Chapter 38: Elven Spirit King
Chapter 38: Elven Spirit King
Before Kai, a being completely made out of wind appeared. It was the Elven Spirit King.
It was so oppressive and massive that Kai couldn’t move, frozen as he could only admire its might. The Elven Spirit King was basically a huge mass of wind that formed a figure. However, it was obviously much more than that, since his summoning forced everyone into a state of unconsciousness.
As the Spirit King locked its gaze onto Kai, something within him seemed to react. His core seemed to strongly respond to this presence.
However, it wasn’t Isla. It was clearly something else, but Kai couldn’t tell what it was. All he knew was that his Monster Energy was being drained in the presence of this Spirit...
"Boy, don’t panic." The Spirit King muttered as it realized what was going through Kai’s mind. "I simply want to talk. I attacked you by instinct earlier since I felt such dark energy coming from you. However, I quickly realized that you aren’t an enemy; you are lost."
Kai stood frozen on the ground as the energy within his Core kept being drained at a fast rate, weakening his being. If nothing was done, his Monster Core would be drained in five minutes at most. Still, he tried to act as if everything was normal, maintaining a composed appearance.
"I see... and why did you want to talk to me?" Kai asked, calmly.
"It was actually related to the person hiding inside you." The Spirit King smiled knowingly. "As far as I knew, all fairies had been exterminated. So, for one to be alive even now, I’m wondering how such a thing is possible."
At those words, Isla came out on her own, knowing that it wasn’t a good idea to defy the orders of the one before them.
While the Elven Spirit might seem nice at the moment, she knew that the moment she showed the slightest hostility... it could very much be their demise. Still, as Isla came out, she prayed that the Spirit King wouldn’t recognize her for who she really was.
She didn’t think that he would kill her, but even then, it was best to be safe. Isla had no idea what kind of deal the Spirits had made with the humans.
After all, the Elven Spirit King was currently bound to the Elven King, who was extremely weak for such a powerful being.
"Hm... I really didn’t hallucinate," the Spirit muttered quietly. "Interesting. Have you regained your powers?"
"My fairy powers?" Isla asked.
The Spirit squinted his eyes. "Hm... yes. Do you have your powers?"
"No, I cannot use any of the fairy powers."
The Elven Spirit King frowned as he pushed out a very loud sigh of disappointment.
"You cannot use any of their powers? Why? What happened?"
For some reason, it seemed the fairy’s unique power was very important to the Spirit. Kai had no idea why since he had no idea what fairies were even capable of in the first place. Isla had never mentioned it, and they were forgotten.
Still, as Kai’s mind was going in all kinds of directions, Isla kept her cool in front of the spirit, clearly used to such situations.
"I do not know. Ever since I was born, I was never able to use their powers. After all, I had no one to show me the way," Isla replied as she also squinted her eyes. "Why? Were you looking for lost memories?"
Wind suddenly burst forward, overwhelming the throne, making both Kai and Isla fly back because of the pressure released by the Elven Spirit King.
They flew backward at very high speed, and if this continued, they would ram into the wall behind them. But just as they were about to, they froze in the air.
"Sorry, I got a bit agitated. I had a few bad memories... never mind." He shook his head. "It’s a pity you don’t have your powers."
"Did you lose some of your memories?" Isla asked again.
As she did so, Kai understood that the fairies’ power was related to memories. It simply had to be. Otherwise, she wouldn’t dare say such things.
And it seemed that Isla had hit the nail on the head, as the Elven Spirit King completely fell silent, not saying another word.
"Hm... no point in talking about it if you can’t do anything. Once you reach the second realm, you should go to the hidden village. You should find information about your race and powers; you might learn a thing or two."
"The hidden village? What is that?"
"Hm... all I have is rumors. But it’s said to be the place where the last fairy was seen before being killed by the Order."
Isla’s frown only continued to accentuate. "The Order? What is that?"
The Spirit King stopped talking as he began to carefully observe Isla, his eyes moving up and down very slowly. He frowned for a moment and suddenly flew closer to Isla, who was extremely small.
"You..." He frowned. "Haven’t we met each other before?"
"Uh... no?"
"Your face... it’s as if I have a feeling of déjà vu."
He spent a few more seconds scrutinizing Isla before moving back and muttering, "must be a coincidence."
"Well, it’s a pity that you cannot use the powers of the fairies. Seems like this discussion was a bit pointless then. Sorry for wasting your time, and remember to visit the Hidden Village once you reach the second realm."
As he uttered those words, a strong gush of wind took over the throne room, and the Elven Spirit King disappeared at once. Within seconds, every single elf woke up from their state of unconsciousness.
The Elven King seemed confused over what had just happened. However, he quickly understood and said, "Hm... seems like the conversation already happened. Time for your wish. What do you wish for, young dragon?"
The Elven King locked his heavy gaze into Kai’s, who was currently thinking about what he needed at the moment.
’Skills, knowledge, pets?’ Kai questioned himself.
