Chapter 37: One Single Wish
"Galor, my son! Where have you been?!" A beautiful lady muttered as she opened her arms as wide as she could, hugging the elf Kai had saved. "You’re bleeding so much; let Mommy heal you!"
Galor’s mother hugged him so tightly that the elf was having trouble breathing normally. His face was stuck in his mother’s chest, trying his best to breathe in and out.
"M-Mom... you’re suffocating me..."
Kai watched this from far away with an innocent gaze and a somewhat jealous expression.
Receiving love from your own parents—that was something that Kai had not once experienced in his life...
Nevertheless, he dismissed those negative thoughts as he continued to stare at the beautiful elf.
She also had long blonde hair and pointy ears, which seemed to be a common factor among elves. However, what truly set her apart was the clothes she wore, which screamed royalty, and her perfect body. Kai hadn’t seen many women in his life, losing sight at an early age, but he knew... this woman was truly beautiful.
Her body was simply perfect, with fat in the right places. And it seemed that all elves were in agreement, as most of them were blushing just staring at Galor’s mother.
"Layla... calm down; we must show a bit of dignity in front of our people," a man intervened as he placed his hand softly on the woman’s back.
The man wore a crown on the top of his head. He was the Elven King.
Even without the crown, Kai would have noticed his importance because of the aura he was exuding. It was overwhelming. With a glance, Kai could tell that this man was a leader of overwhelming strength. There was no chance that he could beat him in a fight; he would get destroyed in a moment’s notice.
"Son, who did this to you?" the man muttered as he glanced in Kai’s direction while uttering those words.
"Ratbos... a ton of them. They were about to kill me until this dragon intervened," Galor replied, pointing in my direction.
Instantly, the look of hostility in the Elven King’s eyes disappeared and was replaced by appreciation. However, while he seemed grateful, with a soft glint appearing in his eyes, he was definitely still wary and curious.
"Hm... a Nocturne Dragon helping an elf in need. The last time that happened must have been hundreds of years ago," the man spoke with a slight frown. "Tell me, why did you help my son? What did you want out of it?"
’Isla? Why is it that I can understand when he’s talking but not the others?’ Kai asked right away, as he could finally make sense of the words coming out of an elf’s mouth.
Isla giggled. ’Because he’s speaking the dragon tongue at the moment.’
Kai looked around and noticed that everyone seemed extremely confused by the words uttered by their leader. They couldn’t comprehend him at all.
"I saw someone in danger and helped him; that’s all," Kai replied, telling the truth.
He could see in the eyes of the Elven King that if he lied... that man would know instantly. It was much better to tell the truth at the moment.
"Is that so? And why were you in the same cave as him? What were you looking for?" The Elven King continued to be extremely suspicious of Kai’s actions. "Why would a Nocturne Dragon ever enter the territory of the Blue Dragons? It makes no sense."
Kai frowned slightly, shutting his mouth for a short moment as he observed the look on the Elven King’s face.
He really was suspicious of him, asking all kinds of questions. However, there was one thing that Kai did not want to reveal, and that was the fact that he had gotten attacked by the Spirit King. It had to be avoided at all costs.
"It was by a stroke of luck that I arrived in that cave. As to why I was inside the territory of the Blue Dragons? I was looking for stronger monsters."
Kai answered the truth once more, but simply hid some facts that could be quite important, just like any smart person would.
The King closed his eyes momentarily for a few seconds, nodding his head slowly. Then, he opened his eyes again.
"Hm. I see..."
The Elven King turned around, his heavy gaze no longer on Kai, who could now breathe again.
"Son, let’s get a healer to patch you up," the King said right away. "As for you, young dragon, I will grant you one single wish."
Murmurs immediately began echoing within the throne room from elven nobles who couldn’t believe what they had just heard.
"A wish from the king?"
"Has he gone mad?"
"He received so little for beating up a few Ratbos?"
They were all losing their minds over the value of the reward the dragon had just received.
"However, before you receive this gift, someone would like to have a short discussion with you," the King uttered, making everyone shut their mouths.
Kai frowned. "And who is that someone?"
"The Elven Spirit King. He seems to be strangely interested in you. It’s the first time that something like this has happened, so be honored to receive such attention."
Kai’s eyes immediately widened, unconsciously walking backward. He tried to keep his calm, but his anxiety showed for everyone inside the room, including the King.
"No need to be scared. He won’t hurt you."
’What the hell are you talking about! He already tried to kill me!’
Kai wanted to shout that for everyone to hear, but he kept it to himself.
’Isla, what do you think? Should I accept this deal?’ Kai asked. ’Isn’t this way too dangerous of a risk? What if he tries to kill us again?’
Isla started giggling again from the inside of Kai’s Monster Core.
’If he wanted you dead, you would be dead. Maybe that attack was simply a test earlier. Otherwise, we certainly wouldn’t have escaped so easily. Also, if you can create a good relationship with him, that would definitely be a good thing for the future. Spirits are very powerful allies, and it would be best not to anger a very powerful one.’
"I accept."
As Kai uttered those words, a strong wind suddenly blew all over the throne room, knocking out everyone present except for Kai and Isla, who was cooped up inside his core.
