My Vampire Beloved Husband -
Chapter 125: A Promise…
Chapter 125: A Promise...
After what felt like hours, the car finally came to a stop—in front of a Restaurant. Of course, no one needed to tell Naomi that the building would be luxurious—anything associated with Zylan always was.
Though her mind was still, her thoughts remained restless. One thing she had come to understand about Zylan was that he had a way of saying things when she least expected them—when she hadn’t asked.
Like the last time, when he had casually mentioned details about his intimacy preferences. She hadn’t pried; he had simply offered the information. Maybe this would be another one of those moments. All she had to do was be patient.
The chauffeur stepped out first and opened the door. As usual, Zylan exited first, and Naomi placed her hand in his before they entered the restaurant together.
As they walked toward the entrance, Naomi couldn’t help but notice something strange—the restaurant was empty.
Wait, was it..closed?
A twinge of unease crept through her as they approached the door. It was unusual for such an extravagant place to be completely deserted. Just as they reached the entrance, a man appeared from the shadows and bowed respectfully toward Zylan and Naomi before speaking in a soft, welcoming tone.
"Welcome to our restaurant, Mr. Zylan and Mrs Naomi. We are truly honored to have you here. Please, come in."
Naomi blinked, momentarily confused, before taking in the sight of the man. He wasn’t in a typical uniform—he was wearing a formal black suit with a silver tie that shimmered faintly under the lighting. The see-through glass doors slid open as he nodded, inviting them inside. Naomi noticed that he seemed to be holding something—perhaps a list with their names on it.
Her thoughts stalled as her gaze lingered on the names. Thiernames.
She turned to Zylan, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Did you book this....?" she asked, her voice hesitant. She opened her mouth to ask more, then closed it in surprise. Wait... had he booked the entire restaurant?
As if reading her mind, Zylan nodded before responding in his usual calm manner. "I don’t like noise. Besides, I just want both of us to enjoy the moment without any unnecessary drama."
Naomi understood exactly what he meant. Maybe he didn’t like being surrounded by people. Maybe he wanted privacy. And, to some extent, she could relate—she might not have felt completely comfortable with strangers around either.
But still... wasn’t this kind of absurd?
She didn’t mind if other people were present. It wasn’t like she expected their Breakfast outing to be this special. But knowing Zylan, she respected his decision.
Even so, for him to book such an expensive restaurant... just how much had he spent?
The man led them to a table positioned at the center of the room. Everything was arranged with flawless precision, exuding an air of quiet elegance. The table was set for two, with a single candle casting a soft, golden glow across the polished surface. Small, delicate flower vases were placed at the sides, each holding a fresh bloom that complemented the other, creating a harmonious aesthetic.
Naomi couldn’t help but admire the care that had gone into every detail, from the delicate napkins folded neatly beside their plates to the gleam of the glassware. It was as if the entire space had been curated for this very moment.
As Naomi took in her surroundings, she realized just how perfect everything seemed—every detail carefully crafted to enhance the experience. Beyond the glass walls, towering skyscrapers stretched toward the sky, their lights casting a mesmerizing glow over the city. Naomi had always loved the city skyline, but tonight, it looked different—more ethereal, like a dream made real.
A soft melody from a nearby piano filled the space, adding to the serene atmosphere. The gentle notes wrapped around her like a soothing embrace, easing her mind, and for a moment, she felt her worries slip away.
The waiter, who had remained discreetly in the background, approached the table with a respectful bow and placed a menu in front of Naomi before doing the same for Zylan.
Naomi was immediately greeted by extravagant prices.
Whoa.
Her eyes widened slightly as she scanned the menu, her brows furrowing in disbelief. Was this even normal? A single dish cost more than what some people earned in a month. She knew Zylan had money—a lot of it—but seeing these prices still left her momentarily stunned.
Of course, it was his money—he had every right to spend it however he wanted. But wouldn’t it also be fair to spend it wisely? Naomi wasn’t sure why she was even thinking about this; it wasn’t her money. And yet, the thought nagged at her. Was this how he lived his life? Surrounded by wealth, and luxury.
Naomi shrugged, pushing the thought aside as she turned to the waiter with a polite smile. "I’d like some classic pancakes with maple syrup and a serving of Greek yogurt with granola," she said, trying to sound casual.
She had tried Greek yogurt before, but never with the full combination of nuts, honey, and fresh fruit. She often saw Rose eating it—she loved it—but she had never given it much thought. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to try something new, right?
The waiter nodded respectfully. "Mrs. Naomi, your order will arrive shortly. Thank you," he said before turning to Zylan, waiting for his selection.
Without a word, Zylan simply pointed at an item on the menu—white truffle toasted bread and red tea.
The waiter gave another polite nod, his face a mask of professionalism. "I’ll return shortly with your orders," he said before walking away.
As soon as the waiter left, Naomi turned to Zylan, her curiosity piqued. She couldn’t help but wonder why he was acting so distant, so focused. He had a way of retreating into himself, and though she could understand it to an extent, she often found herself wanting to know what was going on in his mind.
"When you come back, will you be going out again?" she asked, unable to stop herself. Her voice was tentative, unsure of how he would respond.
She immediately questioned herself—what was she even saying? Of course, he would go out again. That was just how things were. But deep down, what she really wanted was for him to stay longer—to spend more time with her. Naomi had grown accustomed to his presence, to his strength, and the thought of him leaving made something tighten in her chest.
Zylan’s voice was calm as he responded, his eyes meeting hers with a steady warmth. "I won’t go out anytime soon again except for an emergency. And once I’m back, wherever I go, you’ll come with me."
Naomi’s eyes widened slightly at his words, her heart giving a small flutter. She studied him carefully, curiosity sparking in her gaze. His tone was sincere, but there was something in his eyes that suggested he wasn’t just saying this to reassure her—he meant it.
"I promise," he continued, his voice unwavering. "Once I’m back, anywhere I go, you’ll be by my side. Except when necessary."
She hadn’t expected his absence to hold so much weight, but now that he said this, it meant more than she realized. Naomi felt the weight of his words settle over her, a sense of security that she hadn’t known she needed.
"Then once you’re back," she added, her voice barely above a whisper, "you’ll tell me everything."
Zylan nodded without hesitation. "I will."
Satisfied, Naomi leaned in slightly, a playful pout tugging at her lips. "Promise?"
A soft chuckle escaped him as he shook his head lightly before nodding again. "Promise."
Her face brightened, and a sense of contentment washed over her. At that moment, Naomi felt a small shift within herself—a sense of peace she hadn’t realized she was missing. It was almost as if Zylan’s presence, his words, had begun to heal something deep within her, something that had been broken for far too long.
And then, as if on cue, their orders arrived.
Naomi nodded, her smile still lingering, but her thoughts were far from light. She glanced down at the plates being set before them, her mind still racing with everything Zylan had said. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was about to change—something she wasn’t ready for.
She opened her mouth to speak but hesitated, her eyes scanning the room to make sure no one else was nearby. Despite the vast emptiness of the restaurant, she still couldn’t shake the sense of being watched.
Zylan, ever the calm one, took a slow sip of his tea before speaking, his voice soft but reassuring. "You don’t have to worry. It’s just the two of us. Say whatever you want to say."
Reassured, Naomi nodded again before finally asking, her voice barely above a whisper, "You’re leaving... does it have to do with your vampire stuff?"
She wasn’t sure if Zylan would even answer such a question. But to her surprise, he did.
"I’m leaving because of what happened last night," he admitted, his gaze locking onto hers with a steady warmth. "It seems I can’t control it... and I’m afraid of hurting you."
Her heart skipped a beat, her breath catching in her chest. She hadn’t expected him to be so open to her. The intensity of his words made something shift inside her.
"I need to check if this is related to me not taking blood for a long time," he continued, his tone thoughtful, almost distant. "I don’t want to do something I’d regret. And at the same time, I feel like something is off. My eyes turning completely red only happens when I desperately need something—it has only happened once before. I need to figure out why it happened now."
Zylan’s lips curled into a small, almost imperceptible grin as he met her gaze. "So, I’d like my lovely wife to wait patiently for me. I promise I’ll return as soon as possible."
Naomi’s body stilled her pulse quickening.
Lovelywife?
Did he just call her that?
A faint pink blush dusted her cheeks. Was this why he had been in such a rush? No wonder—suddenly, everything made a little more sense. The affection in his words sent a rush of warmth through her, and she felt her heart beat faster.
But what truly surprised her wasn’t just the affectionate words—it was the fact that he had explained everything to her, something he rarely did. It felt like a small gift—a promise.
A soft smile tugged at her lips as warmth bloomed in her chest.
Her wounds—the doubts, the uncertainties—were beginning to heal.
And she loved it in every possible way.
Naomi didn’t know why her heart suddenly began to race, thudding loudly in her chest. She decided to focus on her breakfast, trying to shake off the feelings swirling inside her. Everything Zylan had said had shocked her to the core.
She took a spoonful of the yogurt she had ordered, its smooth, creamy texture a welcome distraction. It was nice—comforting, even. But at that moment, the pounding of her heart felt even more intense, more beautiful in its own way.
A soft smile tugged at her lips as she continued to eat, her thoughts still tangled.
And then, just as she thought things might settle, Zylan spoke again.
"And once I’m back, I’ll show you my room."
Naomi froze. The spoon she had been holding slipped from her fingers and clattered softly against her plate.
