Chapter 126: Promise Is A Promise
Chapter 126: Promise Is A Promise
Immediately, the spoon slipped from her fingers, clattering onto the plate. Zylan lifted his head, his eyes widening slightly at her shocked expression. He hadn’t expected such a strong reaction, but if only he knew—Naomi was even more surprised than he was. She hadn’t anticipated those words coming from him.
Could this mean he finally trusted her?
From the moment she arrived, she had been strictly forbidden to enter Zylan’s room. At first, she hadn’t cared—she had her own escape plans. She assumed it was because they weren’t officially married yet and that once they were, the room would no longer be off-limits. But even after their wedding, Zylan showed no intention of letting her in.
She vividly recalled the time he had left. When she tried to approach the door, the look on Rylan’s face alone told her there was something inside they didn’t want her to see.
And now, out of nowhere, Zylan wanted to show her his room.
Her heart pounded in her chest, a mixture of excitement and confusion swirling within her. She didn’t know how to feel. A part of her wanted to believe it was a sign of his trust, that after everything, he was finally opening up to her. But the other part of her hesitated, What if he changes
It felt like she was holding her breath, waiting for him to change his mind. But to her surprise, he didn’t. He remained silent, his gaze steady, unwavering.
This was Zylan speaking. When he said something, it meant he had already thought it through. Still, she hesitated, her voice uncertain. "Are you sure about this?" She needed him to confirm it once more, even though deep down, she already knew the answer. Wasn’t this exactly what she wanted? So why was she still asking?
Zylan’s gaze didn’t waver. He simply nodded, his expression unreadable.
"Yes, I am, wife."
Her stomach fluttered at the word. His voice, so firm, yet gentle, carried a weight of sincerity that she couldn’t ignore. Naomi nodded back, unsure of what was to come, but feeling an undeniable pull toward him.
She refocused her attention on her breakfast, trying to steady her thoughts. Even as she ate in silence, her mind continued to wander. But she forced herself to stay calm and concentrate—after all, they would be leaving the restaurant soon.
As soon as they finished, Zylan rose from his seat, and Naomi followed. A waiter approached and gave them a respectful bow, though no one bothered to tell Naomi that everything had already been taken care of.
Without another word, they headed toward the exit.
The moment they stepped outside, Naomi noticed two cars waiting. She turned to Zylan in question, but he simply walked beside her, leading her toward the car they had arrived in.
As soon as the chauffeur opened the door, they stepped into the car. Zylan signaled to the chauffeur, silently instructing him to give them some privacy.
Once they were alone, Zylan turned to Naomi, his expression softening just a fraction.
"I have to go now," he said, his voice steady but there was something in it—something she couldn’t quite place. "But I promise, I’ll come back around this time. And when I do, I won’t hold anything back—I’ll tell you everything. If... if everything works out, I’ll take you with me everywhere I go. We’ll be together."
Naomi’s lips parted slightly, then closed. Her heart skipped a beat as his words sank in. He was trusting her. Really trusting her. Her eyes welled with emotion as she looked at him, a mixture of love, longing, and confusion reflected in her gaze. She wasn’t sure what to feel, but something deep inside told her this was a turning point. A moment that could change everything.
Zylan noticed her reaction and hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his face. Had he said something wrong?
"I’m sorry if I—"
Before he could finish, Naomi sat up and threw her arms around his neck, pulling him into a warm, unexpected hug. Zylan froze, completely caught off guard. But then, after a beat, he embraced her back, holding her tightly.
Naomi’s heart raced as she pressed herself closer to him, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against hers. It was as if everything in the world had faded away, leaving just the two of them, tangled in this moment of raw, unspoken connection. She closed her eyes, breathing him in, and before she could stop herself, the words spilled from her lips.
"I love you. I love you so, so much, Zylan. And I promise, I will never let you go. No matter how much you push me away, I won’t—I can’t."
Zylan was still processing her words when she suddenly leaned in, her lips finding the side of his neck. She sucked gently, drawing a low groan from him as his grip on her waist tightened. His eyes darkened, a storm of emotions flickering in his gaze. His voice was tight, filled with a mix of surprise and desire when he finally spoke.
"Oh Eaglet... are you trying to seduce me hmm..?"
She smiled against his skin, feeling a rush of triumph at his reaction. "What if I am."
Before he could react, she moved to the other side of his neck, her lips grazing his skin as she sucked once more. Another groan escaped his lips, his grip on her tightening as the tension between them built. His breath grew shallow, ragged, but then, as if nothing had happened, she pulled away, breaking the connection.
"Don’t forget to come back early. Safe trip," she said sweetly, her voice soft but laced with a hint of mischief.
She leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips, lingering just a moment longer than necessary. The world outside the car seemed to disappear, leaving only the taste of him on her lips.
Zylan exhaled deeply, his chest rising and falling as he leaned in again, capturing her lips in a deep, passionate kiss. His tongue slipped past her lips, tasting her with a hunger that sent a shiver down her spine. The kiss grew heated, more urgent, their bodies pressed together in a frenzy of desire. Time seemed to slow down as they lost themselves in the moment.
After what felt like an eternity, they finally pulled away, breathless, their eyes locked. Zylan rested his forehead against hers, his hand cupping her face gently as if afraid to let her go.
"Oh? You’re becoming as shameless as me, huh?" he murmured with a chuckle, his voice filled with disbelief. "Now why do I feel like canceling this trip and taking you home to f*ck you senseless?" His words were teasing, yet laced with an undeniable hunger. "I swear, I don’t know how you do this to me."
Naomi, still sitting in his lap, was too stunned to respond at first. The words had taken her by surprise, but then, to her own surprise, she found herself saying—
"Yes, baby. Come back safely... so you can f*ck this wife of yours senseless."
Zylan stilled, his eyes widening. It was the second time she had used that word, and the way it rolled off her lips sent a spark straight through him, his body reacting to her words before he could even process them.
"F*ck... what are you doing to me, huh? Tell me, Eaglet," he rasped, his voice rough with desire.
Before she could answer, he pulled her in for another kiss—a slow, intoxicating one that left them both breathless. His hands roamed to her waist, pulling her closer as if trying to fuse their bodies together. She responded eagerly, her hands threading through his hair as she melted into him.
He finally pulled away, his lips lingering near hers as his eyes locked onto hers. They stared at each other in silence, the air between them thick with emotion, with longing. It was as if the world had faded away, leaving them suspended in this moment, where nothing else mattered except for the heat between them.
Naomi gently cupped his face, her touch warm and steady. She could feel the steady beat of his heart beneath her fingertips, and she couldn’t help but smile.
"Go safely. Come back... then turn me into a vampire."
Her voice was slow, deliberate, each word filled with sincerity. There was no hesitation in her eyes, no doubt in her heart. She had made up her mind, and she knew that this was what she wanted.
Zylan turned rigid, his gaze hardening as he absorbed her words. It wasn’t just what she said—it was the certainty in her eyes. The unshakeable resolve that had always been there, but now, more than ever, it was clear. She wasn’t just asking; she was demanding.
He didn’t say anything at first. Instead, he slowly moved her from his lap, settling her onto the seat beside him. Naomi watched him, her heart pounding in her chest, unsure of what he would do next.
Zylan turned to her with a nod, before turning toward the door, but then, unexpectedly, he paused.
Without a word, he turned back to her, his eyes unreadable, and leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek. Naomi stilled, feeling the warmth of his lips linger against her skin. It was a promise, an unspoken bond that tied them together, a promise that meant more than any words ever could.
"A promise is a promise," he murmured, his voice low and smooth, unwavering. "If I go and find out it’s still possible... when I’m back, I will turn you into one."
Her heart raced as the weight of his words settled in. A shiver ran through her, but this time, it wasn’t from fear. It was from the anticipation of what was to come.
Zylan finally moved to the car door, his hand on the knob. Before he opened it, he turned to her once more, his gaze deep and unreadable.
"My wife... never stop loving me." Before she could utter a word, he stepped out, leaving her speechless.
