Chapter 16: Invincible Baseballer!!
Chapter 16: Invincible Baseballer!!
Leon took his time trying out different weapons against many types of monsters. From spear, axe, whip, to even unpopular weapons like shotel, chakram, sling, and many more.
But he couldn’t try all of them, as he was exhausted from testing the others. There were simply too many weapons to choose from, so unless he spent days holed up in this facility, he didn’t think he would be able to try them all.
Finally, he stopped when he felt that he couldn’t go any longer and decided to call it a day.
Silver noticed this and skipped over to him with an energy can in one hand and a towel in the other.
"Thanks," Leon smiled at her and chugged the energy can while Silver wiped the sweat from his face.
It felt strange to have a girl so close to him, really. A decade of basically no proper interaction with society had left his social skills rusty.
But he didn’t want to show it, so he kept a poker face and began thinking about the weapon he wanted to buy. In fact, he had already come to the conclusion, he was just going over it again.
Surprisingly, the woman who had brought them here also arrived shortly after, as if she had just been waiting for him to finish his practice session.
She smiled politely at him and asked, "Have you found the weapon you like?"
"Yes," Leon nodded and showed her the tablet where a pair of short swords were displayed. Their surface was dark as obsidian, and their weight was also pretty light.
They were the most balanced weapons he could find, perfectly suited to him or rather, to his situation in the dungeon.
"You know dual wielding?" the woman asked, surprised. "Are you really sure you want to buy this combo?"
Even Silver was surprised upon hearing that. She had seen him try out the dual short swords and agreed that they suited his style, but she still found it a little risky.
Dual wielding properly in a death battle was something even geniuses struggled with, so she was naturally worried. But then she reminded herself—
’Leo is more intelligent than you, so he must have already thought things through. There’s nothing to worry about.’
On the other hand, Leon just nodded at the woman’s words.
Seeing that he was actually buying them, the saleswoman sighed and said, "Why don’t you buy a manual for dual wielding arts too?"
"You have it?" Leon was surprised. He had already planned to visit another store for it, but if he could buy it here, even better.
"Normally, we don’t keep it but there are special times," she smiled and led them outside.
They soon arrived at the counter, where the woman registered his order along with his address, as the items would be delivered later on.
As for the money, Leon was quite rich because he had published many theories while in the Research Department during his first year.
There was a reason he was famous around the campus.
The short swords were also pretty cheap, as they were just Tier 1 artefacts, the lowest of their kind. They also didn’t have any enchantments, so their price was very low.
As for the dual wielding arts manual, it was mostly just the basics, so it was also inexpensive.
"And done! Your orders will be delivered in one hour, Sir, Ma’am," the woman smiled at them and asked, "Is there anything else you would like to buy?"
"Why don’t you buy a Tier 2 artefact?" Silver spoke from the side. "Believe me, these short swords will become useless to you very soon."
Leon thought about it and nodded in agreement. With his speed of improvement due to the dungeon, it surely wouldn’t take long for the swords to become obsolete.
He suddenly remembered something and asked, "Can you show me the catalogue of artefacts below Tier 3 available in all of your branches?"
The woman raised an eyebrow in surprise, but being a professional, she quickly returned her expression to normal and smiled, "Certainly, you can."
She then handed them a different tablet, which showcased all the available artefacts under the Wind Cloud Pavilion. Anyone could actually view this and order the artefacts to be delivered to them.
They would just need to bear the cost of transportation.
Leon spent a few minutes scrolling through it, as if casually browsing, but he had a specific agenda in mind. Though it was also because their sorting system sucked.
’Why can’t I find it? It should be with them. Did they put it in some weird tier?’
Just when he was about to lose hope, his eyes began sparkling as they landed on a fine piece of baseball bat in the Tier 1 weapon category.
It looked no different from an ordinary baseball bat, but it was made out of a strange metal that made it indestructible. Just the fact that none of the blacksmiths had managed to break it or even melt it down to use the metal spoke volumes about its potential.
It had recently been unearthed in one of the lost civilizations of the Primordial Expanse, so many didn’t know much about it. As for those who did know, while they found it cool, they didn’t buy it for one reason—
It didn’t have any enchantments.
And an artefact without enchantments wasn’t worth much. Some even speculated that the metal was only indestructible in lower tiers.
All of this skepticism was because it had only recently been discovered. But as the developer, Leon knew its true potential.
Sure, it didn’t have any enchantments now but it truly was indestructible. Only in the later parts of the story would its true power be revealed, when even a Demi-God would fail to destroy it or even put a scratch on it.
’I’m not letting you go, baby.’ Leon smiled. ’It’s time to become the invincible baseballer of the apocalypse.’
He controlled his excitement and showed two items to the woman. The first was obviously the Tier 1 indestructible baseball bat, and the other was a Tier 2 war hammer.
"Huh? Are you sure about this one?" Silver asked in surprise, though her focus was actually on the war hammer rather than the bat.
Leon nodded with a strange glint passing through his eyes. "Let’s just say... I have some debts to settle, so I need this hammer."
