He glanced at the two colors and actually made a choice: "Red."
Wen Ran raised her eyebrows: "You like bright colors?"
"Not really, I just think red suits you. It complements your fair skin."
"Then I’ll buy a black scarf for you. How about that?"
Fu Chenlie paused for a moment.
He had never thought about buying a scarf, nor had he ever bought such a thing before.
The male owner of Huan Island Villa had an extensive wardrobe filled with accessories, but most of them were items like luxury watches, ties, cufflinks, and belts—scarves were absent.
However, he didn’t dislike Wen Ran’s suggestion, in fact, he thought it was rather nice.
The man quickly nodded: "Sure, but why black? Shouldn’t I try it on first?"
"No need to try. You’re so handsome, even if you wrapped yourself in a bedsheet, it’d look good."
"That’s quite the unique compliment."
She giggled mischievously: "I’m just being honest. I picked black for you because red and black have always been a classic couple combo. We’re husband and wife—I’ll take red, you take black, and we’ll match perfectly."
He was satisfied with this explanation and accepted it gladly: "Alright, let’s buy two. One black, one red."
"Mm!" Wen Ran responded cheerfully, grabbing the scarves and heading to the cashier to pay.
After scanning the items, the shop attendant announced the price: "One scarf costs seventy-nine yuan. Two scarves cost one hundred fifty-eight yuan. How would you like to pay?"
Wen Ran glanced at Fu Chenlie.
He was momentarily stunned upon hearing the price. One hundred fifty-eight yuan for two scarves?!
Could something that cheap actually be usable?
The shop attendant noticed the elegantly dressed and handsome man, assuming he must be some wealthy CEO type. Yet after announcing the price, the man said nothing about paying, leading the attendant to secretly sneer—
Is this guy all flash and no substance?
Trying to scam the young lady?
Wen Ran saw Fu Chenlie standing there without a reaction and nudged his arm as a reminder, repeating the shop attendant’s words: "Hubby? How do you want to pay?"
He snapped back to reality: "Scan the code."
The shop attendant promptly replied: "I’ll scan yours."
"Okay." The man responded, nonchalantly taking out his phone to complete the payment.
As they left the store, Wen Ran felt a burst of satisfaction.
She had bought something she loved and now shared matching scarves with Fu Chenlie—it made her strangely happy. Why was that?
With both hands looped around Fu Chenlie’s arm, she tilted her face upward to gaze at his perfectly chiseled jawline as she spoke with a smile: "Hubby, do you get bored shopping with me?"
"Not at all."
"That’s good."
Fu Chenlie looked at her and asked back: "What about you? Are you bored?"
She chuckled: "Not in the least. I’m really happy."
Seeing her content expression, he thought to himself, "She’s so easy to please." Smiling faintly, he added: "You’re happy because of two scarves that cost just a hundred yuan?"
She corrected him: "It was one hundred fifty-eight, not a hundred."
The man acknowledged with a slight "Hmm," and remarked: "Still too cheap."
"How expensive could scarves possibly be?"
"I wouldn’t know, but I’ve never used anything this inexpensive."
Wen Ran responded with a faint "Oh."
The single word dropped, and she glanced at him before cautiously asking: "Does buying something this cheap for you lower your status? Does it... feel like an insult to you?"
Fu Chenlie replied with an unwavering expression: "Not at all. It’s just that our consumption levels are different, and that’s normal."
Wen Ran: "..."
What was that supposed to mean?!
All of a sudden, her mood dampened a little, and she fell silent.
Fu Chenlie noticed the subtle change in her expression and quickly added: "What I mean is, I’m willing to adjust to your lifestyle and spending habits. Of course, if you’re willing to adapt to mine, then I’d be even happier—and I’d gladly cover all your expenses."
