Chapter 82: The Training Event Begins!

Chapter 82: Chapter 82: The Training Event Begins!

A few days had passed since Kate put up the advertisement for the Blackheart Training Event and during that time a fair amount of people had signed up.

When Lake looked at the numbers, he saw that almost 40 students had registered for the event.

Although the number wasn’t that high, Lake found that this was understandable. After all, not everyone was willing to join the Blackheart guild or was that interested in the training.

Some people may have special circumstances or believed in their own style of training and wouldn’t adhere to another.

Lake wasn’t lazy during this time either. Whenever someone registered for the event Lake would spend some time observing them before writing down a few points on their practice and specialty.

After Lake did some thinking, he realized that if he were to go through each and every student he would have to improve and help them individually like he did Kate, it would take up way too much time.

Lake didn’t wish to spend most of his days helping others as once he reached the Martial Master Realm, he would rather spend that time on increasing his own strength to Martial Grandmaster.

That’s why he came up with a method that would broadly benefit everyone. Using the insight he gained from observing the fate of the students and teachers, Lake planned to create a general guideline to mana that contained solutions and methods to solve the majority of peoples practice method in a reasonable manner.

When he wasn’t working on the guideline to mana, he was opening his own flow paths in preparation for when he created the Mana Heart.

In that manner, time flew by and it was already the first day of the training event.

When Lake came to the training hall, he saw that a lot of students had already gathered around.

Kate was standing in front of the group who were talking among themselves while they waited.

Lake nodded to Kate as he walked up.

"Is this everyone?"

"Yes, although a few people seem to have dropped out..."

Kate didn’t finish her words, her meaning was clear.

It seems that word got out to a few people that the illusionary trainer from the Blackheart guild wasn’t real.

Kate looked over to Lake. He seemed calm, the complete opposite of what someone in his situation would normally feel.

It is no joke that Lake tricked these people here into joining an event they thought was held by an experienced member of a guild.

After all, the academy usually invited professional hunters to give experienced lectures every now and then when they had a chance.

Everyone just thought that the Blackheart Guild Training Event was going to be something similar and also functioned as a promotion for Kate’s family guild since the hunter came from it.

When Lake turned to the talkative crowd, he spotted Alec and Instructor Bane standing in the corner of the hall watching on with interest. Both of them knew that there was no hunter coming today so they were curious as to see what scheme Kate and Lake had cooked up.

Seeing that the crowd wasn’t paying attention, Lake remembered this school’s method of grabbing students’ attention and shutting them up.

Although he wasn’t a Martial Master and couldn’t release aura, he had something that had a similar effect.

With a thought, Lake let the rampant King’s Aura in his body release into the surrounding, causing a dignified and sacred aura to spread throughout the entire hall.

Everyone who was previously talking instantly quieted down upon feeling this as a subtle force made them subconsciously look down.

When Alec and Bane, who were wondering what he was doing, felt the aura their expressions changed greatly.

Their first thought was a Mana Field but they quickly ruled it out as it was clear as day to them that Lake wasn’t one from the low mana density within his body.

When they thought of this they came to another conclusion that left them equally stunned.

"Another awakened..."

Looking at the group of students that had quieted down, Lake breathed out, his breath having the illusion of being magnified countless times in the ears of all those under the effect of his aura.

Kate who was next to him wasn’t facing as much pressure as the crowd in front of her but she was still deeply shocked by what she was feeling.

The confidence she had built up to challenge Lake before today had diminished by a fair bit after experiencing the effects of the King’s Aura.

With his head raised slightly and his gaze slanted downwards, Lake spoke out calmly as his voice spread throughout the entire hall.

"I won’t waste words. You all came here today because you expected to be trained or have a shot at entering the Blackheart guild."

"The offer to enter the Blackheart Guild still remains the same, but the training must be completed if you wish to take it. The training will be led by me."

After Lake spoke his last words, he retracted his King’s Aura allowing for everyone to regain their composure.

After understanding the situation and seeing Lake standing still in front of them, a lot of students were both in fear and anger upon realizing they’ve been tricked.

However, before they could even react, Kate walked forward and spoke out.

"The effects of the training are one hundred percent guaranteed. If you don’t believe in him, you can believe in the me who awakened and advanced to Martial Warrior under the effects of the training."

As people heard this, most of the agitated students calmed down again. Kate’s existence had turned into the biggest guarantee for this hoax event and they were willing to hear Lake out.

However, a few people were not so happy even with Kate’s guarantee, although they stayed silent after experiencing the suppressive effect of Lake’s King’s Aura.

Only a fool would shout out now when they were at a clear disadvantage.

Seeing that everyone was calm, Lake continued speaking, this time without the effects of King’s Aura, returning to his casual manner of speaking.

"Now, I know that a lot of you may not be convinced by my abilities since you’ve only ever witnessed me fight twice. One was when I was far weaker than I was now, and the other was a spar."

As Lake spoke he walked up to one of the large sparring stages with the crowd of students behind him.

"To help both convince you of my abilities and qualifications to teach you, the first event will be held in this manner. I will stand on this stage and anyone who walks up can challenge me. I’ll give pointers after we battle. You can come one by one, but you can also rush up all at once. I would prefer if you did the latter as it helps me save time."

When Lake’s words fell, no one moved for a long time. They were all silently weighing their options. During this time, some of the more gossipy students were silently posting about the current events on the form, gathering a small discussion online.

It wasn’t until half a minute passed that a group of boys walked up onto stage.

These, of course, were the same group of boys who always wanted to fight him.

Lake had figured out the general gist of their situation after observing their fate so he knew they were just doing this for the sake of fighting him today.

Looking at the four boys pulling out a longsword, greatsword, bow and spear respectively, Lake smiled happily at their courage.

After all, Lake wasn’t sure if anyone would be willing to come up to fight him in the first place so this was a good guarantee.

When the group of boys were ready to fight, suddenly one more person walked onto the stage causing Lake to be dumbfounded.

"What? I also signed up for the training myself and you also said anyone can come up on stage." Kate spoke as she blinked innocently.

She wasn’t confident in fighting Lake in a one vs one so why not take advantage of the situation and make it a five vs one.

Besides, she didn’t plan to go all out and leave room for Lake to get out. This way, she could both help Lake by showing he could fight against a group of Martial Artists led by a Martial Warrior while also helping her relieve her mental trauma.

When Lake heard this, he suddenly had a brilliant idea as many thoughts flashed across his mind.

Once he had calculated that his idea was feasible, he started laughing madly.

"Pfff- ahahaha! Alright, I did say everyone so why don’t we make it everyone?!"

Pointing his finger to the group of students that were still watching from the sidelines, Lake shouted out, "Come on! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You get the chance to fight against me while being led by a Martial Warrior! Why won’t you take it?! Could it be that the rest of you are still scared after understanding the situation?"

Hearing Lake’s mad shout, a normal person would ignore the obvious provocation. However, this was a martial arts academy where fighting and being hot-blooded was the norm.

If they were given the opportunity to fight someone who had previously left them dissatisfied and they were at a clear advantage towards him, why won’t they take it?

However, hearing Lake’s mad laughter left a lot of people skeptical.

Lake noticed this and spoke out one last time, causing the last string that kept the group’s reasoning together to snap.

"I say, if you’re all still scared, I swear I won’t use the awakened ability at the start of the event to suppress you during the fight."

With the words spoken, what more do the group have to worry about? Even if Lake still used the weird aura to suppress them again, at least they could win on honor after the fight now.

The remaining group of students rushed up onto the stage as the two Instructors at the side watched on with twitching eyes.
