Chapter 1014: Chapter 365: Thought of Something Happy

Living room.

Wayne asked Sarosia to recount her ordeal and confronted Idinis face to face. As a detective encountering a locked-room murder case, he couldn’t help wanting to investigate until the matter was crystal clear.

Sarosia’s encounter wasn’t anything special to speak of. She suffered a defeat in the war of faith, her own laws were taken from her, leaving her extremely weak, and she took refuge in a personal space she had opened up, barely clinging on to life.

Years passed, and Dark Knight Vizi came and kicked in her door. One chased, the other ran; Sarosia, injured and powerless to retaliate, clumsily bolted her doorway.

Under the covers, she shivered and shuddered.

Then, Wayne came knocking. Sarosia had no choice but to possess Wayne rather than vanish entirely.

With this possession, she found herself a leader.

As Sarosia recounted the events, her current loyalty to Wayne was unwavering. Galloping down the path of the zealot, she professed to staunchly defend her bottom lines, yet she might just give in if Wayne so much as beckoned.

She was the passive type, needing a nudge.

Upon hearing this, Idinis’s eyes gleamed darkly, her smile enigmatic, "I’m not clear on the details. My memory has gaps. Perhaps I sent Vizi after Sarosia, or maybe she acted on her own initiative. As for the truth behind her death, I’m even less clear."

Wayne frowned, "As far as I am aware, the God-chosen Knights take turns guarding the Icebound Continent and wouldn’t leave without a Divine Decree. If it wasn’t your command, why did she suddenly go to the Republic of Ireland?"

"I can’t remember," Idinis shrugged.

"Then keep thinking!"

This matter involved the three women present, and Anastasia was no exception. If Vizi hadn’t gone offline unexpectedly, and Austin hadn’t been reluctant to return, Anastasia wouldn’t have had to fill in as the Dark Knight, nor would she have lost her physical body and endured over a decade of tortuous thinking.

"Vizi obviously went directly for Sarosia. It was clear she was targeting her specifically, not a chance encounter. You know where she’s always been living; it must have been at your behest," theorized Wayne.

"No, I only found out about it afterward."

Idinis shook her head, noticing the Knight’s death and manipulating a few things, it was only then that the newly appointed Dark Knight Austin was granted the Twilight Deadlock, and at that moment, Sarosia’s location was revealed.

At that time, the main goal of the Dark Goddess on the Mortal World centered around the Ancient God’s Kin Torgoguryr, not showing much interest in Sarosia. Only after seeing the potential in Wayne did she think to train this old friend.

Sarosia was just a pastime for the Dark Goddess; she wouldn’t specifically send a Dark Knight over just to kick down her door.

"And now you remember?"

"Uh-huh, those memories weren’t deleted," Idinis blinked.

Wayne was certain she had been corrupted, obeying whatever pose he demanded, yet Idinis’s behavior occasionally made him doubt.

Was it possible that the Dark Goddess had found a new avatar, occasionally taking a stroll inside Idinis?

Wayne frowned in silence. If the head inspector could manifest herself, why not take back that part of the consciousness? What good does it do her to let it show off its stupidity?

Every sadist has a masochistic heart. So, she presented herself for others to train?

The more Wayne thought about it, the more absurd it seemed, the Dark Goddess’s motives completely eluding him.

Idinis began slowly, "Although I don’t know what I was thinking at the time, I certainly must have known about Vizi’s death. The force behind killing a God-chosen Knight on God-chosen Continent is not to be underestimated. I couldn’t have just let it slide without investigation."

"Contact the Dark Goddess and have her clarify?"

"That would be the fastest approach, but I definitely won’t tell you. My personality is too terrible," Idinis assessed herself.

After speaking, she changed her tone, "There’s another possibility that Vizi didn’t really die. Her consciousness might have gone elsewhere, no longer my God-chosen Knight in the Mortal World."

The more she talked, the more confused it became. Wayne waved his hands dismissively and said to Sarosia, "I’ll leave the investigation to you. Vizi’s death may be related to the Storm and Thunder Lord, combining two issues into one. There’s plenty of time; take it slow, no rush."

Wayne’s current priority was to grow stronger. Although the case tempted him, he would not get involved personally; he left it to his new subordinates, ostensibly to prove themselves.

"Rest assured, I will not disappoint you."

Sarosia nodded firmly, receiving a hint from her leader. If Wayne said Vizi’s death was related to the Storm and Thunder Lord, it was definitely so. Finding the Storm and Thunder Lord would lead to the truth.

"Wow, so quick to change your terms of address. Such obedience!" sneered Idinis.

Sarosia pretended not to hear, adamant in following Wayne’s orders, treating the stranger as if she were thin air. She continued, "Boss, through the Obelisk, I can sense that the Storm and Thunder Lord is on the God-chosen Continent..."

While speaking, she pointed northeast, where she felt the presence of an Obelisk.

Anastasia uttered a light exclamation, looking in the direction Sarosia pointed to. It was very likely the Ross Federation, where Dark Church Headquarters was located.

Following Wayne’s recent speculation, if Vizi’s death was related to the Storm and Thunder Lord, wouldn’t that imply that the Dark Church was also implicated?

"Suddenly, things got interesting," Idinis murmured with a smile in her eyes.

"You, as a Dark Goddess, how can you be happy to see your own church infiltrated by heretics?" retorted Wayne.

"Who knows, maybe I know everything and have been waiting for this drama to unfold."

"..."x3

True to form, you couldn’t care less about the life or death of the Dark Church.

Wayne was puzzled. Considering the Dark Goddess’s concern for the Icebound Continent, she was the Goddess who cared most about the God-chosen Continent. Yet the abysmal personality she displayed was completely disconnected from her actions.
