Chapter 1030: Chapter 369 Humanity Has Its Limits, Mechanical Becoming a God
Living Room.
Wayne sat alone on the sofa, flipping through documents and maps, occasionally making marks on the map with a red pen.
The materials had been delivered by Saina and involved dirt on the Pope and three Divine Oracle High Priests - once leaked, the reputation of the entire Naturalism Church’s upper echelons would collapse.
Although their reputation had been mediocre before, a veil of decency always remained; in the eyes of the lay believers, the Pope and the Divine Oracle High Priests were exalted, seen as saints with lofty ideals.
Saina had returned to the headquarters of the Church with the Elemental Mantra, stayed in touch with Wayne’s thoughts, and awaited his next command.
In principle, Naturalist Knights had no right to interfere with the Church, especially since Wayne was only the Chosen Successor, not the sole Naturalist Knight.
But what was forbidden in principle could be maneuvered in practice; Wayne simply didn’t want to set this precedent.
The Church’s senior officials had too much dirty history—just a bit of digging revealed a plethora of scandals. Forcing them out of office wouldn’t require a fight, just plastering the evidence on their faces would do.
If they still refused to be reasonable at that point, Wayne would be ready to roll up his sleeves and show some muscle.
We can have a civilized discussion if you want, but don’t blame me for getting physical if you don’t listen!
In a corner of the living room, the sisters whispered together, not daring to speak loudly.
Because of the halo of the Naturalist Knight, Nelson’s view of Wayne had improved, and she no longer urged her sister to resign and come home to take over the family business.
From a Mage’s perspective, the status of a God-chosen Knight was incomparably lofty. Many people would kneel for the opportunity to work for a Naturalist Knight.
Had it not been for the many beauties around Wayne, and the fact that he flirted with the seductive older sister right in front of his girlfriend, his private life being too chaotic, she would have been willing to let her sister introduce her to him for a job.
"Boss, have you found something?"
Odilia brought over freshly brewed tea, filled Wayne’s cup halfway, and sat beside him to help summarize the data.
Her sitting position was very intimate, more proactive than usual; it seemed she was raring to go.
"This information can’t be used as evidence, and looking at the map won’t reveal anything. I need to go out tonight to gather some substantial evidence," Wayne said without looking up.
Odilia pushed up her glasses and leaned closer to Wayne. The unique fragrance of a young girl wafted around him. Wayne showed no particular reaction, but her face had already turned red.
"Just be confident in yourself, don’t compare yourself with Saina. She’s a Legendary Mage with Dragon Blood, it’s not normal," Wayne glanced at Odilia.

Odilia was slightly dissatisfied. Since their relationship changed, Wayne had always been accommodating and gentlemanly towards her, without any of his previous shamelessness.
Embarrassing as it was, she preferred the bad boy he used to be.
Odilia knew Wayne was taking care of her emotions, but the more he did so, the more distant they became. Gathering her courage, she said, "Boss, I’m not comparing myself with Teacher Saina. I’m your secretary, and Miss Mona is also your secretary. The person I compare myself with is her."
"It’s not the same, you’re also my girlfriend."
Then we should be even closer, what separates me from Regina now?
Odilia blinked her eyes: "Boss, there are too many marks on the map; do I need to go on a mission tonight?"
"Mission!"
Regina ran over quickly: "Boss, do you have any tasks for me?"
Of the fourteen Resentful Spirits summoned in one go, she was the most enthusiastic about her work—disciplined, meticulous, and thorough, dealing with anything that could be finished after hours rather than pushing it off to the next day, fitting Wayne’s stereotype of Prussians.
"I do have a task for you..."
Wayne stroked his chin and pointed on the map: "Check out a few targets in the city district. Be discreet, don’t expose your movements, it’s fine if you don’t find anything, just don’t startle the snake."
"Mission guaranteed to be completed."
"Mm, I’ll buy you a new bag when we get back."
Wayne offered a meaningless promise, then turned to Odilia: "Beauty, are we on for tonight?"
Of course.
Just as Odilia was about to agree, she noticed Regina, full of work enthusiasm, pushed her glasses and said, "Boss, it’s work hours now; please don’t bring personal relationships into this, it makes me very uncomfortable."
Alright, alright, you want to play this game too!
Wayne almost laughed out loud but managed to keep a straight face: "My fault, secretary, you’ll come with me on a mission tonight. Perform well, or I’ll dock your salary."
"Rest assured, I will not disappoint you," Odilia stood up and said.
Regina couldn’t grasp their act – wasn’t Odilia trying to get closer to the boss? Why was she voluntarily creating distance?
Are they breaking up?
Wayne had Regina memorize the points marked in red on the map, left with Odilia first, and before Regina could leave, she was stopped by her sister Nelson.
"Nelson, I need to get to work. You stay at home and wait; I’ll play with you when I get back."
"That’s how you speak to your sister?"
"In the world of magic, there are no sisters, only the strong. You taught me that."
The two stared at each other, Regina shrugged: "The mission is dangerous, I can’t take you with me. Trust me, you know too much today, it’s not friendly to your life safety."
Nelson looked at her sister, whose strength had greatly increased, feeling both envious and proud, then at her own stagnant self, her thoughts complicated, wishing to become the sister who could protect her sibling again.
"Regina, does your current strength have anything to do with your Knight boss?" Nelson asked through gritted teeth.
"Mm, it’s all thanks to him."
Regina was certainly convinced, from food and shelter to life, enhancement, Succubus Form, everything was bestowed by Wayne. She didn’t need to think much, whatever Wayne said, she did, without fault.
