Chapter 1002: Chapter 362: Pertinent, Objective, and to the Point

November 22.

Wayne Manor, backyard.

Viley practiced the Dragon-Slayer Sword Technique on the lawn of the backyard garden while the Knight Teacher, Valkyrie, stood by. Seeing Knight Apprentice Viley practicing her swordsmanship diligently, the teacher nodded in satisfaction.

Yet Viley’s academic performance was far from ideal.

It had nothing to do with her aptitude. Her attention was easily distracted, she liked to be smart in small ways, and she would slack off whenever she got the chance.

Every time she was caught, she tried to get by with cuteness.

If it had been another teacher, they might have been fooled by her, but not Valkyrie. With a tap from her hand, she ignited Viley’s enthusiasm for learning.

The reason was simple: the previous one to use a hand chop on Viley was Veronica. The brutal Evil Dragon descended from the sky, claws bared and breath ablaze, kidnapping the Princess.

And he even shared the spoils with the allies of the Moonlight Church.

Nothing was more intolerable than the rage of having one’s wife stolen!

Nothing more to say, just practice the Dragon-Slayer Sword Technique, kill the Evil Dragon, and rescue the Princess.

It had been about a week since Wayne entered the Inverted World. The witness, Mona, didn’t publicize the event but instead informed Austin. He then set up a technical team to study the Spatial Projection Barrier of the Magical Department Headquarters, attempting to find a way to enter and exit the Inverted World.

Their research was based in the countryside of Lundan, where Wayne had disappeared. There were complex spatial fluctuations there, once a passage to the Inverted World.

Mona didn’t notify anyone else. If asked, she said she was on a mission, conducting research, or out wooing women—very much in line with Wayne’s usual style.

A week was neither long nor short, and with Austin’s testimony, no one doubted Mona was lying.

"Ha!"

"Evil Dragon, take my sword!"

"Ha!"

"I’ll take your head!"

Wayne quickly arrived at the backyard and, leaning against a large tree, watched Viley practicing her moves with a slight smile on his face.

It was calm in the Outer World everywhere bathed in warm sunlight, which relaxed his tense heartstrings.

Everyone looked cheerful, even the vile face of Austin, the big landlord, the Noble, the capitalist, had lost its usual sharpness and become friendly.

This was the world where people belonged!

After returning to the Outer World, Dreyne temporarily parted ways with Wayne. She had to submit her mission report and deliver the Treasure Vase to the Divine Nation, particularly to inform the Moonlight Goddess of the monsters from the Inverted World.

The existence of an unknown powerful being in the Inverted World—who he was, his relation to the destruction and reset of the Inverted World, and whether there were any grand schemes to destroy the world—each question was incredibly important.

Before she left, Dreyne said she would return and asked Wayne to introduce her to William so they could exchange card techniques.

It’s easy to acquire wealth but hard to find a true friend.

As a fellow card enthusiast, Dreyne deeply appreciated William for his optimistic and upbeat nature.

Of course, Philomena’s performance wasn’t bad either. She had recaptured a lot of face for the Moonlight Church at the last moment. Dreyne was also quite pleased with her.

Calling up Wayne to join them would make for a perfect gathering at a card table.

After the ordeal in the Inverted World, Wayne was physically and mentally exhausted and just wanted to go home to recuperate. After saying goodbye to Dreyne, he headed straight for Wayne Manor.

On the way, he contacted Mona through a mental link, indicating that he had returned and telling her not to worry about searching for him anymore.

The Inverted World was a mirror to the Outer World, only capable of projection, unable to manifest into reality. People from the Inverted World couldn’t enter the Outer World, and objects from the Inverted World couldn’t be brought out.

The five Divine Artifacts were impossible, the camera he had put so much effort into was gone, and even the testimonials had disappeared, adding a bitter taste to Wayne’s grief, devoid of any keepsakes for memory—it was truly painful.

Fortunately, everyone in the Outer World was there. The intense emotions that pressured his heart had somewhere to go; otherwise, he might have slipped into depression.

"Hey, Wayne, back from wooing the ladies?"

Viley noticed Wayne and, looking at Valkyrie and receiving permission from the Knight Teacher, took a five-minute break.

She approached with her ponytails swaying and said with a mischievous smile, "Let’s get one thing clear, Wayne Manor isn’t a place where just anybody can enter. Who is that girl that made you disappear for so long? Introduce me, and I’ll vet her."

"I didn’t go out wooing ladies..."

"Mister Lando said so!"

"Well, he’s a dead man."

Wayne’s tone was gentle as he raised his hand to pat Viley’s head, with a hint of moisture in his eyes.

This greatly surprised Viley, who asked what had happened in the past few days that even his persona seemed to have changed.

Wayne didn’t want to mention William in front of Viley; the latter had lost everything, which was simply too heartbreaking. There was no reason to let Viley share in his misery.

But not speaking about it was truly stifling.

He hesitated for a moment and then decided to express himself through action!

"Nice ponytails. They make one want to ride like the wind..."

"Eh?!"

"Elbow, come into the house with me."

Wayne took away Viley’s Knight’s Sword and planted it into the ground. Amid Valkyrie’s stunned gaze, he dragged Viley straight towards the main house.

"Eh?!"

Viley took a few steps before realizing what was happening and quickly pleaded, "Wayne, don’t do this. Whatever it is, we can talk about it. I’m scared."

Something must have happened these past few days for Wayne to be pulling her into the house during the day and in front of Valkyrie.

"Viley, I missed you."

"..."

What seemed like a plain sentence, lacking the extravagance of usual sweet nothings, carried a longing and affection far beyond hollow words of love.

Viley was struck to the core, rendered speechless on the spot.

Moments later, a Soundproof Barrier was erected in the main bedroom, leaving Valkyrie with a head full of black lines.

They were supposed to have only five minutes; they couldn’t delay for too long.
