Chapter 1032: Chapter 369 Humanity Has Its Limits, Mechanical Becoming a God_3
The cooperation between the Naturalism Church and the Prussian authorities had far exceeded his expectations; to be precise, it was Pope Ludwig who had previously provided substantial assistance, helping Prussia to expand its war potential.
From energy resources to reservists, the combination of magic and machinery sparked wonderful innovation; on a design blueprint, mages and cannons merged into one, the advanced concept exuding a cyberpunk aesthetic.
"Good stuff—if it can be realized, sweeping across the God-chosen Continent is no longer a dream."
Wayne was both shocked and delighted; shocked by the war foundation of Prussia—if the concepts in the blueprint were already a reality, they might be able to breach that impregnable defense line.
Of course, this was based on the premise that the other churches remained on the sidelines.
He was delighted because the design concepts could also be utilized by Wayne; Pale Knights were adept with cold weapons but had never mentioned the transition to using firearms. This line of thought was worth pursuing and opened the door to a new world before his eyes.
Wayne rifled through the documents in the vault, his heart pounding more with each file he read.
"This mentions the Hell Gate, as well as detailed summoning records of the Demon King Containers, and it seems they’ve made notable progress..."
"Converting geothermal energy into mechanical energy, then into electrical energy... that machine just now must be... this pipe is deeply inserted; aren’t they afraid of drilling into Hell’s Gate?"
"Traces of Devil’s Blood..."
"God-chosen Knight theory research and concepts are on hold due to lack of actual items..."
"Magical Aircraft, Super Aerial Fortress, absolute air superiority..."
"Heavy atomic nucleus fission reaction..."
"The world has long suffered from the flesh; humans have their limits, mechanical ascension to godhood..."
"What exactly is divine faith, and what does the corruption of information mean to deities..."
Half an hour later, Wayne put down all the documents, his mind unsettled for a long time.
It was just a single research base, yet its accumulated results made Windsor’s Magic Department seem minor and quite limited in scope.
It wasn’t that Windsor’s research team lacked ability, but rather there was a huge gap in their vision; Windsor’s Legendary Mages were too conservative and selfish, focusing on projects solely for themselves. Prussia was different, every research project there was designed with mass production in mind.
Military use first, then civilian; they raked in the research funds and then continued to reinvest in the military, a never-ending cycle with a continuous stream of finances.
"Not bad, but can this stuff be made available for civilian use?"
Wayne looked over stacks of design blueprints where mages’ flesh and blood were replaced by spears and cannons, merging with aircraft and tanks which was quite preposterous, not to mention integrating battleships and aircraft carriers.
"How are we going to make this available for civilian use, through universal mechanical ascension?"
Wayne couldn’t help but sneer as the image of Lundan being bombed flashed before his eyes; a monster, half man, half fighter jet, split open its chest and targeted Buckingham Palace, launching a "Little Boy."
Boom—the island nation suffered another nuclear attack.
The Queen’s address...
Oh, the Queen had been nuked, and Austin’s address had spread throughout Windsor, leading them all to raise their hands in surrender.
"If all of Prussia’s concept sketches are realized, stuff like Hell’s Gate would seem pretty average." Wayne put back the documents in their place, erased any trace of himself, and took Odilia to the next target.
"Boss, you look terrible."
"Yeah, Prussia has the capability to open Hell’s Gate, and it’s very likely they’ve made contact with a Hell Demon Lord. This news must be sent to the Holy See as soon as possible; even the slightest possibility should not allow Prussia to act recklessly." Wayne’s brows twisted into a furrow.
The known locations of Hell’s Gate were the Paris Underground Catacombs and Lundan, undecided, and now there was an addition of Prussia, with the specific location unknown.
Summoning seven Reincarnated Angels at once seemed excessive to Wayne before, but now it seemed insufficient. Seven wasn’t enough; at least seventy were needed, otherwise, if one gap was plugged another would open, and in the end, all efforts would be in vain.
"Have you found any evidence of the high-ranking clergy of the Naturalism Church cooperating with Prussia?"
"It’s not exactly evidence, just Prussia’s side of the story. Without the account books, no one can be incriminated." Wayne replied.
The documents only mentioned that Pope Ludwig had provided technical aid, without detailing what kind, and it dated back many years; Ludwig could easily come up with an excuse to distance himself from it.
Wayne felt a headache coming on; his investigation target was the Naturalism Church hierarchy, but as he dug deeper, his focus shifted to the audacious Prussia.
Someone was right to say that not everything should be investigated—what if something was found?
Wayne barely started investigating before uncovering so many explosive facts; if he were to dig further...
"Wait, if I could find this, the Papal State being the number one power on the God-chosen Continent surely must know too. The Pope is losing sleep over this every night, frantically searching for Reincarnated Angels, and it’s probably because he knows too much."
After a moment’s contemplation, Wayne decided it was best to warn the Papal State, but he couldn’t always be the one in the front. If there were traitors in the Papal State who passed his intelligence to Hell, the devils would surely find a way to open a gate in Lundan and seek him out.
Thinking it over, it was more reasonable to drop a hint through the official channels of the Naturalism Church. This would inform them about the Hell Gate and also distance the Naturalism Church from Prussia.
What happened in the past is in the past; the previous Pope was despicable, but now is different. Under the leadership of the Naturalist Knight, the New Pope is behaving obediently, working solidly for the welfare of the God-chosen Continent.
"Perfect, that’s the plan!"
Wayne decided on the next steps, prepared to cut through the chaos swiftly. In the following days, he would work overnight, investigating all targets at once, allowing Saina to take the evidence and clean up the corrupt high-ranking officials, then contact the Holy See as the Pope.
As he pondered, he received a message from Regina and turned his gaze toward the city.
