My Vampire Beloved Husband -
Chapter 95: Hidden Paradise
Chapter 95: Hidden Paradise
Zylan felt speechless. He stood frozen, his body stiff as if locked in place by an invisible force. Naomi’s actions had stunned him to the core, leaving him teetering between disbelief and suprise.
How had she managed to do this to him again? He couldn’t tell how long he’d been standing there, paralyzed, his mind caught in an endless loop of trying to process her behavior.
It felt as though she had turned him into a machine—one she could switch on and off at will. Each time he thought he had regained control, she’d surprise him, leaving him defenseless once more.
His gaze shifted to her, his steely resolve melting under the weight of her expression. Naomi puffed out her cheeks like a child, her golden eyes wide and shimmering with mischief. The way she blinked up at him, pleading silently, was maddening. How could someone look so innocent and infuriating at the same time?
Zylan let out a sigh, his shoulders relaxing slightly as he finally found his voice. "Eaglet, this is no joke," he said, his tone slow and deliberate, though his voice betrayed the faintest tremor of amusement.
Naomi straightened her face, her lips pressing into a firm line as she nodded. "I’m very aware of that," she replied with feigned seriousness, but Zylan wasn’t fooled. Her eyes sparkled with barely contained laughter, and she bit her lower lip in a poor attempt to hold it back.
He narrowed his eyes, torn between scolding her and laughing along. She looked like a kitten waiting for a treat, her wide-eyed innocence impossible to ignore. And yet, beneath her adorable antics, he sensed the underlying thrill she always seemed to carry—an energy that left him disarmed, time and time again.
"Naomi..." he began, his voice dropping lower, but she didn’t let him finish.
She wrapped her legs and arms tighter around him, her head nestling against his shoulder. "Don’t forget to use your vampiric speed," she whispered, her voice brimming with excitement.
Zylan blinked, momentarily stunned. His grip on her tightened instinctively as he tried to process her words. This woman... she wasn’t just unbothered by the revelation of his true nature—she was excited. Thrilled, even. How could she act like this after learning that he wasn’t human?
He stared at her, his expression unreadable as conflicting emotions churned within him. Damn it, this eaglet always had her way of catching him off guard.
Before he could formulate a response, she shifted against him, her movements subtle but insistent. She didn’t have to say it aloud—her body language spoke volumes. Why haven’t you moved yet?
"Naomi..." he began again, but she cut him off with a soft, impatient hum.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak, he moved.
The world blurred around them as Zylan launched forward, his speed so breathtaking that Naomi gasped. Her head lifted instinctively, her golden-blonde hair whipping back as the air rushed past them. The surroundings became streaks of motion, a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes that only heightened her exhilaration.
Her gasp turned into laughter—light and carefree, untainted by fear. She loved every second of it, the rush of speed, the thrill of being held securely in Zylan’s arms.
Zylan glanced down at her, his lips twitching into a faint smile despite himself. She was unlike anyone he’d ever met. Most would have been terrified by his inhuman abilities, but Naomi? She embraced them with unrestrained joy.
And just as suddenly as he started, he stopped.
Naomi’s laughter ceased as she blinked, her head tilting in confusion. She pulled away slightly, her eyes scanning their new surroundings.
"Why did we stop?" she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
It wasn’t until she looked around that she realized where they were. Her confusion deepened as she took in the unfamiliar sight.
This part of the mansion... She hadn’t been here before. Or had she? Her brow furrowed as fragments of memory surfaced. During her attempted escape, she’d thought she’d reached the back gate. But now, standing here, she realized she’d only been at the side gate.
The real back of the mansion loomed before her—a towering wall of solid stone with no visible exit.
"Where...?" she began, but her words trailed off as Zylan started walking toward the wall, still holding her effortlessly in his arms.
Her curiosity grew as they approached the imposing structure. Finally, he stopped a few steps away and shifted his grip slightly, ensuring she was secure.
"Do you want to see something?" he asked, his voice soft but laced with intrigue. "Something special... something unique?"
Naomi’s heart raced at his words, her curiosity sparking like a flame. She nodded eagerly, her golden eyes wide with anticipation.
Zylan’s lips curved into a faint smile. Without another word, he stepped closer to the wall and pressed his palm against its surface.
Naomi watched in awe as a square section of the wall sank inward with a soft click. She barely had time to process what was happening before Zylan placed four fingers against the recessed panel, as if scanning his fingerprints.
The wall responded instantly. Its smooth surface shifted, moving with a quiet, mechanical precision that seemed almost otherworldly.
Naomi’s breath hitched as she took it all in. This wasn’t just a hidden door—it was something far more advanced, a seamless blend of technology and mystery that made her heart race.
When the wall finally opened, revealing what lay beyond, Naomi froze.
Her mouth fell open, her golden eyes widening as the breathtaking scene unfolded before her.
A majestic waterfall cascaded down in front of her, its shimmering waters catching the golden rays of the afternoon sun. The gentle roar of the water as it hit the pool below filled the air with a soothing rhythm, creating an atmosphere that felt like a dream.
Smooth, polished rocks of varying sizes framed the waterfall, their surfaces glistening with droplets of water. Lush greenery surrounded the area, the leaves swaying gently in the breeze.
It was unlike anything Naomi had ever imagined—more enchanting than any fairy tale, more surreal than the wildest of dreams.
She couldn’t tear her gaze away, mesmerized by the way the sunlight made the cascading water sparkle like liquid gold. The cool mist carried by the breeze kissed her skin, tugging lightly at her golden-blonde hair.
"Zylan..." she whispered, her voice barely audible.
He watched her, his dark eyes filled with quiet satisfaction. He didn’t say anything at first, simply observing her reaction as she took in the hidden paradise.
"I see you like it," he said finally, his deep voice breaking the silence.
Naomi turned to him, her expression a mixture of disbelief and awe. "Like it? No, dear—that’s an understatement. I love it. This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen."
Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke, her gaze returning to the magical scene before her. For a moment, she forgot about everything else—forgot where she was, forgot the man holding her. All that existed was the waterfall and its ethereal beauty.
Zylan’s jaw tightened as he noticed her shift in focus. A faint scowl darkened his features as he realized she was no longer paying attention to him.
It wasn’t that he minded her admiration of the waterfall—it was, indeed, beautiful. But it stung in a way he couldn’t quite explain, this sudden attention to the waterfall rather than him. She had been so focused on him just moments before, and now she was lost to the beauty of the hidden paradise he had shown her.
She hadn’t looked at him for several moments, completely entranced by the cascading water, but her soft nod made him feel a little better.
Zylan had brought her to a secluded part of his world, away from the mansion’s walls that usually separated them from everything else. This was a part of him—something hidden, something real, and it wasn’t for anyone but him. And yet, here she was, a world away in her thoughts, completely absorbed in the nature he’d chosen to share.
"You can drop me now. I need—" Naomi began, but Zylan cut her off before she could finish.
"No," he said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Naomi blinked, startled by his sudden change in mood. "But—" she started again, her words soft, almost pleading.
"You’re barefoot," he added quickly, though even to himself, the excuse sounded weak. His usual sharp instincts were clouded by something he hadn’t anticipated—his annoyance at the way she was behaving. The way she had forgotten him so easily, as if he were just another part of the background to the waterfall.
Her fascination with the waterfall had crossed some unspoken line in him. The waterfall was magnificent, yes—but wasn’t he, too, something extraordinary to her?
Naomi tilted her head, a subtle frown knitting her brows together as she turned her attention back to him. Confusion flickered across her face. What had caused this sudden shift in his mood? It was almost as if a switch had been flipped, and it left her uncertain, questioning.
Still, she wasn’t one to back down easily. Her lips curled into a playful pout as she puffed out her cheeks, trying once again. "Pretty please?" she asked, her voice soft and sweet, almost coaxing.
Zylan stiffened at the sight of her, Her antics, her innocent attempts to soften him, were enough to undo him—but he couldn’t let her win this time. He couldn’t let her sweet face distract him.
Turning his face to the side, he avoided her wide, pleading eyes, his resolve hardening. "No," he repeated, his voice now firm, final.
It felt like a challenge, more for himself than for her. He wasn’t sure why this simple moment felt so charged, but it did. And in that silence, his thoughts churned. Was it jealousy? Was it....possessiveness? Or was it simply that, for once, he didn’t want to be forgotten in her eyes?
