My World to Free-use
080: An unwanted woman

Chapter 80

Having lived so many lives, there was one thing one learned after many, many eventful lessons.

Never stick your nose where it doesn’t belong.

Following the same logic, whatever was going on with the mana absorption thing, I ignored it. If it were something that concerned me in the future, it would come up anyway. Besides, I would be too strong by then.

Instead, I chose to focus on the current incident at hand. And it was nothing but to create a blood crystal. But I just couldn’t give away my life force every time now, could I?

So, while everyone was focused on something else, I decided to focus on something else. To be more precise, on this…

[An unwanted woman]

[Rank: B]

[Description: In life, there come things that are beautiful but full of thorns

The same goes for a beauty that has no use for the user

Would it not be better to facilitate the growth of the user through such beauty, then?]

[Task: Kill Alena Monroe]

[Reward: 1.5 EXP]

[Punishment: ???]

[Duration: One week]

This was a quest I had received the day before yesterday when I encountered the knightess who was with Ruuthaven. She was a beauty, I tell you. A muscular, threatening beauty. The kind that turns you on quite a bit.

But…

There are traces of battle, my lord.” I saw the very same woman following clues that were hidden from others’ eyes. Although I had done everything to the best of my ability, given the lack of time, I couldn’t just solve everything. Footprints, the Lord’s previous camps, and many more still remained, which I was sure would be blamed on animals or monsters, but from the looks of it, the woman was quite close to them.

Finding the clues.

Of course, tracing them back to me would be impossible. No one would be able to find me unless they had an ability to do so, but seeing past events was difficult even for me, given that it required spells of the time element, and I didn’t think there were any in this backwater world, let alone this even more backwater nation.

No, the only thing that I was worried about was the attraction of the attention or the King's guard and such. If the government, which in this case was the royal court, got involved, which was already a headache thanks to Carlson, I would have to focus a lot on hiding myself rather than growing, so it was always better to nip such problems in the bud before they sprouted.

But ultimately, I would be an idiot to ignore such a quest that granted me so much more EXP than normal.

Beauty was tempting, of course, but it wasn’t as important as being able to become someone who no other beauty could defy.

I followed the party for quite some time before the sun began to set. Once the dark began to take over, I properly utilized my skills.

Due to the lack of mana, there were many skills I couldn’t use at the moment, nor could I use some skills to their full potential. But I had the biggest weapon no other person in the world had.

An overpowered shop.

Just this would have been enough of a golden finger for me, but it was nothing more than a part of the system.

Anyway…

[Basilisk’s mist]

[Rank: C]

[Description: A venom that is extracted from a baby Basilisk while their fangs are still young and destructible

Later, it is turned into a paralytic mist that has a minor chance of killing those who breathe it in

Be careful, though, as it does not have the ability to recognize who the wielder and the victim are]

[Effect(s):

#1: 70% chance of paralyzing anyone who breathes it in

#2: 1% chance of killing the breather]

[Duration: 2 minutes]

[Cost: 1,000 SC]

A very simple and practical weapon. It wasn’t very advantageous because it didn’t have a long-lasting effect, and if one wasn’t terribly unlucky to die at its hand, the victims would incur no permanent side effects as long as the paralysis wore off.

The risk was, however, the minus thirty percent chance of it not working.

And as my shitty luck had it…

So it was you.” The female knightess before me said.

She stood before me with her sword brandished, behind her was her fatso lord, whom I was just about to kill, but the fucker was saved by her, who wasn’t affected by the poison. When I released the mist, I was quick enough to deal with others, and the baron should have been the same had the knightess not managed to get there before me.

That’s a surprise,” I said as I took off the mask that deceived one’s perception and senses. That was all the more reason why the others couldn’t see me coming, but she could.

She wasn’t just strong. She was terribly talented as well. And now I had a strong reason that the system wanted her dead was something else. Well, the system was a mysterious existence that went against the extraterrestrial existences of any of the worlds I had been to, but always was in my favor, so I never questioned it after the first time.

As for why it wanted this woman dead, I had no idea, nor did I care.

A sword appeared in my hand, which she saw and asked, “I don’t suppose you will just walk away.”

I remained silent. Never talk before an enemy unless it is to stall for time. I never needed that time. She did.

[Strength: 150]

[Agility: 150]

[Stamina: 200]

[Intelligence: 220]

[Charm: 9]

[Bonus stats: 135]

[EXP 9840\17500]

[Level 175]

[Strength: 200]

[Agility: 200]

[Stamina: 200]

[Intelligence: 250]

[Charm: 9]

[Bonus stats: 5]

After killing the lord and many low-level scrubs, my level was raised quite a bit, and the stats gain was 135, which I was able to utilize properly. I wanted to increase my stamina once again, but I decided to show my other stats some love. Besides, now I needed to work on my charm as well. There were many skills that required charm, so that was no longer a useless stat.

As for this one…

[MP: 2500/2500]

It was more than enough.

[Celestial demon sword art]

[Currently unlocked moves: 1]

[Star pierce]

Celestial Demon Sword Art was a sword technique I developed on my own for myself. It was a technique made for just me and only me, and while others could learn it, they couldn’t utilize it like I could because of the system.

The current move was only one, but it was enough to deal with her.

We assumed our positions and, without a delay, both of us charged at each other.

Clang!

Our swords clashed, and I moved my sword to slide across hers, but she was quick to parry my next strike, which was a surprise. Still, surprises were my specialty.

[Reinforcement]

[Current unlocked effect: +10% all stats]

[MP -1000]

It took a massive chunk of my MP, but it also gave me a massive benefit. It didn’t just increase my physical stats; my attack power, attack penetration, sharpness, and defense all fell under the stats parameter.

With my stats as they were, she was pushed back quite soon. She parried a few of my attacks while she deflected and dodged the rest. After exchanging swords with me ten times, she understood that my sword was too heavy for her.

Given my physique was almost half her size, it must have come as a surprise to her. She was visibly being pushed back.

De-defeat him at all costs! I shall bring back reinforcements!” She was doing amazing until one certain fatso regained control of his body and shouted while running away, distracting her.

She was the only one distracted, though, because I never cared for the lord. All those who could run were dead, and even then, they wouldn’t have been able to outrun me. Why would I have worried about a guy who would be panting after running half a kilometer, which was a stretch?

With that in mind, my focus was solely on her, and as soon as she faltered…

[Star Pierece]

[MP -1000]

Mana coagulated at the base of my sword starlight that once I stabbed forward in the manner of a spear pierce but only with a sword…

Muffled Boom!!

The beam of light formed at the base traveled through the tip and emerged from the other side of the knightess, not only killing her but destroying quite a lot of area behind her, leaving a trail dug through the ground.

She was still alive, with a hole in her stomach, her mouth bleeding as I looked at her, my eyes showing no emotion as I simply said, “My move required significant concentration time. Had it not been for your lord, you would have been able to dodge it. Pity, right?”

Those were the last words she ever heard, her eyes displaying slight regret for serving such a dumbass guy.

~~

You guys may be disappointed by the battle scene but that is not what the novel is about, right?
