to Church headquarters to investigate the Great Sage, and also to coordinate secretly with His Holiness the Pope. This matter is of great importance, you’d better not ask too much," Anastasia nodded and said.

"But..."

"Why wouldn’t the Goddess let us investigate on our own, after all, Wayne is an outsider..."

The crowd was greatly disheartened, blaming themselves for their incapability and falling into a panicked abandonment, Anastasia seeing this, consoled, "No one said Mister Wayne is an outsider, he often listens to the Divine Decrees of the Goddess, let this be the end of it, don’t ask and don’t speak of it outside."

So he was an undercover!

Everyone suddenly understood, reasoning through the outcome and imagining more of the truth.

————

Sage’s Great Hall.

The palace of the Great Sage stood far from the conference hall, erected on the dark base of a mountain.

The appearance of the grand hall was ancient and solemn, walls engraved with arcane runes, occasionally pulsing black light, the runes moving about, emitting an ancient mystical aura.

Inside, black pillars were faintly visible, seemingly merging with the ubiquitous darkness, only the crystal ball at the top of the grand hall emitted a faint light, illuminating a bizarre atmosphere.

Pillars arranged on either side, a path leading straight to the end of the grand hall.

On both sides of the path, statues stood silently, they were past Great Sages, or magicians with significant contributions to the Sage’s Great Hall.

Like vassals and servants, quietly waiting for their master’s call.

Unlike the Holy Maiden and Knights, the primary service of the Great Sage is to Subsidiary Gods.

The Dark Goddess has two Subsidiary Gods, representing the function of darkness, one the Listener, the other the Avenger.

At the end of the path, the towering walls, the Dark Goddess shrouded within a Black Robe, her appearance indistinct, her long robe falling into boundless darkness.

To the left and right, statues of the two Subsidiary Gods stood, both in humanoid form with Black Robes, also the main targets of the rituals in the Sage’s Great Hall.

These two divine statues were tall and majestic, their faces blurred and mysterious, as if enveloped by a layer of dark power.

Their eyes dark and profound, like black holes devouring all light, hands joined in prayer, offering their sincerest blessings to their Main God of Darkness.

An invisible wind swept by, carrying an indescribable dark aura, a long, deep voice echoed in the darkness, resembling an extremely ancient incantation, instilling fear and awe in the worshippers, forbidding them to act recklessly here.

Generally, the Divine Decrees communicated by the Great Sage come from the Listener, the Avenger either remains silent, or when he speaks, it heralds war.

The Nature Goddess has a Subsidiary God ’Prophet’, the Goddess of Death has ’Observer’, moving to the Dark Goddess, the Subsidiary Gods were named ’Listener’, a slight difference, roughly the same meaning.

By the way, Nature, Death each have three Subsidiary Gods, Darkness, Sun, Moonlight Goddesses only have two.

"Eh, why is it here?"

Three figures appeared in the hallway, Wayne puzzledly looking at the Philosopher’s Stone in his hand.

According to his intention, far away from the Dark Church Headquarters, he’d pick a small grove for a mixed doubles technique on the Great Sage Cain, first torturing the body, then the mind, arranging him into a torture art form · One Hundred and Eight Styles, surely extracting the truth.

Yet, he closed and opened his eyes, and found himself at the Sage’s Great Hall.

Wayne guessed the reason in a second, frowning at Idinis beside him: "So the truth is in the Sage’s Great Hall, is it?"

"I wanted to ask you the same, why did you bring us here, isn’t the grove nice? It’s secluded, you could have dealt with the Great Sage and then dealt with me."

Idinis, cold as ice, stated disdainfully: "Don’t get too happy, I’m not a woman who falls easily, I will resist."

"Let me clarify, I’m not a person who gets more excited the more you resist," Wayne rolled his eyes.
