Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Giant Horned Bison

Leading the pack deeper into the grassland, Lake’s gaze was drawn to the colossal figure of the Giant Bison resting at the center of an open field.

The bison was a behemoth, resembling more of a small hill in the midst of the field than a living creature. Its two massive horns spanned a distance of over ten meters, with the bison’s body towering at least twenty meters in height.

Grazing around it was a herd of bison, slightly larger than the average, with some of the smaller bison perched atop the backs of the larger ones.

The herd appeared tranquil and content, relishing the grass on the ground. However, Lake paid little attention to their apparent serenity. From the moment he set eyes on them, all he could see was small and big piles of RP.

Looking past the herd of bison, Lake could already see that Kate and the others were in position.

"Sylph, it’s time."

Sylph nodded her head as she focused herself.

With her hands clasped together, she whispered something under her breath, conjuring a powerful gust of wind that enveloped the wolves, surrounding them in a gentle, radiant glow.

Though the light was somewhat dim, it covered a multitude of wolves, making it easy for the Giant Horned Bison to spot the approaching pack.

The Giant Horned Bison emitted a thunderous snort, causing a burst of wind to ripple through the grass beneath it. This snort was like a signal, instantly sending the rest of the herd on high alert as they positioned themselves to face the approaching wolves.

The larger bison took the lead, while the smaller ones gravitated closer to the Giant Horned Bison. As Lake and the pack rapidly closed in on the herd, the Giant Horned Bison slowly elevated itself from the ground, causing dirt and dust to cascade from its massive frame.

Now standing upright, Lake could truly appreciate the colossal height of the Giant Horned Bison, which soared to more than 30 meters in stature!

"Grrrrr!"

With a deep, resonating rumble, the Giant Horned Bison unleashed a menacing roar that momentarily froze the pack of wolves in their tracks.

"Awooo!"

The Alpha Wolf released a loud howl under the urging of Lake, who had unleashed his King’s Aura onto the surrounding.

With the orders of their Alpha and the buff of the King’s Aura, the pack of wolves’ fear greatly diminished as a ferocious look glowed in their red eyes.

As they continued their charge, a collective howl echoed into the sky, marking the commencement of a fierce battle.

Standing on top of the Alpha Wolf, Lake quickly analyzed the scene before casting a spell.

Fog Cloud!

In an instant, a massive, billowing fog bank burst out with Lake at the center, shrouding the entire battlefield.

The bison’s visibility was severely limited, reducing their sight to just a few meters, and causing them to lose track of the approaching wolves.

The Giant Horned Bison snorted again when it saw the fog obscure its vision. Lifting one of its colossal legs, it slammed it down with tremendous force!

Bang!

Rumble!

In an instant, a powerful shockwave radiated from the point of impact, dispelling the fog around it while the ground quaked violently.

With the fog gone, the bison could once again see their surroundings.

Observing its surroundings, the Giant Horned Bison immediately realized that something was wrong.

Turning its head from side to side, it saw that its entire herd had been surrounded by the wolves.

Standing in front of it was a massive green wolf that was staring it down with ferocious eyes while releasing a menacing growl.

"AWOOO!"

"GROARRR!"

BOOM!

With a sonic boom, the Alpha Wolf streaked across the battlefield, directly bypassing the entire herd of bison and landing in front of the Giant Horned Bison.

Leaping forward, the Alpha Wolf employed its sharp claws to lacerate the sides of the Giant Bison!

Skreek!

With a sound akin to metal scratching against each other, the Alpha Wolf’s claw skated along the sides of the Giant Horned Bison, leaving a faint white mark.

Seeing this, the Alpha Wolf growled as the ferocity in its eyes intensified. It could already tell that this wasn’t going to be an easy battle.

On the opposite side of the battlefield, a brilliant sword light that twinkled like the stars shot out from a strange angle, severely injuring a few unsuspecting bison.

Whoosh!

Before the bison could recover from the blast, a blue-haired man dashed forth, as swift as the wind, finishing them off with his sword.

The older bison nearby quickly charged forward upon seeing this. Most of the adults had moved to the front of the herd to deal with the wolves so only a few adults stayed in the back. The rest were the young calf of the herd, and it was their duty to protect them.

Seeing that there were only three attackers, the older bison singled in on the weakest-looking one who hadn’t attacked yet.

Seeing the small herd of bison charging at her, the blue-haired woman, who seemed rather upset about something, swung her fist forward, colliding with one of the approaching bison’s skull.

BANG!

The other charging bison immediately stopped dead in their tracks as they watched in horror as one of their brothers’ heads caved in, causing blood and brain matter to splatter all over the pretty fairy’s face.

"Tsk... I hope you’re okay, Sylph...."

Swoosh!

Another starry swordlight shot past her, hitting the bison that had stopped their charge!

"Iris! Good job stopping them! Keep pushing the offense now! We can’t afford to give them the opportunity to charge at us!"

Hearing the shout of her "commander", Iris couldn’t help but click her tongue again. Their original commander, who was supposed to be leading them, took her princess and ran off to another side of the battlefield.

Whenever she thought of that heartless bastard with her little princess, she couldn’t help but feel angered!

"Ahhh! Fuck it! Die, you stinking bison!"

With a rage-filled shout, Iris charged into the herd of bison, swinging her fist wildly and tearing up the ground in her wake.

"Ah, it seems like my sister is going all out, ahahaha..." Bramble laughed dryly when he saw the previously violent Bison running from his even more violent sister.

Kate, who was watching from the back, had a wide grin on her face. For the first time in a while, she couldn’t control her facial muscles, resulting in a somewhat excited expression.

’We might actually be able to do this!’

Although she knew that Iris’ strength had already touched on the Martial Warrior realm, she didn’t expect her to be so ferocious.

She looked more like a wolf among a herd of helpless sheep than the actual wolves fighting alongside her!

Kate originally had doubts about how this battle would go when she heard Lake’s plan, as a lot of pressure was put on her shoulder to make sure that the bison didn’t try to run from behind.

She knew she could hold her own, but with many bison in the back, she lacked confidence in controlling them all.

Now, seeing the two sibling fairies fighting at full force, she couldn’t contain her excitement and subconsciously smiled.

Looking at the center of the battlefield, she could see the "demon" that had conducted this plan dashing around like some kind of demented spirit.

His presence was nonexistent, and his figure flickered like a ghost, only allowing her to catch brief glances of him, but everywhere he passed, the gruesome corpse of a bison was left behind.

Their skulls were either crushed or torn open by brute force, with some of their organs ripped out from their bodies.

Lake was prancing about the battlefield with a wide grin on his face.

Every time he killed a bison, he could hear the system notification going off in his head.

Listening to the system notification, Lake had figured out that a few of the bison in the herd actually had the potential to become a giant like the Giant Horned Bison.

However, since none of them seemed to activate this hidden potential, they still remained around the same size as the other bison.

Thankfully, this didn’t seem to affect the number of points Lake got from killing them, as the system still considered it to be a higher-tier fate and gave points accordingly.

So far, Lake had managed to gather more than a thousand points since the battle started!

"Awooo!"

"Groarr!"

The battle between the Giant Horned Bison and the Alpha Wolf raged on at the heart of the battlefield.

The Alpha Wolf maneuvered swiftly around the colossal form of the Giant Bison, leaving behind numerous scratch marks on its resilient hide. It refrained from attempting to sink its fangs into the Bison’s hide, fearing that its teeth might shatter upon contact.

"GRROAR!"

Suddenly, the Giant Horned Bison unleashed a deafening roar while hoisting its massive body onto its hind legs, causing the ground to yield beneath its immense weight.

The Alpha Wolf’s eyes gleamed with keen awareness as it leaped backward in haste.

BANG!

The colossal body of the Giant Horned Bison crashed into the ground, forming an immense crater as the earth fractured.

A thunderous sound resonated throughout the surroundings, and a colossal shockwave sent everyone hurtling through the air.

Even the nearby bison were forcibly pushed back by the blast, and some of the younger ones were launched into the air.

Although the Alpha Wolf reacted quickly and tried to escape the blast, it was still affected as its balance was thrown off, causing it to land on its side as it skated against the floor.

"Damn it!"

Kate hurriedly stuck her sword into the ground upon seeing the blast coming her way. Her hair was violently blown backward by the wind, but she managed to hold on.

Bramble and Iris didn’t have time to react as quickly as Kate, since they were much closer to the blast. They were directly launched into the sky, however, they managed to quickly stabilize themselves using their wings as they took flight instead.

At the heart of the battlefield, a thick cloud of brown dust had gathered, shrouding the view of everyone present.

"GROARR!"

Unexpectedly, a deafening roar emanated from the midst of the dust cloud as the massive silhouette of the Giant Horned Bison burst forth, leaving a swirling trail of dust and smoke in its wake!

Its head was lowered with its massive horns in front of it as it charged at the Alpha Wolf that was still recovering from the blast.

Rumble!

The ground shook with each step the Giant Horned Bison took, making it even more difficult for the Alpha Wolf to get off the ground.

When the Alpha Wolf finally managed to get on its feet again, the Giant Horned Bison had already arrived in front of it, its massive horn only a few short meters away.

The Alpha Wolf knew it didn’t have the time to dodge, so it braced itself for the impact.

"Groarr!"

SMACK!

The Alpha Wolf let out a brief grimace as its body was propelled into the air, soaring over a hundred meters high.

As it descended from the sky, it gained velocity before making a violent impact with the earth.

BANG!

The resounding explosion echoed from the crash, and the Alpha Wolf’s body left a small crater in the ground.

The Alpha Wolf released several soft cries in pain as it struggled to move its damaged body. The initial impact had left most of its bones shattered, and the remainder had been further broken upon landing.

Blood continued to spill out of its mouth as it coughed in pain.

"Groarr!"

The Bison released a triumphant roar as it stomped against the ground, its head raised high.

"Awooo!"

Witnessing the sad state of their fallen leader, the wolf pack let out mournful howls. Their morale had suffered a significant blow, and a few were already contemplating a hasty retreat.

Kate also wore a dark expression on her face when she saw the Alpha Wolf fall. With the Alpha Wolf no longer available to divert the Giant Horned Bison’s attention, the success of this operation was now up in smokes.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, Sylph’s graceful figure floated down to the side of the Alpha Wolf. She had flown up into the sky when Lake had casted the fog cloud spell to avoid the battle.

She quickly floated down onto her knees as she clasped her hands in a prayer-like motion.

As she muttered something softly, a vibrant green glow seemed to envelop the body of the Alpha Wolf, causing its wounds to heal at a visible pace.

The Alpha Wolf couldn’t help but look over to the praying figure of Sylph as it released a soft bark.

The Giant Horned Bison saw this and knew that something had to be done before the Alpha Wolf was given the chance to recover.

As it prepared itself to charge over, it suddenly heard a loud rumble from below it, causing it to look down in confusion.

BANG!

A pillar made from earth suddenly shot out from the ground, smacking the Giant Horned Bison square in the face!

"Grrr!"

The Giant Bison released a low cry in pain as a red mark appeared on its forehead.

Releasing another loud roar in rage, it looked around with a ferocious glint for the perpetrator of the attack.

The field had been destroyed from the Giant Bison’s powerful ground slam, leaving the surrounding area completely barren. As a result, it had no trouble pinpointing its attacker who stood alone in the clear field.

A single man standing up, with his middle finger pointed at it.

The Giant Bison didn’t know why, but it could clearly sense that the man’s strange gesture was an insult as countless provocative thoughts bombarded its mind.

Dumbass.

Cow.

Fat.

Midget.

Shit-eater.

The Giant Horned Bison was quite the simple-minded creature and was quickly enraged by the repeated insults, seemingly forgetting about the recovering Alpha Wolf.

"GRROAR!"

Its mind was now completely focused on the little man before it as it recklessly charged forward.

As for the man himself, he only smiled when he saw this, "Way to prove me right, dumbass."

Raising both his hands, a soft blue glow quickly enveloped them as the ground shook with each step of the Giant Bison.

With a light smirk on his face, the man spoke in a provocative tone, "Since the pup is still recovering, why not play with its owner instead?"
